  1. Some people on TF said that TrialZone is worse than BB7. And TrialZone is nothing but a V2 Race. I think I've already found best brake for me: Tech 3 V4, only need to find good rotors for them. And also I'll try saints to get what's so GODDEST OMFG DIVINE LETS CREATE A SAINTS CULT in them.
  2. So m820 levers are worse than m810? I maybe buy some new m820 and try it, how necessarily it is to use exactly m810 lever? >truckload of money Lol no. It's not much, just a one day income. I'm not investing in my bike usually if it just works, but as far as I can't ride untill next season I decided to build the best of the best bike in my vision.
  3. Found some info about piston sizes on HOPE brakes: X2 - 14мм М4 - all 16мм V2 - 25мм V4 - 16+18мм Trial Zone - 25мм
  4. How can you advice this shit, mr. Dick? There are no saints except of m810.
  5. I like the control of street bike and ability to do stuff on the run. And I don't need a commuter/XC/DH/FR bike, I sold'em all.
  6. So, i'm buying new frameset and I want to just ride a little (no more than 50km at one ride) on this bike and want to prepare it. 24T with Saint/Deore/XT/SLX cranks would fit this frames? I think 24-12/17 with rear mech (Shimano Dura Ace) would be OK. And about seatptost, how deep I must set it not to damage frame by weight of my arse: 150mm? 200mm? With 22/12 and without ability to seat I can commute comfy for ~25km on my fourplay. So if gearing would be harder and I would be able to seat I think I can go to 100km+ for one ride without any pain. But 100 is too much, i'm not planning to ride more than 50km, it's I think the maximum distance I would ride on this bike at one ride. So the real numbers would be ~15-40km + riding street-trials.
  7. Yep, it seems that tech3 are a bit weaker, not surprising because it's lighter than tech 2.
  8. Reliability is what Hope famous for. Braided hoses and no worry about broken hose 4life. Re-bleeds? Why? Maybe once a 3 years just prophylactically. And this is no harder than re-set BB7 after pads changing. So, you have an impacting expirience of tech 3, can you say that tech 2 is stronger to impacts after that?
  9. Filo, custom pads, XTR levers, odyssey cables, it brings the price close to hopes. So it's kinda weird.
  10. 1 var: Fourplay 2013 green frame + element fork (1 year old) polished + Hope headset(2 years old) + TT HR bars (2 years old) + 4 fourplay/hex hangers. 2 var: var 1 but headset is Chris King Orange. ***Also I have 4 new fourplay/hex hangers. They are included too. How much it must cost to interest someone in UK?
  11. Ali said that V4 has no hold and he don't trust them, LUL. I'm waiting for console or arcade. And I'm unable to ride till next season (mar-april 15) because of some reason. Also what about sponsorship? Fishing rod company pay to riders for using ZEINDZ or not?
  12. I didn't say that BB7 are bad. And I specified that mine were crap. Probably because of TR rotors, other stuff were good. Anyway 4-pot Hope is better in everything, the only "con" is price for those who cares about it. But I don't think that 300-500 eur is high for great brakes that'll serve you for many years.
  13. I've used some. Compared to hopes they(I'm talking about MINE BB7s with MY setup: Echo TR rotors + ECLAT Core Linear cables and Avid FR5 levers) are total crap. They limited me pretty hard, because I do not trust them, they worked really bad, slipping, no bite at all, bad hold (even after cleaning rotor and pads with car pads cleaning spray, acetone and spirit). Both used with ECHO TR rotors and standard pads. I know that Avid rotors are better for BB5/7. But anyway BB7: 1) has bad modulation 2) only 1 pad moving 3) you can't do whips easily 4) lever feels worse than hope Also they need more attention to work properly. BB7 are great brakes if you have not so much money/prefer mechanics(I preferred mechanics earlier) and on/off feature is more important for you than having good modulation. But 4-pot hopes are more powerful anyway, they have good modulation and no problems with whips. They are strong enough to take impacts, WTF else do you need, those who complaining about how bad hope brakes are? I don't get how Ali can "don't trust" to E4/V4 with 183-203 rotors. Power is so much the only thing left to worry about is tyre grip in any conditions. Also funny thing about SRAM/Avid, they do best mechanics in the world but at the same time worst hydraulics in the world.
  14. What hope you have and what's wrong with it?
  15. avid/sram same shit. cheap poor quality brakes. even worse than shimano rods. magura.. my hs33 leaks like a bitch so I don't trust magura.
  16. I don't care, for me hope>shimano anyway, shimano are cheap, casted, and calipers are breaking like cookies. Plus this is idiotic mineral oil brake, there are no advantages, this is stupid to use mineral oil instead of DOT. And it looks like cheap crap. Also shimano is a rod making company, lol.
  17. No, but I know that old ones are good and new ones are shit.
  18. There are no more saints, they are total shit (new ones) and old ones that were good are almost fossils.
  19. And what about steel frames(Console), they are better survive huge rotors or not? 180/183 woud the best choice?
  20. At first I want to notice that V4's with braided hoses are pretty light: 321g front and 347g rear. I expected V4's to be far more heavy. For example same M4's(tech 2 EVO braided) weights 299g frond and 322g rear, not so big difference. So you can ignore weight when choosing between V4/E4/M4 because V4 are the most powerful Hope brakes ever so you can use smaller rotors and no problem. Even 160 must be enough. About construction, TECH 3 levers are really step forward from TECH 2. Construction is more rational, compact and lighter than TECH 2 EVO. About 5% more power, It seems that it's because of different lever blade geo, because master cylinder are the same. Also TECH3 lever blade is better in terms of keeping your fingers not chopped, it's made a little better. The only "con" is that levers are no more universal. About lever feel and working, honestly it's like TECH 2 EVO, but lighter and a little more comfy. Modulation, breaking power are brilliant on both TECH 2 EVO and TECH 3. Aesthetically I love both, TECH 3 is more elegant, when TECH 2 is more brutal. I don't know who are complaining about locking power and bite and creates SAINTS WORSHIP  , but even with M4 203 rotors are total overkill, TECH 3 V4 + 203 rotors are Satan brakes. Saints? f**k'em they are history and has no spares. Even M4 with 203 feels like maggie with fresh gring. E4 are a little better and powerful than M4 and V4 are insane. And one more thing, you don't need nothing than a standard pads with 4-pot hope brakes. Don't know should I try this fancy "trialzone" (idiotic name for a brake imo) that are just V2's with race lever (so they must be called V2 RACE EVO). Some people saying that without special pads they are not so good. I see only one really good thing about them - weight for those who cares about it..
  21. SO WE PUT A HOPES IN YO HOPES SO YOU CAN BRAKE WHILE U BRAKE Hope brakes discussion thread. As promised I'll right some review about different hopes.
  22. No offense guys I'm just trolkidding. It does not matter do you have real estate and expensive car or not, you, Mark and Ali are my favorite riders and just great guys. But I still have some question: Ali says that he >snapped plenty of front 10mm axles but he >don't think I've snapped a rear axle before, especially not on a Hope hub. So Ali abusing front wheel more or 10mm is enough, and he just needs high quality hub on front?
