  1. Thought so! Now to find a new wheel!
  2. Hi all, I have what I think is an onza T-Bird (frame was raw when I bought it.. there seems to be many other brands putting their stickers on the same frame...) As a bit of a project to get me into trials. Long story short, I set the bike up and was riding it briefly, but the rear axle was way back right at the end of the drop outs, I wasn't comfortable with it so I whipped a link out of the chain. Now it tensions up great and is sat slap bang in the middle of the drop out. Ace. Then I came to set my (V) brake up and see pic below.... Tried to adjust every-which way possible and nothing seems to work, the pad will only reach about 50% contact with the rim... Someone on the trials rise s Facebook page has suggested that it maybe a 20" wheel when it should be a 19" wheel... Makes a lot of sense.. especially when I recall sanding the paint off the rim as it appeared to be unused (NOS??) I measured (as best I could) the rim, and I get about 42cm ish... Same as the front.. Can anyone shed any light? Or help me out with a 19" rear wheel if that's the case!?
  3. ^ They look like great bikes! I love picking up biking bargains and spending a bit of time sorting them out and riding and upgrading as you go. That's how I got to own all the bikes I do now! Although I am having an issue with my T-Bird... Will post another thread in a mo.
  4. I hear you swoofty, I do also have a trials bike that I am mucking about/learning on. I'm basically looking at changing my low long heavy HT, that I never use, for something a bit more fun. Not purely for trials, might still run my DJ forks too. Also, it's not really going to be retro running double disc.. A mate had a Flow Myth for sale, but I think he's sold it now annoyingly. Ah yes private, I have seen those two. Didn't know much about that base so didn't think much of it. Will keep an eye on it, ta.
  5. I just missed that trailstar! Yeah I'm thinking along the same lines, my Solid Harlem is a decent bike, certainly never going to snap it, but it weights a ton, with the low BB and long WB it's a bit of a lump to hop around and just does not feel agile enough. My 1993 Kona kilauea feels far more spritely, but I have just built that up for the gf to ride as it's ideal size for her. I also like the ID Jekyll, a mate has one and it looks well, still a touch on the heavy side though.
  6. Hi all, For a good few month now I have been looking at my 4x/DJ bike that I never use, thinking about changing the frame for something lighter and more 'flicky'. After looking around for a while I stumbled across Ali Clarksons videos about his retro build, which is exactly what I'm after (except I will have disc front and rear). I will be using it for street and wouldn't mind getting back into some dirt jumps still. The Solid Harlem I currently have is so low, long and heavy, it's not really good for much that I want to do! I am unsure whether to go for a jump frame, or a small MTB frame, like Ali did... Anyone else built anything similar for inspiration?
  7. It looks like your foot will jam in the front wheel each time you turn away from your front foot anyway! Footjam turns only!
  8. Just been playing 'pedal up' on my phone, pretty cool!
  9. Just getting into it myself! I'm in Marple (from Glossop/Hadfield originally)
  10. How much are you after @isitafox? I have just got a set of truvativ MTB cranks to fit, but struggling with the bash.. was going to make my own, but may not bother if I can sort it easier/cheaply...
  11. Sounds good, will head there when I get the bike sorted (I think we are allowed now!?) Cheers swoofty, I was thinking of something very similar. Get a hole saw the same dia as the integrated seat clamp and notch the seat post, then stick a bar in with some penny washers or something to lock it in place... Maybe if I feel I need a seat..
  12. Ah cool, where abouts is that? Inward thinking down by the end of that millennium walk way thing in new mills might have a few good steps and ledges to try hopping up and stuff?
  13. I was thinking that too. Best plan I think! @isitafox. Are there many natural spots to play in near us? I'm in Marple!
  14. Hi all, I have been riding MTB for many years now, and have always fancied a play with a bit of trials. I picked up a project bike which is coming together, however I am stuck on the seat clamp set up. I think the frame is a da bomb school... Pic added to show what I mean, I have nothing at all fitted so need a seat post and whatever it is inside that clamps it... If it's too much of a faff I just won't run anything at all... Lightweight and all that!? Any advice appreciated! Cheers in advanced folks
