  1. Me too, haha, we're such puffs.

I hate the dentist.... well more the injections in my mouth, i wont have them, i prefer to have dental work done with no anaestetic (sp?) The last time i went i had a filling on either side of my mouth and he did the grinding and all that jazz without giving me the injections cos i said no. It hurt, but i just prefer it to having a needle in my mouth.

im petrified of spiders and injections!!!

but worse than that i once found a flipin HUGE house spider hiding behind the CNC plates (around the seat tube) of my ZOO pitbull - and now everytime im alittle nervious going for a big drop or somwthing my eyes flick down to the place it was hidding, It realy puts me off godamnit!!!

  2. the most painfull was on my old kona shred - hit a double set of stairs 8+8 - jumped the first bit to land on the tranny of the second set - i got one of those not-quite-right takeoff moments and tensed up in the air,

the run-up was on kind of an angle so i was trying to half hip it (no more than 20 degrees) meaning i landed way over tha back and at an angle, i bailed of the back of the bike and took almost the whole landing on one foot with my leg locked strait

i went down the last 5 or so steps like a sack of sh!t roled got strait up on my feet, realised i had killed my foot (because it hurt like hell) stumbled went strait back down and smacked my sweed on concrete

everybody was to buisy p!ssing themselved to help me (Y)

my foot ended up blue / black for about a month but it was only bruised, my head was fine (thanks to my trusty tsg)

  3. am i the only person running Tiogas?

ah well - i use a White Tiger on the back because the large central "bridge" nobbles give excellent grip and stability on rocks and concrete, combined with the substantial side nobbles (when the tyre is deformed under pressure) they provide a huge surface area. the tyre has a round profile like all tiogas and has a massive air volume so you can run low air pressures without any trouble. they arnt to heavy and last a long time - my one has loads of life left after 8 months solid use.

on the front i run a blue dragon - because i like Japanese movies and kung-fu films (white tiger / blue dragon) and they are really light and plenty grippy

plus Maxxis tyres suck - they are only good in the really soft compounds. a tyre made of cheese will last longer

slate me if you will but i just cant stand maxxis tyres - but this is personal preference, best way to learn what is best for you is to find out for your self

  4. ok here we go

    spbpic668480.jpg

its in very good condition and has had little use

i want to put it on ebay and want to put a fair reserve on it but thats the problem ive no idea what its worth!

    someone must no please help

rule of thumb with mountain bikes of all sorts

add up all the components costs, (eg £1000) halve it (eg. £500) and minus £10 for every month it its old (eg minis 6months = minus £60) which would be £440.

nb: reserves on eBay suck, to sell put it as a "fixed price" auction with a "buy it now" of whatever you want for the bike. then set a starting bid of £50-£100-£150 cheaper to generate interest, then hopefully people will bid and somebody will use the buy it now to beat the bids etc......

but its really up to you -

also where are you from im sure iv seen that bike around Barry (wales)

  5. the important thing to remember with disk brakes is you dont get that much power difference to the number of pots the disk has

the mono trials brake has a larger piston than the standard mono mini and is designed to lock the brake

the mono mini and mono m4 ARE NOT designed to lock the brake, they were designed for use on free ride XC and DH bikes,

consider going down-hill with a front brake which locks if you breath on it - not a good plan

obviously any brake will lock if you squeeze it enough so - there you have the most common misconception with disks, more pots dont = more power.

more pots = better modulation, heat dispersal and a slight increase in power

the mono trials brake is twice as light as the m4, has a bigger dedicated piston - designed with Koxx for trials use, it will stop you better than an M4 in trials applications such as endos and the like

    trust :P

  6. anybody no how many engagement points the hope mono has?

a hope mono is basicaly an xc without a disk mount - so 21, a good choice fore trials the ti ones are realy light

if you are on a budget then -----

personaly - i would go for a ACS claw free wheel on a bmx style hub, 32 engagement points and the free wheel cost about £5 !

or you can upgrade to an ENO white industries free-whee for £59 (on ebay) and get 72 engagement points.

you can put the freewheel on the cranks and get a fixed hub (echo or onza are a good choice).

if your freewheel brakes then who cares they cost a 5er get a new one plus they dont skip (acs anyway)

  7. i have tried 661 race lights, 661 4x4 (my old free ride gear) hard knocks some other light 661 pads i forget the name of, and they are all rubbish in the face of the 661 veggie shin -

these pads are so comfortable i sometimes forget to take them of then wonder why i am still wearing them in the pub or when i go to bed,

i even once got frisky with my girlfriend without remembering i had them on - and felt like a tit standing there naked apart from shin-pads

plus they are slim fit so will go unnoticeably under any trousers and offer loads of protection.

  8. XC is definitely 21 engagement points, i have one on my zoo - it never skips.

the bonus of a hope is when it dies hope will sort it out so it more of an investment for the future!

bulbs are better i have one on my pashley 24mhz, 36 engagement points of sweetness.

another good point about the hope are the seals are made for the UK market so last well in our crappy conditions plus the cartridge bearings are cheep to replace if they go.

king is better but the new echo has the same amount of engagement points neither has a fantastic (UK based) warranty like the hope so who can tell which is better in the long run. we will have to see what the echo is doing after 6 months of abuse :(

  9. to get my pads flat to the rim so that they wear evenley, i use a small piece of sheet metal, 2mm thick i place this next to the rim and the pad, and then push the pad up to the metal then tightne the clamps, thus a perfectly set up brake each time

    ash

i use coins - 2p for a small gap £1 for a larger gap - saves you having to find a 2mm bit of metal

  10. iv ridden the 2005 - and i have a 2005 pitbull

its a sweet rig but im scared of the new high BB, although it should be a good thing i have disproportionatly long legs - and pretty soon my arse is gona be higher than my head if they push the bb height up any more.

aside from that - go for it they are pimping :D

  11. as said my hands are cold!

when i first started i used to ride with gloves all the time, but as with many forms of protection you loose all the feeling (Y)

i suffered through last winter without gloves but numb fingers is as bad as wearing mittens for trials so im looking for some middle ground

what gloves do you use? a friend as recommended 661 Rajies, but i'm not convinced

    any help would be cool
