I Dont Understand What Companies Want From Riders Nowadays?
totaltrials replied to Davetrials's topic in Trials Chat
Theres not enough money in trials to give full support to all the riders about, i'll give you a run down of our riders: Lee buchanan - young rider, one rider I have noticed, very good technique and comp riding last year, one to support for the future, and hopefully he will do well. James POrter - amazingly talented rider, good guy, good videos and good promotion, he gets about a lot too. Andrei burton and rob poyser - pretty big elite riders, these get good support from us, to help them achieve at world competitions and national events, them showing there faces and advertising the stuff on the bikes clothing and getting on score sheets is good for the company while they get good support for a good bike and spare parts. Nick Goddard - very good controlled natural rider, 2nd overall Nationals last year elite rider 06, well known rider, does his part with videos and dvds and travels to comps in the uk nationals and even world rounds. Neil T and CLS - top Uk street riders, amazing videos, great promotion, myself and zoo work together to help out these guys, and Aorta for 06 with CLS. Myself - I do sod all, i should be kicked off the team Chris Light - Rider for all kinds of companies, BT also, I import them so it's a joint thing for me and Bt, mainly a 20" rider, should stick with this for 06. Andy Roscoe - amazing rider, truely overlooked, just because of his talent we support him in a rather different way, hopefully he should do some promotion. But basically if they want to ride for us and they want to promote us and they do prmote us well, this will get noted and we will offer more to the riders, but if nothing happens on our behalf the support is quite low so we can't afford to support people. James Porter is possibly the best rider we have for supporting us, so we supported him a lot in 06 and he recieved the most bits when he needed them, and he helped us out a lot, basically we support them and they support us. You can put stickers on peoples bikes and get them to wear a t-shirt and that is sponsorship, but there is no support, I think the support is better than being"sponsored" as it helps people through riding without worrying when things break or go wrong, as we are here to help them. It was always obvious that the marts, akrigg tongues cooper where high profile pros, they got paid from big companies and done demos and traveled the world, but now the internet has offered a lot more in the way of advertsing without having to pay money to do demos. With the scene being a lot bigger, a lot more good riders are about which everybody knows personally, if you don't know an amazing rider personally their profile is a lot higher as they seem more "special" Thats the thing with CLS he's hardly on the forum and not many people know him he has a bigger profile, when do you ever see martyn ashton or akrigg on the forum or going on big rides, it's the way they market their profile that makes you a big rider. Danny Butler is one of these riders, still quite talked about a lot but starting to become a well known god like rider for UK, Ben savage too is very similar. Phil. -

If your talking about the rock on section 9 inter, I actually couldnt believe that was in inter. It was quite big, thin, and the top was on an angle aswell as the front, and with the rock being really slippery I thought it was very hard, ye you could have dabbed around it VERY easilly without even going on the rock, but thats not the point, Tom welsh boy I was with was totally shocked haha. But it was the same for everybody so in the end doesn't really matter. Phil.

We just left the bikes scattered about, outside the tents over night Phil.

I thought the sections in elite where a good level for the circumstances, I found the rocks where Slippery as hell but get a bit of mud on them it wasn't as bad but still slippery. In the end I didn't bother with half of my second lap, and had a much better time off my bike then on my bike. I didn't even see anybody fall on their backsides on all that mud, I'm quite amazed I didn't too. As for the venue, it was god the way the cars where so close and all the sections where close together, that does make a change, but it seems as though the motorbikes got to it first and because they can't ride the rocks they just chewed the land up, so it was one big slush of mud, I'd expect it to be brilliant in the summer, I don't mind slippery rocks, but with so much mud, I just couldn't be bothered. Maybe the venue would have been better off at brimham or addingham, even back cown isn't as muddy as this place, I was there the day before and it wasn't muddy at all, I talked to a few people who said they where happy to be there but just aren't really having a good time because of the venue. But hopefully it didn't put off too many people from doing trials, as it's not always like that, many of the other venues are better, I'd say leave that quarry till the summer and it will be amazing. I heard the people who marked the sections had a hard time with the weather, so thanks for that it must have been pretty wet and the observers too, it was organised well, there was some queing but I think because there was a lot of fives the ques went down quite quickly. Phil.

I have tested the EBC red pads, for a good few months too. I can safely say the Avid pads are far better. I wasn't happy with the EBC pads after a long time, they just didnt have the bite I could remember the avid pads used to have, the avid pads lasted me over a year they did get worse the longer I had them but still worked. So I ended up putting my old chipped avid pads back on and I noticed the difference straight away, for sure the avid pads are better, no doubt about it myself. Phil.

I think it's rather harsh not letting bikes on, just because you have a bike doesnt mean you should ride miles and miles to work. I have had many many problems trying to get bikes on trains, there are trains from Liverpool to Manchester, with bike areas just for bikes, GREAT, that's good, but when you get little idiots who put all there 20 cases of luggage there so you cant put your bikes there is just far too annoying, so when you say to the platform attendant that, "there are cases in the bike area so i cant put my bike there, any chance you can ask them to move it" Very politely I must add as always, I get a response like this: "Don;t you dare tell me what to do, I'll do my job as I please, get off the train, your not allowed on" There have also been times when they won't let us put bikes in the bike spaces, hmmmm. I don't use trains any more. Phil.

Chain whips of fixed cogs, best thing about echo cogs with the holes in you can get them off with my custom tool . But, as for a cog, it looks great, will probably be heavier than others, Ive never heard of any front cogs breaking so Im not sure if there is much point in it being beefy, the tolerances thing is load of rubbish on a cog, I would doubt they are checked so much to keep some crazy stupid tolerances when it's totally not needed, from what I can see it's just a cog like all the others, when you machine cogs like that nothing can go wrong to get such bad tolerances, ye, so, they look good i suppose

I think £8 a day is rather expensive especially as the owners of buthiers charge 27 Euros for a week of camping and 3.60 Euros per night of camping, nobody in England would pay £8 a night to camp, it's probably just koxx trying to rip everyone off as usual when everyone wants to just go for a ride not pay for the big boys to stay in 5star hotels. Phil.

HAHAHA, FUNNIEST TOPIC EVER, PERIOD. Phil.

I have always used a PC with windows on it, XP pro at the moment, so I've never had a mac, but I have had a play with them and they sure do seem easy to use, I really like the OSX mac use, real easy and clean looking, but I don't think I could switch to a mac as it wil be totally different, all it needs is another version of windows i.e vista and it wil be fine. And what's the deal with explorer haha, it's really really bad, why microsoft make something a lot better, or do they? I'm guessing the people with macs will vote mac and the people will pcs will vote pcs even though they havn't used a mac haha, ofcourse that's just what "should" happen. Phil.
