  1. front: any decent hydralic disc or cable bb7 rear: hs33 with a rim grind and grind specific pads anything along those lines
  2. get a grind and grind specific pads and you will enjoy it, although anyone hearing u ride wont like the noise!
  3. u also need spacers so that the cog you choose from the cassette doesnt move from side to side. most spacer kits including this one: LINK come with a cog anyway
  4. HOW MUCH IT COST ME!!! Bought it 2nd hand (onza t-rex spec 2) came with spec 2 including echo control fork. Ive put front disc, diff stem, hope xc ti rear hub, new chain, middleburn cranks, a grind, diff front wheel, new pads, new bb, pedals, and got locks and pump etc. Key: How much i spent (what the rrp is without discounts etc) Bike 200 (550 new) Hub 50 (120rrp) Wheel, disc grips 10 minus front hs33 (15+40+6-35=26rrp) Pads 18 Pedals 21 (25rrp) Chain 5.50 (16rrp) Cranks 100 (138rrp) BB 30 (35rrp) Locks+stuff 65 (75rrp) Total= 481 (total= 1003) saving of = 552 so what else do i like about it? well it works for me ive improved by 300% in the past moneth (since i owned it) couldnt do any trials moves before on a merlin (old skool trials). basically the bike gives me confidence to try and do stuff i couldnt do before!
  5. go to halfords and ask if they have the apollo grips with flames on (made by velo) and they are wicked. ive got a sweaty palm problem but as my hands are gettin harder the grip is gettin better! just dont be a wimp an get some calluses!!!!! (but if u cant the foam grips are pretty good!)
  6. just got a grind and koxx greens.... absolutely wicked. cant believe that brakes could be so loud though. dont ride at 12am..... lol
  7. buy a secondhand bike (i got complete rideable bike for £200-onza t-rex 26") then spec it how you want by saving money by getting secondhand/discount parts. then get riding, replacing everything you break with new parts then a year or 2 down the line you will end up with a custom mint bike (and using experience of repairing it) that you can maintain perfectly. also the hit in the wallet isnt so sudden at the start! well im only at the riding part but ive saved so much money.......
  8. i used to be a national open water swimmer (5km+ races) i was 8th in the grand prix events last year, exams took over my trainin time this year i go power kiting a lot, a lot means shit loads i like gettin drunk because im a lightweight an it costs me f**k all (plus absinthe!) i really enjoy driving (been on a lambo track day i like girls....... i dont like all the money in football but i play that socially, most weeks im not man of the match but the stupid-hyped-up-man-that-chases-the-ball-trying-to-put-a-leg-in then i end up scored 2 goals to total my 4 goals ever scored in my life. i shout phrases like "pass to me i have no ball skills" ive also been known to do work for my uni course, but generally at the last minute. meanin that hobby is called sprint coursework. which includes starting a 25 page assignment at 6pm when its got to be in by 9am.....
  9. the technique of manualling involves rolling along on ur back wheel. so going up a hill is against gravity??? but learning to wheelie up a hill is easier but manualling makes it harder!
  10. they do everyones nuts in! just play around on an afternoon you dont have to do anything but u'll get the hang of it, but once u get it perfect, just LEAVE THEM!
  11. i bust the axle then the freewheel along with the 18t cog that was new in 2 hours but had another one on a different bike for ages! couldnt fault it apart from the engaments! cheap too
  12. this weather? get a grind and koxx greens (wet, winder riding)
  13. ive not seen bigger than 128mm before
  14. u need to find the 'balance point' controlling backward movements with the brake and forward movements with a 'pump' of the pedals. if u find the front wheel falling too much try and sin the pedals one revolution. practice normal 'wheelies' first and u will find that controlling the balance point easy then move onto leaving back a little further and 'pumping' the pedals. watch some videos of bmx or anyone on a 20" an u will see the motion they do (sort of moving arse closer to rear wheel and pulling up a little on bars) but on a 26" the motion isnt as obvious. and above all PRACTICE! no matter how much a tit u look falling over the back of the bars!
  15. it was a try-all hub (yes i mean freewheel) but it had some triple thing it in which made it have 108 points? heres a link: http://www.biketrials.ca/content/view/134/2/
  16. id also like to recommend tarty bikes! ill soon be ordering some cranks soon and whilst looking around ive found their prices are really competitive too!
  17. im actually gettin koxx greens an a grind on wed so no slip for me!
  18. lol u'll all look like fools when people are walkin past and ur spreading bits of the floor on ur wheels! but it actually does make a difference though looks like ill have to be gettin some!
  19. i think i had 3 engagement points in mine? thats what u get for buyin a 2nd hand bike! well the axle in the hub lasted an hour for me, then snapped the cog and the freewheel. now it has 0! hope have 32+ but theres hubs that have 72 (chris king) and ive seen one with 108
