  2. the bike shop where i work carry alot of hub bearings in stock, various sizes etc. as said above we normally compare the codes or knock out the bearings and compare side by side, could try your local bike shop, still expensive at 5 to 10 quid a bearing but by the sounds of it cheaper than a bearing supplier!

  3. as said above they should hammer out, to fit the new ones you should use the hope drift set to get the bearings pressed in square to prevent uneven wear, local bike shop should have a hope drift set.

    if you're having too much trouble with it, send it back to hope and get them to do it :P

  4. new front hub came finally after 2 1/2 months, now running red king classics front and rear B)

    no probs at all with skipping as i service the rear hub quite regularly with the proper king ringdrive lube and give it a right good clean out etc.

  5. i run a king classic rear and an ancient hope suspension splined front (have had a king classic front on order for almost 3 months from the distributor evolution :sleeping: )

  6. pretty sure aztec make disc pads for maguras, their pads come in two varieties, enduro or hardcore. the hardcore ones being the sintered. ebc might make pads for maguras, if so they have their 'red' compound which are very grippy

    check with your local bike shop, sure they'll have more info on both of the above :)

  7. if it's snapped in the middle then deffinately not, the preload will go from the hub and the hub will probably start to skip, this could 1. damage the hub even more 2. damage you when you go to do a gap and it skips and you end up falling

    best getting it replaced now or you could be paying more money for new internals for the hub and more money for a new helmet

  8. for a singlespeed mtb hub, either a chris king rear singlespeed hub or hope are now making a singlespeed rear hub too

    hope is obviously a bit cheaper, but king is prob a bit better and it comes standard with heavy duty axle upgrade which is good if you're heavy on your rear wheel

  9. hey darren, if you pop in past work on saturday can swap it over for you if you want, got the proper imperial allen key for it and can also take in my chris king ring drive lube and give it a quick service for you. . . . . .

    should only take about 10 mins to do if the old axle is already out :)

  10. it is quite normal to have a small amount of movement in the pad, an old set of pads i had on the front it used to feel like my headset was loose if you held the brake on and rocked the front end

    doesn't do it now bu obvously different between different pads

  11. i'm pretty sure someone has mentioned before that hope make a silicon based lube that you apply to the pistons which will prevent them from sticking as much

    basically you take the wheel out, put a large flat blade screwdriver between the bads and then pumpt the lever to bring the pads together, apply the lube to the exposed area of the pistons, reset the pads back with the screwdriver and that should be it!

  12. ats classsics aren't too expensive compared to some other wheels, depends where you get them really!

    my wheels (without tyres) cost me £380 delivered from german ebay, yet over here they are about £110 each with shipping on top. heard of other people spending thousands on rare bbs rims by the time they source new dishes and then have them refurbed and assembled. . . . .

  13. i think it's very silly when politics take over, look at bmx'ing, you can be considdered wack for what clothes you wear, what components you have and the style of your riding

    i ride trials because it's fun, i like to be out on my bike and slowly improve. some riders ride big, some small, some technical and others just ride a mixture of all that, everyone has there strengths and weaknesses on a bike

    i think it's really crap when people get really critical about this, they're obviously having fun on their bike so who should be critical about the way they do it

    i think it's great watching anyone ride, they all have their own standards that they ride to and shouldn't be pressured into comparing themselves to anyone else
