  1. i want an enduro machine. i was so impressed with the specialized enduro, but i'd want to try a few machines at that price point before comiting obviously. i guess 130-150, i'm not aversed to 9ers at all.

I'm biased but I would say try the Lapierre Spicy, I have a Team version and it's incredible.

The Santa Cruz Bronson is the poster boy of the current Enduro crop, I've not tried one but it looks a little short to me. The Enduros themselves do look great and are very popular. At the cheaper end you've got the Nukeproof Mega AM which is a blast. The Norco range is a popular as are some of the current Rocky Mountain carbon bikes.Yeti Sb66…YT industries Capra (hell of a lot of bike for the money - if you can get one). The Intense carbines and Tracers look incredible. I don't like them but a lot of people like the Canyons, but I suppose the benefits with you working in a bike shop won't be so relevant.

  2. Well in that case I certainly wouldn't chose a bike based on it's drivetrain….what appeals to you bike wise at the moment? What sort of stuff will you be riding? How much travel are you thinking about? Do you want an angry enduro bike or a light XC ripper?

  3. sorry baby.

angry because i can't get higher than a 2:2, unless i acheived over 70% in three exams, i'm just not at that level of capability, on the flip side, i only need to pass each exam to maintain my 2:2

I wouldn't worry after all the marks are often awarded by jaded lecturers and examiners who haven't been active in their field (if at all) for some time…..

  4. It'll be broken into for sure.

The Clan trailer had the padlock burst all the time when it was parked in Edinburgh. Neds see bikes on the side and think thats whats inside. Nope scaffold poles and ply wood. Nae luck!

    So far, a Passat estate.

In Edinburgh? Surely not! Round your day maybe….. ;)

Were the Clan always parking in Leith?

  5. Won't be in a rush to sell, no internet at home at the moment anyway. The Five needs a little bit of attention before selling, plus removing some more premium parts!

Sounds like a sore one! Where did it happen, and how long are you out for?

Happened on one of the secret trails at Glentress, a really rooty, natural one. It'd been raining a lot so it was a case of slippin' and slidin' your way down, but I was doing multiple runs on it getting a feel for it.

They haven't told me….I'm awaiting a call from the fracture clinic as I left the hospital with them telling me it was fine (later to be rung and told in fact it wasn't) so I'm going to stay off the mountain bike this weekend but i'll start riding again next weekend. Only way to improve it is to use it, and as they haven't told me any better…….

  6. Yeah, I might just do it. A go on yours would be handy when/if I come to buy a new bike. Might scout out a demo day to confirm wheel sizes/frame.

More money in parting it out or selling whole? I fear the idiots on the Pinkbike Buy/Sell

Also, what did you do to your shoulder?

Yeah do both those things, a good few demos as well add there's so may good bikes out at the moment. Next year is going to be better with a lot more bikes having 1x11 on them.

If I were you I'd just try and get it sold in one. Might be a push with everyone getting excited about 27.5". I had to just sell my frame and forks in the end and move all the parts over. I didn't get too many idiots on Pinkbike, no worse than here really.

I broke my shoulder on Sunday crashing the Spicy. Just went a bit hot in to a section pedalling in to a corner and hit a stump hidden behind some grass and it sent me flying.

  7. Thinking about selling my Orange Five...haven't used it in anger for +6 months now.

Maybe in a year get another full susser in a new wheel size, maybe 27.5?

I'd still have my Cotic Soul and that would pretty much do me for the trails I ride plus it is sooo light around 10kgs compared to the heavy Five.

Do it! Have a year ragging your Cotic and then get something a bit more up to date. When I'm riding again we'll have to go out for a blast. You can have a shot of my Spicy and see what you think to the whole big wheel, enduro-hype thing.

  8. Uni-trials is the same as Elite comp trials but instead of having a set of handlebars upside down you hold onto the seat!

Have you seen someone do it though? I mean really had a look…..

What is it? I know it's not particularly mature but I have such a deep seated embarrassment whenever I see it.

  9. Nope they said my qualifications didn't transfer and restricted me to a non working holiday visa unless I can secure a full time job before appealing.

How I am meant to secure a job without a visa escapes me.

Doesn't everyone drive shit cars in Australia as there's no MOT or something? Could be why. Just tell em you make a mean coffee. Australians love a good coffee, heck they think they invented it.

  10. Haha mate you took it completely out of context there. I wasn't doing the tgs vs spinny debate what so ever.

I meant he's more known by the public for being a stunt rider not a trials rider but congratulations on writing so much haha

I'm not the one for these debates anyway, I'd say the majority of the people I ride with have seats. I'm even wearing my 24tour tshirt as I type this.. Haha

Not really out of context then…as you are making a statement which boils down to the debate of "what sort of bicycling does bicycle rider Danny MacAskill do?"

