Hey, Half the post's above are a load of rubbish, I won't go in to which ones!! I'm an old school rider who has been running tar on smooth rims since I started trials about 6 or more years ago. Which tar to use? The best tar to use is roofing or road tar. Don't melt it or peel it off the roads, that's just daft, I wouldn't recommend stealing it either cos you might get caught and it makes you scum. Go to any roofer/builders yard e.g Travis Perkins etc. Just ask for a block about the size of a tennis ball, you should get it for free or cheap, it will keep you going for years. How to apply the tar? Flip your bike upside down so it rests on the handle bars and seat/back tyre. Holding the seat stay or chain stay tube lift your bike up so its just on the handle bars. Then either spin the wheel or cranks to get the wheel moving. Then apply the tar to the braking surface, for best results push firmly but so hard your trying to push your bike over. The aim is to get a speckled effect like large dust or tiny rain drops. Do this on both sides of the rim. Each time you apply tar ride around and gently drag(hold half on so the pads drag the rims) the brakes for a minute or so, this helps the tar spread more evenly over the rim. Bad things and warnings!! If the tar gets too hot like by dragging the brake too much whilst riding or on a summers day it melts. When it melts it becomes very sticky like thick glue. Not always but often when you pull the brake the pads will lock on to the rim but not release. This is bad. Imagine your brake locked on at the edge of a drop off? Face plant coming soon!! Tar is bad in the wet, in the rain it turns to oil, so your brakes wont work well if at all!! Do's and Dont's Never apply tar to your front rim unless you know what your doing otherwise you'll be over the bars before you know what's hit you!! You don't want big lumps, big lines, a completely covered rim!!! Remember - It's better to use less than too much, you can always add more.

The riding is really good man, you have got loads better. But the video was fairly average. Get a tripod and a better camera. If you cant afford one then at least rest the camera on a wall, the floor etc cos then you get a much better quality pic and no shaking and moving around so much. You will be well impressed just by keeping the camera still. Keep it up. H

I know it sounds like the same old topic, my mate has just graduated with a 1st class honours degree in product design. He has worked for DMR and spent a year making and testing bike parts. He is now looking at making a new trials frame. Can you give me what you think are the best 5 trials frames on the market now!! 1 2 3 4 5 Cheers Guys

This is always the same old story. Kings and profiles everyone says are better quality etc. But hope XC are so much more reliable. All hubs slip at some point. I have been running hope XC's for 5 years and never had a problem!!

Yeah that was funny. Thats a pretty big gash!! I always wear shin pads, a few summers back I got 2 bad ones in the same day on same shin from my pedals. Still slip sometimes but not even a scratch cos my pads, I just smile and think "Hmm i love pads"

This was done ages ago on one of the koxx videos (Try-all spots) that came out years ago by Vincent Hermance. He takes it off some 10 year old or so, its for kids, the annoying ones you get in the skate parks always in the way.

The best tubes for the rear are the nokian DH tube at 3mm thick rubber and a good tyre pressure of 40 psi they should be fine. H

Make sure you guys bring some people, looking a bit thin on numbers, so slap some of your riding bitches out of bed. Weather looks cloudy but dry and a good 15 degrees!!! H

Yeah thats a fair piont, it is pretty cool over there, I used to live over there years back. There are some amazing rocks all over the a bit like porthcrawl!! I would say the main street would be better. H

Generally if your a fit youngish person it won't affect you in quite the same way. My dad has it but cos hes much older he has pay more attention to the problem and how it affects him. Not the same but I got asthma about 2 years ago after being totally fit and full of energy. It was a big blow cos now i just get really out of breath, esp when its cold. But it means I have to work more on my fitness so my lungs can adjust. Don't let it stop you doing what you love!! H
