  1. WAAAAAH that is Old Skool like happy shopper. Ive still got a '97 20" GT tempest. The guy who rode it gave the frame to me. It was his first trials bike he was a riding legend back in 1997
  2. Mr Tartridge is the Pro in the King Dept. Its just the allen key on the non drive side of the hub, undo and tighten the silver cover clockwise (the allen key provides nice leverage). Then retighten the bolt. I belive its an imperial allen key because Christopher King is American. This happens on new kings because the bearings are not pressed in all the way to start with because they are new. After a few rides the wobble comes. Tighten once and it should go if not do it again Trev
  3. TRAINS AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRFGGGEGFGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  4. XC is an olympic sport. Europeans allways winn on uber light specialized s-works's
  5. Ive ridden a couple briefly when we had them in at work. They seem real nice for the money. When we had them in they came with the wider tire on the front and thinner on the back. Watch out for that and swap the round if you need to. A little weighty for a twenty inch but at 250 whos complaining Trev
  6. I run egg beaters (not for trials), they do have a large amount of "float" in them. This is the amount of left and right movement on the pedal before you release from the pedal. Despite the four entry points they are much harder to clip into then my old two sided shimano efforts. I really like they way the clip out though and they fell amazing when riding. Float is really useful in technical XC to manipulate the direction of the bike as opposed to a road cleat which will have next to none. Also with there design you get zero mud clog in the winter. Thumbs up all round, Trev p.s. check out the "triple ti" model at £280, uber light
  7. Trev Allen Matt Staples + Iaesha We will be getting in around 11:00.
  8. I do not feel that there most people distinguish between street and natural. Yes the obvious physical differences but real street riding does not require 365mm chainstays and 14foot whell bases. There are many people who ride, UCI style riding on a man made envioronment which is not street it is not natural in its true sense either. Riding today has taken a swing from street style a few years ago do a hybrid of the two. I still ride a Brisa well my new Woodstock came today but to many of you both are unridable due to the geometry. Real street is dead and is only keep gasping for air on its death bed by the few people who ride 24" or oldschool geometry frames. UCI street is more common, which involves uber powerful brakes and uber long bikes you cant manual. I bet i could out manual a BT Ninja or a Python on my dads 19" framed giant. I want a street revival. God bless Eddie Tongue and Chriss Akgrig. A dying breed kept alive by argueably the best looking riders in England. Trev
  9. Tickets booked. Will be getting there round 11 ish. See 'yall white boys there <T>
  10. I run it because of the geometry works and has improved the ride over the maasive, retro brisa stem i was running Trev
  11. Trying to book tickets and it list 4 possibilities for tickets do you just book general admission and do it that way im confused and dont want to be sectioned off from the forum lot by some tw!t in a reflective coat. What do i b0ok does it matter etc Trev
  12. Upside down is no worries. most 3TTT stems even come with interchangable graphics too so it doesnt look upside down. I run and upside down/ right way round roady stem and it be pimp. Like it loads Trev
  13. well i would like to impress on them my point of veiw. Remember a fool is someone who copys the fool, and to hear people talking about Pinches from doing manuals is just plain dumb. Im not trying to imply that a bad brake is everyones cup of tea. I dont ride with it all the time especially on bigger moves. I was by no means trying to make young impressionable riders crash, although if they do there is a "sites vid and pics" section where one might post such a thing. Joking aside, ill ride my way and donate my two pence to this forum and i believe there is too much fuss over brake pads, mine are two yeards old and suit me down to the ground. Trev (young impressionable riders beware)
  14. What is happenning about the tent arrangements are thier different sections which you have to prebook into. I pressume we want a massive trials section away from smelly BMXers who dont wash?!!?!?!