Thanks for the congrats….those 3 lines took it out of me, probably as much as your three lines did, however I don't go in for the "everyone's a winner" so forgive me for not congratulating you. haha.

Never accused you of being a TGSist so please don't feel the need to defend yourself. I honestly couldn't care, nor mind whatever sort of riding people do, it's all being silly on bikes*.

*apart from Uni-trials. What the f**k is that? haha

  11. He is a stunt rider though?

He's not a trials rider? (genuine post from me)

I know you tend to post matters of those of a 12 year old girl, but quite seriously….you're asking that question. I think you're actually making a statement despite the question mark, but either way has spending your nights in conflict over what text based medium is preferable to type "haha" at the end of every sentence has made you loose sight and any grip of normality. I find both the question and the statement beyond ignorant, however in your case I don't think you're doing it just to get a rise out of people. Watch any single one of his videos….quite simply, that is trials. Question answered.

I haven't made that comment purely because I'm clearly infatuated with Danny, it's just a repeated statement that is so banal and without any justification that it tires to see it time and time again.

  12. I have a bike... but it's a Pashley Princess. Also managed to get myself a job but am now on Maternity Leave... erm... mortgaged... I feel old :(

Weren't you born almost midway through the 90's? Not sure in what world that would constitute old?

  13. As much as I'm excited about seeing the video, I'm not too sure on the location. I bet it was awesome to ride'n all that but it was a disaster zone. Homes were lost, families were separated and people died. I've looked inside graveyards and thought, oh I could gap that tomb stone to that..whatever but I didn't do it, because its disrespectful. Ground Zero would probably have been cool to ride too eh?

That thought did spring to mind at first but from the commentary it doesn't sound like any lives were lost, people just moved away and it got forgotten.

I'm glad to see another Dave Sowerby edit with Danny, they're far more exciting in my opinion.

    P.S. Turquoise bike?

  14. That's the thing, I'd basically said I'd take it then he's emailed and said and I quote "have had some other interest and will let you know if they progress"

Someone probably paid before you….anyway it's not like near enough £100 is amazing for some old Rebas (they might have been too short as well). What bike is this for anyway?

  15. Knobhead. No need for that is there

If someones got money and willing to pay then and there, they get the goods….. if you waited around for all the people that said "ah yeah i'll pay you in a couple of days" you'd never sell anything.

Shopkeepers don't refuse sales because someone was browsing earlier that day and looked like they might make a purchase.

  16. Jésus man, you don't be adding girls on Snapchat straight off.

Snapchat is used for one thing, flirting (and sending nudes to a conqured FB).

Talk to her, don't be all stalky stalky rapey rapey with her on snapchat.

You have most certainly blown it by chasing her and seeming needy.

Women take time, unless they are skanks. I chased Bethan for years and was always in the friends with benefits zone, I tried so hard to bust out of it and it didn't work. So I settled for second best.

Ignored her for a year, and the next time I saw her she was all over me. Ignored her for a further 4 years and the next thing you know she is chasing me down.

You have got to show a girl that you are awesome and make her want to be a part of your fantastic life. If she is into you then she will come get you, chasing her will just make her think you are a sap and make her ego trip.

That's it guys, the real advice right there.

5 years + of ignoring them, then you're in there!

  17. I am tired of holy roller punctures. There was no compromise on tire pressure. If you don't want punctures you need a rock hard pressure. I like to still ride trialsy where possible. In fact i've had to cut an ol' 26 DH tube up and use it as a liner / second ply of my tire at the moment just to reduce the number of punctures i get at the moment.

From riding the guys bikes in glasgow, the conti's do seem to be a great tire for how i want to ride. I certainly havent heard any real complaints from them.

That said, if i could ride like the guys in the BSD vids then i'd run my tires rock hard and holy rollers would be fine. I <3 BSD

Nah, I was just being a dick as you spelt it 'tire'. In that new BSD donna squeak edit they got called out for not using the word 'tyre'.

I've no doubt the Conti's will be great….I use the Holy Rollers at 45 PSI + so have no issues, but like you say using them for trialsy stuff is a real compromise. They'll look pretty damned sweet on your Arcade.

PS, do you use DH tubes currently in your Holly Rollers?

  18. at the time I agreed. Holy Roller was the best tire for streety 24's, however the problem with them is that they are the best of a bad bunch. It was the only tire that really fitted your requirements.

I am pretty sure people would have said this tire, had it been out but it wasn't, and nor was there any clarity on its impending release.

anyway...i've bought a pair of the contis. just hope i can get danny to sign them. you want my holy rollers?

You've been watching too many BSD vids pal.

You've tired of tyres it seems :)

  19. 20 seconds in……oh so you're rhyming the end of every line, like a "really good" poem. Turn off.

(Ironically from my 20 second viewing I imagine this is what they're alluding to).
