  1. To be fair trials itself already acts as a time capsule in a way….most of the current products available are from the past and are out-dated. Things that are now considered "trials-specific" is just a synonym for a rebranded part from another area of cycling.

But back on topic…. those hydraulic trekking brakes have to be up there, springless 105 rear mechs, 18t chainrings, Pro2 trials and multiple pad choices for HS33's, oh and wide rims….

  2. We went last year for a month. After a week she was having panic attacks caused by her family. She never has them here.

I've never shouted or been angry at her since I've known her. She has done both, lots and it's too much.

The whole UK/Aus thing was going to come to a head soon anyway. Her visa is up in May and despite saying that she wanted to renew it. Recently she's been more angry and depressed that usual. A couple of weeks ago she said that she wanted to fly home for a month in November. She decided not to but she got very excited about it and made me realise more than even that she wasn't really that happy here being so far away from home.

The whole family thing...I only have my dad and my sister. She has always thought that they didn't like her. I don't think that is the case. My dad also has issues, especially around woman due to my mother so doesn't always say nice things when he is stressed.

The first sentence is a bit worrying,…why does her family cause her to panic?

It's not good if she's constantly having a go at you, it is probably her just taking her worries out at the person she's closest to, but that doesn't make it right.

I see, I didn't imagine they'd done anything specifically to her, if she feels that they don't like her there's not much you can do to change that opinion. You did tell her that's just Scottish people right? :)

It sounds like there's more issues than just the continental divide to be honest, I take it in no way you're inclined to give Aus a go?

  3. First time caller...

She's upstairs packing her bags and heading home to Australia.

For whatever stupid f**king reasons that I can't even think of I don't want to live in Australia. She wants to live there with her family and friends.

She's not happy in Scotland, weather is shite, it's dark, she doesn't have many friends here and my family hasn't been good to her.

I want her to be happy, I have no idea what do to.

Are you not tempted to go and try it? I know you're not overly keen on your job so could a change of scenery help things?

Life is meant to be good in Australia by all accounts so is it not worth a shot? If you don't want to go and she doesn't want to stay then you might have had your hand forced, it depends on how solid your relationship is I suppose?

How have your family not been good to her? It's certainly not an easy situation and not a small distance by any means so it's only going to work with a huge compromise from one of the parties...

  4. This is the bit that that puts me off kids the most. While I'm still young and fit and very active with riding and climbing I do not want the commitment of kids 'holding me back'. I can't hide, nor do I deny the fact that I am quite a selfish person, and I worry that I'd end up resenting my kid(s) if I had them too early and felt they were getting in the way of what I'd rather be doing.

That's more than fair enough, I feel exactly the same as yourself.

I do think people are having kids later and attitudes to parenthood is shifting, however women's body clocks don't seem to have caught up….lazy!

  5. That's the complete opposite of my and my Mrs. I can't really stand kids, and am not really sure if I ever want them, but she definitely does. IF I do ever have kids, it won't be until I'm well into my 30's, but Adele (as with a lot of girls) has worries of some mystical "expiry date" and doesn't want to leave it that long to have kids...

It's not just about the menopause (which for reference doesn't start as late as you seem to think), it's about the increased risk of disability in the child. It's also a lot harder to conceive later on in to a woman's 30's. Often 35-36 is considered the very latest of the "safe years" so to speak (obviously not being a guarantee) so there's nothing mythical about it, I'm sure she has a greater understanding of a woman's anatomy than you do.

There's also the consideration of being an old parent. If you have a kid well in to your thirties, you're going to be clocking on just as they're about to leave home…(if they leave at a decent age).

Whilst I agree it's not worth getting paranoid about in your early twenties, it is a consideration and not something worth writing off as simply (and as ignorantly) as you have done. You know that a woman only has a finite amount of eggs that she can produce, so there very much is an expiry date, the worry is, there's no telling when that is.

  6. I don't remember having a headache longer that 30minutes.

    Enough already.

Really? That's incredible. I've had them last 2 days or more, and when I was younger regular ones where I became photo-sensitive.

The only thing I've ever found that really works, is lots of water and to sleep it off/shut your eyes.

  7. I have never met a single woman who wouldn't rather be met with a choice and suggestion than "where do you want to eat tonight?"

Because a strong minded, non-retarded woman as you like to put it will tell you what she wants to do.

I don't know about you guys, but MY JOB entirely revolves around asking people closed, open or biased questions. It is FACT that humans prefer to choose from option than free prompted choice.

You've just contradicted yourself (and sort of proved my point), so I'm done.

  8. No, I almost certainly would kick your ass if you actually spoke to me like that.

But you don't know what you're angry at. So you being confused causes you to want to beat people up?

If I was in earshot and you spoke about women in the way you did, I'd have been pretty f**ked off as well, it would annoy me lots. I'd probably question you on it before reaching for a glass though…..

    "Almost certainly" wonderful paradox.

  9. So my girlfriends an idiot/retard?

Sorry that's all I got from your post because I read the first couple of lines and decided you can go f**k yourself you f**king fanny.

If you said that to me down the pub, I'd have glassed your face.

    Of course you would…..

I never said your girlfriend was a retard. If you engaged your brain, rather than intentionally trying to be provocative you'd have quite clearly understood that. However, if your misogynistic approach that you preach is how you treat your girlfriend (which is clearly all bravado) then she probably is a bit stupid to put up with it. As you don't like to read/comprehend whats being said, i'll add, although obvious, that I'm saying she most likely isn't, as I don't for one minute think you'd treat her or speak to her in the manner you profess to.

