  1. Umm no!!! It looks as though he is doing this because of a lack of power. Not surprising that he has to do this, given his age and size. In a few years, I'm sure he will have a better vertical jump and be able to do what you are suggesting. Awesome riding for age and size though.
  2. Julien Duay - In support This is the biggest issue at the moment, the minimal number of female competitors. A very valid and important point. Another issue is that for certain sports they only allow a certain number of events, so say Trials is added another cycling event may need to be removed. My personal view given that it is a very new sport that has progressed a phenomenal amount over the last 10 years, it is realistic to aim for a demonstration for 2016 with hopeful inclusion in the 2020 Olympics, it will give many countries (such as China) time to start training up their youngsters, hopefully females as well, and it could be taken seriously as a legitimate sport by countries outside of Europe and start to attract some decent funding and sponsors. Just my spiel.
  3. That is a big call!! I was under the impression that massive drop gaps were not mandatory to be a top street rider. A top competition rider is unlikely to put their body through regular massive drop gaps, because of the risk of injury, and potentially shortened career.

    Bruno Arnold

I think they mean, national record. He did not break Benito's record.

    Bruno Arnold

Very old, but good find. Dani Comas a long time ago got an official record of 128cm. At the European champs in Heubach over the weekend, Benito got 138cm (20"), and Vincent got 130cm (26"), I think. Giacomo got 125cm or 120cm. Dani didn't go in the sidehop comp, but I'm pretty sure he would still beat Vince.
  6. Thanks! Yeah it is not setup up correctly, the thread has seized up and it can't be undone, so I have no way to load up the spring, so I basically need a new chain tensioner. It still does the job. I'm riding a different bike now with horizontal dropouts so it doesn't really matter, but when I make it back to Australia at the end of the year, I will probably fix up the bike.
  7. Here are some old clips thrown together of a few rides on my old Atomz back in Tasmania, I've moved from Tasmania, Australia to Switzerland for the year, so I'm riding a Koxx Hydroxx now. Hope you enjoy Filmed in HD, but the youtube quality is pretty bad, had issues with uploading it to the site. It is about 2min long, HD version is 76mb, not very compressed. OK here is the youtube version, crap quality. - JD Atomz Here is the HD downloadable version JD Atomz

    Power?

Quite the opposite actually. I'm 23 and finishing off my medical degree this year. I also plan on going into the sports medicine field, hopefully eventually spend some time working with a cycling team. Sounds arrogant, but you asked me. :)" I wasn't having a go at anyone in particular. People are a little too friendly and nice on this forum, I was providing constructive criticism I have plenty more if required.

    Power?

Twin studies beg to differ on that point mate. Genetics does play a major role in what path you will follow in life, and I did not say you would be automatically good at a sport, many people tend to gravitate towards areas of their life that they are good at, be it sport or academically. People seem to be talking about strength a lot. A trials bike doesn't weigh a lot. The only awesome tank of a rider I've seen is Dani Comas and he appeared to tank up after being out injured for a year or two. Some of the riders like CLS, and Tunnicliffe look dangerously skinny, it looks like they are doing a bit of cross-training for high jump. You could probably put a 15yo football player in the gym and he could out squat and bench them, but who could sidehop higher. You guys watched Federer in the semi's, amazing power, and racket speed, technique, placement etc.... He could not lift much at the gym. I could guarantee that, I could assure you that if tanking up would help the power of his serve/shots, he would have done it.

    Power?

I find it entertaining reading people's ill-informed and generally stupid comments. Yes technique plays a huge role in how high you can side-hop, tap-up and how far you can gap, but to not acknowledge that basic genetics play a major role in the power, height, distance etc.. you can generate is just plain stupid. This is no different than any other sport that requires power (ie. tennis, high-jump, sprinting, basketball etc..) I'm not sure if its that some of you can't come to terms with the fact that however hard you train you are probably never going to come close to Vince, Dani and Benito in power moves. Or is it that you just dropped out of school at a young age and never covered sports science or basic physiology. World class sport is the domain of of the genetic elite "the freak", accept it guys, its only when a sport is in its infancy that those less well equipped genetically can make it.
