i shant join, ... girly moan
seconded, I shall be riding Cambridge instead. We need to find some new places to make Norwich rides less samey and boring.

It will have been NSE you were talking to regarding the Megamo frames.
Same number as koxx uk, trialsman etc....
yep, that's the one
It may be worth a ring to see if he still has any, maybe a hub could be adapted to fit???
-
a little while back somebody said something about a bikeshop that advertises on here (select or cleanbikes spring to mind) had a some steel megamos still left, infact chris akrigg was riding one not too long ago! so if you can sort shipping...
I phoned that shop (not the foggiest which one it was, sorry) a couple of months ago but the guy said the only ones left in stock had strange spacing for tandem rear hubs - I know it sounds mad but it's what the guy told me, I guess its some bizarre idea Megamo had that never took off.
Unfortunately custom made seems the only way to go to get a short 26" with a seat, especially if you're after steel but i'd say stay 24" if you can, when I made the change I couldn't believe how much better it felt. Having said that there is a Boa frame on ebay which is sitting at £30 at the minute with bb, maybe get that if you need a bike now and then save for some Leeson loveliness or the new Ashton 24".

I should be good for this, my course finishes for crimbo on the friday so i'll have no work to do for the first time in ages. Roll on the free time

Though the theory is sound, assuming your car is set up correctly for high boost, turning down the boost will simply result in massive overfuelling for the low boost situation and not change your mpg that much.
I may be wrong as all tuned engines are made to work differently and i'm not so hot on turbo set-ups but from what i've read/heard from mates about turbo'd cars the fuelling should be set up for specific boost, reduce the boost and the performance all goes pear shaped and unless you remap your ecu the fuelling will stay at the high boost level which could lead to other problems. Don't quote me on this, but I think i'm in the right ball park.

Gonna push the time back a little since the weather's supposed to be good this afternoon. Meeting around 1 to half past now instead. Sorry if this messes you long distance poeple around a bit
-
I'm gonna try and make it but (probably) won't ride full on as my ankles only been better a couple of days.
Joe it'd be nice to see you there if you can make it but given the choice I think i'd ride Bristol, maybe that's because i'm bored of Norwich though and want a change of scene???
-
got u bk djb for the arse shot of me
all's fair i s'pose, I think mine's nicer than yours though
I thought when I first looked at it it was when I was manual hopping up it but realised it looked a bit suicidal if that's how I hop, i'm glad you explained it was when I was doing the 360's - had me a bit worried for a minute!!!
My rear wheel does look badly bent, i assure you it's not that bad so there must be some camera trickery going on there.
Dave, do you have any more pics from that ride worth seeing?
-
I've only you got the entire 'im lovin' it' in the background it could have been ten times better......
Never even noticed it from that point of view - i'm gutted I hadn't spotted that now, though I was trying to be as subtle as possible so I wasn't really looking where the camera was pointing.
-
Just a quick pic I had to take while riding in Norwich, afterall the infamous Wally isn't usually this easy to find.
I'm not quite sure why he's stoned - maybe that's why he wasn't hiding
-
why didnt you get pics when i was there ha ha, nice pics though, i still have adrians scaffold pole sitting in my shed, gu frames are probably the worst handling frames ever built hows the ankle?
because you're crap, No, I was too busy talking or falling off and laying around in pain!!! The ankles better now but is still a nice array of colours and a bit stiff, I should be able to ride on it soon . I had it checked out in A'n'E and the nurse seemed to think I may have fractured it before though I didn't think I had - probably why it's a bit weak!!!
the first pic was not easy cuse adrien would always take his time to make that gap and weres the wolly pic djb i really want to see that
poor excuse, you should be able to take your time too, it wasn't speed trials you know .
Oh, and the wally pic is online, I just haven't got round to posting it yet - maybe later today.
-
He we go, just a few since it appears i'm crap at taking photos of moving objects!!!
Adrian and a bit of Dave, supposed to be doing some synchronised gapping - they couldn't
Dave gapping
Adrian doing the same gap
Adrian with a decent size gap:
And finally, the obligatory arse shot. Dave on Alex's bike:
Enjoy, comments and advice welcome?

