  1. Congratulations again to Ben (Y)

Interesting video, I was wondering what a major trials event looked like! Much more people on the course than I realised- inspecting it etc (I guess thats what they were doing?)

  2. Thanks guys,

One of my friends dads works in an industrial estate, maybe I should go "visit" there at somepoint (Y) Or even better if I ask nicely he might be able to get some for me...

Hi Henrat, no Im not actually from York, I live not too far from Chester but Im studying at York. (Y) Ill be in my second year when I go back in october. Ill be living off campus, not too far from the uni, whats the trials scene like there?

The jumpspot in the pictures is a place we called "The Sandies" and its in Hawarden in North Wales. I think iits been flattened now though, Ill have to ask around!

  3. Hi there (Y)

Im new to trials as well, only just over a week since I got my trials bike but im having an awesome time as well!

Just going to do some uni work now, then as soon as Im finished Ill be out on the bike (Y)

The trashzen site is well worth a look at as mentioned, and trials-online.com has some good reading material/tips and vids also.

    Good luck!

  4. Hi!

Just adding to Onzaboymark's post about the noisy KMC's... mine is a litte annoying also. I think it is everytime it passes over the "shifting tooth" on the rear cassette it catches and makes a sound. Its not the rear mech adjustment as I have fiddled with that many times already! If the Collapse is quiet I might consider that if/when I need a new chain.

  5. Thanks for the comments (Y) Daahnihillaaaa, your post made me laugh!

Im not as quick at learning as some of you seem to think though - I used to ride DH/dirt jump a few years ago so I had some *skill* controlling the bike....hmmm... maybe (Y) , lol.

Thats me on my old Santa Cruz a few years ago down the local jumpspot.

Any ideas where I can get some pallets from anyone? (Y)

    Thanks,

  6. As mentioned, the Odi Ruffian lock on's are nice and thin. I got mine with an MBUK subscription. They certainly do lock on, and havent slipped at all but Im not finding them all that comfortable. Having said that as I only started trials last week it is probably just my hands rather than the grips! My Yeti grips I had on my DH were much more comfortable.....

  7. :- Thanks for the support everyone!

I have been out for 1-2 hours most days, after that I am a sweat-ball and cant take anymore (need to work on the fitness!)! But when I am out it is non stop riding (Y)

I cant wait to get back out on the bike tommorow!

  8. Hi guys!

I just quickly made a small (2 megabyte) video of me hopping about in my bike yard.

Its only a small yard so there is nothing exciting, no drops, gaps or spins!

My mum filmed it on my digital camera for me. I will make a better, longer video soon (my g/f said she will film me somewhere) but what do you think?

I have only been riding trials since I got my Leeson 6 days ago - - previously I rode downhill on a Santa Cruz Bullit until about 3.5 years ago, and I only started riding that again this easter but realised trials was for me (no transport anymore since my dad died , thats why I stopped riding originally)

Oh, and the music is my own, comments on that are welcome to!

Looking forward to any tips/ constuctive criticism on my hopping!

    The video

    Thanks (Y)

  9. magura backings snap from time to time. i have seen a handful of snapped ones. it is not a heatsink specific problem. i have seen both powerpad and magura backings snap. it's just a case of bad luck and a manufacturing fault. nothing to worry about.

    Thanks :)

  10. I was practising these as well yesterday and today (only started learning them on thursday).

On thursday I could manage about 2, yesterday I did well and lost count (travelled forward about 20 feet doing little pedal kick hops) and today could only manage 7 or so! It can be a bit disheartening when you cant repeat something you know you can do! I found it helps my balance trying to do them up and down the curb (I can manage getting up a curb and keeping on hopping but not easily down (front wheel drops too much))

    Good luck practising,

    ~Gaz

  11. Hi guys! I have been busy riding on my new bike today (only had it since monday), but I notice that when I pull on the handlebars or occasionally just stopping or starting something makes a "crack" sound. Not very loud but definately there!

Its coming from somewhere near the front of the bike I think - what are the main suspect areas to check?

I guess headset, and making sure all the bolts are done up okay - any other suggestions?

All the parts are new by the way and the headset is an FSA Pig Dh pro...

    Thanks :)

  12. I have the heatsink honig pads on a smooth rear rim - only had them on the bike for 3 days, but here is what I think so far:

day one: not too bad but not great- as is to be expected for brand new pads

day two: awesome, really "grippy", confidence inspiring!

but.. day 3: they dont seem to lock as much today for some reason and have slipped a couple of times.

Im not sure how to explain the change in power - I havent touched the rims or got them wet etc.... any ideas?

But for £3 a pad they are (were) a bargain!

  14. Hi,

As Im new to trials (Well 6 year absence and I wasnt very good last time anyway!) I was wondering this as well. The things people have said make sense, practise, practise and depth perception / coordination.

I cant wait to start practising!