You can't really get annoyed with my opinion if you haven't either understood it, or struggled through to the end of it.

  10. Yeah, why would I care about rug munchers?

The thread is about "the woman in your life".

Conveniently cherry-picking one example doesn't make you look any less an idiot.

Your analogy is shit. For instance, my girlfriend, not being an idiot, doesn't like being told what to do (amazing I know) and genuinely likes to give an opinion. This is because I choose not to go out with a retard who isn't capable of formulating their own thoughts. That doesn't mean every now and again she'll say "I don't mind", and that does piss me off, but I'd never make the monumental leap to suggest that she (and every other heterosexual woman in a relationship - as I now think the stakes are) enjoys being told what to do!

Yours certainly doesn't seem to be listening to your travel suggestions...

  11. This is your fault.

Every woman wants a man that makes decision for them. Every single one.

"We're going to Pizza Express for dinner."

    "Ok."

    -

"Where do you want to go for dinner?"

"...[thinking]So many f**king options, why is this my f**king decision?[/thinking].... Up to you?"

Pretty stupid to debase all women to one way of thinking. Your synopsis picks apart particularly quickly when it comes to either single women, children or lesbians.

  12. Ok you got me on the 1st one :)

second one i dont eat pre packed ''food'' if you can call it that .Its unhealthy and not even food .

I doubt she was ever a ''dirty f**king skank of a blt muncher -Shes a vegan so am i (But she is kinda dirty ;) )...But your post made me chuckle Thank you

We're still no closer to understanding what, if anything your girlfriend eats during (presumably) a working lunch, that isn't:

    A. A sandwich

    B. Pre-packed

    C. Brought with her from home.

We now know it must be freshly prepared on the premises and bought only moments before, not contained within packaging, yet all the pieces of the puzzle are not in place.

  13. not sure if this is the place to go for help but hey...

    I no photoshopper...

Ok so I have this image, a matisse cutout, and the highest res version I can find is this one

    attachicon.gifIMG_1573-1.JPG

its simple shapes and block colours (or could be made to be). Id like to blow it up so that it could be printed huuuuge (over 2m wide), without it looking like a big pixelated pile of poop. How do I go about it ?

I also want to remove any colour from the background - so either transparent or just white, and maybe take the individual items and make them filled with block colour (possibly limit the number of colours used)

    Any help much appreciated.

EDIT the uploader seems to have scaled the image a bit so I have 1918x866

You'll want to redraw it in Illustrator, doesn't matter which size - just copy the original for best clarity and then scale it to your desired size. As it'll be a vector image you don't have to worry about image degredation when scaling.

There is an auto-trace feature in Illustrator that'll make a 'best-guess' of the image, but at that size I wouldn't hope for much.

Once the item has been made a vector image you'll have complete control over colour choice of each individual item. You can group specific shapes to colour them in one go, rather than doing it on an individual basis.

It's not a big job, but bare in mind how Matisse actually created those shapes……might be a simpler and quicker approach.

  14. What i was trying to convey was shes posh and does not make sandwiches let alone take them to work :)

Must the the cell-ery in them -Ha ha I made a funny

The sandwich was created by a f**king Earl…… doesn't get much posher than that!

Honestly, what a pretentious and stupid thing to say, like somehow allowing an ex-convict to prepare your pre-packed meals in an industrial estate days before you eat them is somehow misconstrued as some form of 'refinement'.

"Let alone" you say…..somehow aghast at the very concept that one would take sustenance to them to their place of work, or gosh, let alone work in the first place. The very idea of it….

So she wasn't posh in her 20's, then she was a dirty-f**king-skank of a BLT muncher, but heavens no, not in the summer of her life. I imagine lunchtime is a veritable mix of broiled quails eggs and confit albatross.

  15. got invited to a second interview last friday, the second interview was today. they cancelled on me, in their lobby. f**king c**ts.

That's pretty low. I'd have been asking for an explanation and expenses paid. To be honest, if the company is run like that you're probably better off without them.

  16. Speaking of pins, I don't know if something's changed with the Neutron pedals more recently but my old set didn't lose any pins at all, yet my latest set seem to shit them out pretty regularly. Flipp lost a load from his pedals pretty quickly too, although his pedals do look kind of haggard :P All it's meant is I have a 'good' side and a 'bad' side to my pedals so it's no biggie, but just seemed a bit unusual. Might be worth putting a dab of threadlock on your pins whichever pedals you get if you want to try and keep them in...

I found the same actually. I'm 99% sure nothings changed but i'll check.

It's looking like the factory has stopped thread locking the pins in manufacture as the pedal body (up until now) and pins haven't been changed. I've asked them to make a note of it….but probably worth thread locking them as standard.

  17. "I text Jardo's mum" is surely a present tense. What version should be used for past tense?

Texes or textes is clearly wrong, but I'm sure texted is valid...

I feel as though 'text' can work in past tense…?

"My balls ached and my stomach churned after I had text Jardo's mum".

  18. I ride a variety of Nukeproof pedals (those standard pedals) from the plastic Electrons on my commuter, to the Ti ones on my MTB and the Inspired branded version on my trials bike. I do prefer the feeling of the metal pedals over the plastic ones but there's a new version just around the corner which are a bit larger, and come in at just under 350g's. If you want a slightly larger profile also look at the Proton pedals which have a wider platform.

I sort of begrudge spending a lot on pedals these days. They all wear out, they all get bashed about and loose pins and get damage to the threads so just get something affordable you're not too precious about.

  19. As this thread is alive again I thought I'd add some pics of the current collection which are out of their cases. Excuse the low-light.
