  1. slightly off topic but im probably gonna do a maths masters, will it still be possible to go down the engineering road after this or will i HAVE to do an engineering degree. because im at a stage where i have no idea what i want to do and maths seems like it leaves more options for me.

Theres a guy at work with a maths degree and he's a CAD techie. You'll get far more money if you get a qualification that applies your maths skills to a certain profession, as generally the degrees in question will test your maths abilities as much as they will need to be.

  2. Full of pretentious knobs

I think that about all of my mates' uni friends anyway!

I prefer engineering full stop, if i did anything else it'd be town planning, although the bureaucracy would drive me nuts! Theres loads of things civils and structural engineering can be applied to, and on the civils side theres both Civil Engineering and Construction Management to choose from, dunno about structural.

I do civils, mainly for residential projects and its mainly road and drainage design, and the more detailed layout design that the planners dont do. The infrastructure sides quite good too because you get involved in the planning process a bit more.

  3. Are you kidding? The architects in our place are minted. And the reason the engineers earn more is because they've gotta fix the architects f**k-ups  There are a lot of areas of architecture and a lot of practices do very different things, even within the same field, so you can't really generalise that easily.

  4. Depends what you want to do, you could slug it out for a full architecture course and say bye to a lot of years, or do structural engineering and then focus on the architectural side. could enquire with a few practices and ask which might be best and what jobs are available and wha tthey include, obvisuly pretending that youre interested in working for them or something. A lot of people at work do it part time, but that really does take a while. I think some have done their part one, then do their part 2's part time while working.

  5. Didn't know him but its yet another tragic loss, for his friends and family as well as anyone who rode with him.

And all this is starting to put me off A. Coming on trials forum, and B. finishing my direct access course.

  6. Some good shouts! My dad was listening to pink floyd earlier and i thought 'gotta grab some tabs' but totally forgot! Completely forgot about Oasis too, even though it was one of the first songs i learnt, along with Twist & Shout by the beatles, which is another to add to the list! Good call on Straits too, and Finch  Been a few years since i listened to them, still i bet everyone knows the words to Letters to You and its so easy to play i still remember most of it!

    Keep it up chaps!

  7. Bit of an impulse buy i bought the other lunchtime - an acoustic guitar. So who knows any good acoustic songs to bust out at parties etc that people are gonna know? I know plenty of decent acoustic stuff like Dustin Kensrue, Dallas Green, TNA, Luke Pickett, Frank Turner etc, but im more after classics along the lines of the cure that people are gonna be familiar with. I can already play guitar so thats not a problem.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  8. My 4X setups a DMR Trailstar MkII with pike 454's and Juicy 7's, absolutely mint and my favourite bike by a long way. With with twin rails/dmr motos that'd be pretty good if you dont mind a hardtail. I used to ride 12 miles a night on it (road miles) and it was fine, although you did notice that it was a bit short at times.

  9. It wasn't very well advertised, was a small bit in the Times and Citizen paper, but nothing on the side/promo PDF schedule thingymabob. It seemed quite well received by people, so if you ever get moaned at for riding street just say 'well i was inspired by the river festival!'. Might even be a good excuse for a trials park!

  10. Just had these 2 songs on repeat for ages, awesome. Especially the August Burns Red track

Possibly the best two live bands ever aswell.

Been listening to the new NFG and HTL a lot lately

  11. Sounds like theyre just making use of the advertiding opportunity, nowhere does it say to remove the content or you'll be charged a sum of money so i wouldnt worry about that. And you'd be to blame if anything did happen, as it's technically you whos broadcasting the material.

  12. Disturbed sound good for about 20 seconds until you realise their songs all sound the same.

Anyway, im listening to Congratulations Smack and Katy, by Reggie and the Full Effect.

  13. Christ I can't beleive it, i thought there were a lot of stickies and glanced through and couldn't even imagine i'd see this.

Like a lot of others I never met him, but a fair few people have added me to MSN over the years and he's one of the few i'd actually speak to as he was such a great bloke to talk to.

Hearing about people dying is a common thing - the news, local papers etc and people often go 'oh god' then move on, but even when it's someone you don't even necessarily know but are so familiar with it comes as so much more of a shock and makes you think so much more about it, and when it occurs like this after so many others in a relatively small community it really does make you think before stepping out the front door.

I can't honestly think of anything to say thats not been said already, but farewell to a fantastic bloke.

    R.I.P
