  1. im thinking of buying this bike (as well as the adamant A3 im getting) what do you think of it. im keen on it as i have ridden trials for ages and i think ill find the newer style frames weird. got some nice parts on it, king headset etc.
  2. in 1996 i had a cannondale beast of the east and a monty 221 X lite. this was around the time that the video "chainspotting" was out.. bit like this probably a bit before most peoples time on this forum.. at this time V brakes were only just appearing, in fact might not even have existed at all.. in 1997 i got the magura 10th anniversary brakes. they were brilliant. CNC levers. braided hoses..
  3. what?? so it someone asked you if your bike was stolen you would say yes?????? why would you when it isnt stolen?? that's obvious.
  4. what and if he wasn't a thief he would say "yes it's stolen"??? him denying it doesnt prove anything either way. could be nicked. might not be. but either way he isnt going to say it is.
  5. i take it if you run a rear chris king hub then you would need to remove the front free wheel cos kings are cassette hubs arnt they? personally i cant see the point in this. a front free wheel has always worked well for trials, so why go back to rear free wheel?
  6. yeh i already mentioned that. i will just swap them and run the levers upside down until i order a hope trial for the front and a different lever for the rear hs33.
  7. yeh ive seen you on one of the canadian forums. saw your vid. bikes seem to be cheaper in canada for brand new bikes. hbtrials do a decent spec adamant for $1600 or so. the same spec in the uk from tartybikes is £1175 (approx $2300) only thing is i will have to import a right hand front hope trial disk brake as i cant use american style brakes set up.
  8. ok, cheers for the tip, but they will do the job until they break! ill probably change bits over time. but its a good starting point.
  9. i think they just mean its a longer lever so you can get greater moment on it, hence stronger braking.
  10. might be lol! i have heard he is a good guy. and its what ive been after!
  11. thought so. tarty's full build is £1175 and seems similar spec. just wanted it confirmed as a good set up. as i said i havnt ridden for 4 years or so. my last bike was a 2002 monty x lite!
  12. yeh, bikes are a bit cheaper where i moving to. cant wait to get back into trials. havt ridden for about 4 years. only pain is the brakes are the wrong way round so i will have to run the levers upside down until i get some different ones. how much would it cost in the UK would you say. mainly Echo parts. bb7 front, hs33 rear. £500! not £50. and im not importing it, im leaving the UK this thursday coming!! my house is sold, flights booked. ready to go! its from a shop that has changed owners and the previous owner still has some stock to shift.
  13. im looking at buying this bike next week for £500. its brand new do you reckon its worth it? its not in the UK btw! £500 is roughly the conversion.
  14. not really, seeing as the old 10th anniversary ones from 1997 were the same. red CNC lever. they were great brakes. came with braided lines which were pretty slick back then before disks really took off. i mean V brakes were new then! ah the good old days..
  15. not bad spelling, just bad typing when not paying attention and not really bothered about re reading it! and im only Ex uk police because im moving to the Canadian police next week and i cant see any stong evidence at all. all i can see is a bad ebay ad. i hardly think that means anything. as has been said it could be a parent who hasnt got a clue. no i was crap, cos i was the sort of one who refused to tow the line and be a social worker. i was one that pissed off the bosses and the government by doing things the public wanted. like arresting the bad people and not just hassling innocent people just to get good figures so the government can say what a good job they are doing!
  16. i think you lot are reading too much into it. when he says standard front brake, he clearly means its a cable brake, not a hydraulic one. not the one that came AS standard. not everyone who has a bike like this know what they have got. could of bought it from a friend etc etc. just cos someone doesnt know every little part of the bike doesnt mean its nicked. has it occurrred to you that you lot on here know a lot as you are keen on trials, some normal people who arnt that interested in all the ins and out of it just get a bike cheap. this is my opinion as an ex UK police officer.
  17. ok, so is it different geometry or something? cheers for the reply
  18. what does the CLS part stand for with a zoo python 2006 frame? wht difference does having a CLS one make?