  15. No, i am a great believer in Carbon composites and have studied it alot. I do know that there is a somewhat a stangness in the indusrty as many people dont trust it. This is simply ignorance about the mechanical properties. Visit the "lite speed" website and you will be amazed by the preformance of CF. I will be getting Carbon bars this week. Trev
  16. Thats not the point. There is every point in doing it. If it makes you a more fluid rider which rides not on the limit of everything. I think the Japenese have it right. Not only do they eat Sharks and cool poisonous fish but they ride better too. It will be a help to your overall riding ability especially in comps. Its like the army who run with bricks in their bag, and the whole "Wax on Wax off" culture. Trev (currently cant ^_^ )
  17. the equation Force x Distance. If you aplly this to stress on bars, especially on high BB bikes where you ride over the front alot then the stress on the bars is far greater because you have 14/15" of leverage each side. Now a stem is much shorter than 15" at least on stocks. And stems can be made from Carbon JT! they use metal inserts for the threads. Carbon stem link " Bike huts" new carbon stem is about £40 quid
  18. Japanese riders dont like good brakes. When they have brakes which work they put oil or spit on the rim. Sounds made to those with £30 pads heavy grind and tar i know. But watch them in comps, there like Bike Ninjas. I tried this (bad brakes that is). Why not, it just makes you concentrate on being on the object not holding on for dear life with your wheel locked and you Mag lever about to snap. Try it confidence isnt grat to start with but its about precision and fluidity not absolute stopping. Trev
  19. Carbon fibre is a very useful composite. It can prvide 6 times the tensile strength of steel with much much less weight. Current handle bar trends are leaning towards Carbon now with ONZA catering for the masses not just the minted using it. It is a band wagon many of us have jumped on. Yet ive seen many bars, snap. It is not nice, ive also seen people with carbon splinters across there chest. So why when there is soo much stress on 29/30" bars due to the leverage are we pushing lightweight bars in trials. Composites can provide massive strength but are polarised (means strength is directional) Where as metal which is granular has equal strength throught. Why have we not seen and equal or greater push to save that extra 100 or 105 grams on stems. Ive never seen a stem break. Racing bikes use carbon stems, they dont break. Ok so its more stress than on a racer, but there is real potential for carbon stems which is not being taken. I'd make them if I had a way of heating polyacrylonitrile to 1100 degrees. I dont think Gas mark 9 will cover it though. Trev (By the way I ride street (real street not pansy UCI style street) and dont care how much my bike wieghs)
  20. thats too true matt. Your current influence from riding my 24" bmx is so obvious. Your right unless your riding 100% UCI natural that will be awful, your 5.0 was far to jittery for my liking, Not to say that my 405mm chainstay on my Brisa is the way but ill pay to see anyone hop to manual on a Ninja, Street is cool not just riding UCI on concrete but unadulterated street style is what Trials has been about for soo long. New Gen Trials is over rated, not say we should ride 18" XC bikes circa 1994 but isnt it pushing it a little?? Trev
  21. I dont reckon I could do this move anymore, ill try for NASS i reckon though. Im a wee bit bigger, (8inch than i was) and alot more grandad like. ooh me hip just clicked argghh Trev
  22. Castle Cary is the place, shuttles should be running every 20minutes for a single pound sterling. :- Trev
  23. Well so far as I know its from Clapham Common like last year. I would be going but im to late to enter as all the places are full. As for mechanics, I did it last year as one of the few, the first year Halfords ran it. It was a complete shambles. It was soo bad it was err... really bad i guess. The guy Dave Evans who organised was a complete **** (insert explicit of choice) he had no idea what was going on, we were on the start line,so had to get up at 4am despite having a plush hotel near by. (hotel was the best bit). Anyway the parts that were promised never showed up. for the firt two hours, we were only functioning proplery when everyone had left. Then clever Dave told us to go further down the track to help. Not realising we had to go the same way as the riders and never actually got anywhere, its hard to over take 27,000 cyclists apparently. So we drove around for about 4 hours looking for the place we were supposed to find, which changed every three seconds via phone from Dave Evans, then just left after getting shouted at by alot of angry mums riding battered old bikes with punctures What can you do eh? Trev ps (london to southend should be alot less packed, and better organised fingers crossed)
  24. old school me goign back 2/3years?!?! i guess only 0.7 meg worth of giggles linkage