I would come but my ankle is still very much fudged from last week, it's a very nice combo of greens and blues and a bit puffy to say the least!!! Give it a couple more weeks and hopefully i'll come out again.

The Ashton no longer exists although rumours of a replacement were, if I remember rightly, confirmed by Ashton himself recently but that won't be about 'till next year. Other than that, like you said Heatsink, Leeson and Curtis are the typical choices. There is also Iolo on here who will make you one custom and Todge/Fresh Products will too, both costing less than a Leeson/Curtis. For something different to these you could try the Onza Zoot though I don't think that is available as frame only. Your best bet for frame only is to wait for something second hand, it's the only way you'll get one 'cheap'.
Hope that helps, I don't think there are any other contenders at the moment but I may be wrong.

thanks guys ill be seeing you on sunday
cool, it's always good to see some new faces in the local area.
-
I went and saw them last saturday in manchester and was blown away by how good they were. Matt Bellamy is truly amazing - so much soul and energy and my god does he know how to express it. The Noisettes weren't that bad either to be honest, though their sound set-up was pretty poor imo and that never helps.
Is there much of the new stuff in contrast to the old or is it a fairly even mix between album hits?
The set was a pretty good mix, played about 80 minutes, most of the new album and a good mix from all the previous ones but not Citizen Erased and no Microcuts which i'd have liked to have seen as well. I so wish I was seeing them again this weekend, you will not be dissappointed.
-
I'm pretty local and have recently been trying to ride there more, especially now the trials scene is getting back to what it once was.
There's a few of us riding this Sunday, I know you said after Christmas but your welcome to come out if you can. If you can't i'm sure with my mates back from uni over the Christmas period there'll be a ride or two going on early next year.
-
I take it Adrian and Dave will be riding...?
I guess adrian's answered part of that for you, and yes dave also said he'd be there. The more riders the merrier so persuade your parents they need to see your sister, make up something random if necessary .
-
There's a Norwich ride going ahead this Sunday but I can't make it so i'm going to go in with a couple of guys on the 19th instead. Meet around midday at the train station, all are welcome
-
well me a anime are always up norwich on sundays so we will ride nxt sunday as well if u want
That should be good, i'll post up in rides/locations - that may attract some more folk
-
Damn all you guys organising rides when i'm busy, first Cambridge now Norwich .
Any chance you wanna make it next weekend instead, i'm off to see Muse in Manchester tomorrow and have masses of coursework to do for next week so won't be able to make it.
-
Oops, least you're in one peice anyway.
It doesn't look like you've done anything irrepairable imo but it's hard to tell and i'm no expert. Personally i'd avoid going through the insurers, it's not just the x years ncb you'll lose but you'll have a crash against your name and that will punish you for the next couple of years. If you've got a £500 excess you probably won't have to spend much more than that to sort it via a scrappy and you'll save in the long run. Just my 2p, hope you can sort it.
Car Insurance For Civics
in Chit Chat
Posted · Edited by djb
I insured my VTi with Adrian Flux for £950 tpft when I was 19 with 1 years ncb and that's a group 16 car so should be less for a coupe. Other descent insurers are Sky, Herts Insurance Consultants and Elephant/Admiral (pretty much the same only Elephant is online only). It may also be worth joining Honda Revolutions club which will get you discount with Sky and HIC for £25 a year membership (inlcuding a wealth of free information from Honda enthusiasts on their forum, quarterly glossy magazines and organised meets etc if you're into that kind of thing).
Unfortantely no company will let you off lightly for wanting a Honda at a young age, because Honda parts prices are steep insurers will always charge more than for an equivalent performance Ford, Vauxhall or other generic piece of crap. It's something you have to live with but is countered by many plus points in my opinion.
Links to the mentioned companies are below, hope that helps and enjoy the motor - 'tis a good choice.
