  1. If I had the money to get the Onza carbon fibre bars I would - they're light and because they're carbon fibre the theory is that they should'nt fail due to fatigue stress, providing the bars don't get any deep scratches on them or anything (thats the theory anyway...).
  2. I suppose they have to be of us hugging celebrity trials riders?
  3. That's just an example. On another thread on here someone else made the same point. I think it was Paul Olliver in that thread who was saying how you should like widen your range of riding ability, and that when he does dirt jumping and then gets onto his trials bike, he rides much better. (I think the thread was to do with a chap who wanted to buy a real cheap mod bike to practice on, so he wouldnt damage his T-pro)
  4. Hey, I'm not too sure on getting two different trials bikes; you're probably better of using your money to buy a jump bike for example, and just getting good on your mod bike. If you're set on a stock bike I'd definately buy one second hand of ebay or the 'for sale' section on this site, just because you'll get a better spec'd bike for your money. Dan
  5. What makes the base a good bike for street? I've got an old giant team trials frame and apparantly thats meant to be good for street but I don't know why that is.
  6. There are more mistakes in that then there are in the starting post.
  7. What chain tensioner are you using at the moment by the way? I think Onza had something that protected your mech hanger from bending etc. but that kind of defeats the purpose of a mech hanger.
  8. How do you go about making your own brake pads, as in what do you roughly need?
  9. A few people on here use the zoo! pads which are meant to be pretty good, though I think they wear down quite quickly on a grind.
  10. well until you get validated you can sell your bike on a small and unheard website called eBay
  11. Since a lot of people don't know what trials is you'd have to give them a small lecture as to why you don't have a seat - that's what I found anyway. Now I just reply with 'it fell off'
  12. Simpsons all the way. Family guy is good, but only because of that little kid stu. With the Simpsons it's weird how much everyday stuff you can relate to it; I've yet to use Homers line though where he says 'but Marge, I swear I never thought you'd find out'! Classic
  13. Are there any advantages taking out seperate/specific cover for your bikes as opposed to having it covered under house insurance? I've got endsleigh student insurance but I dont think it covers my bike(even if it gets stolen from my room) because it was specific about me insuring my bikes seperately.
  14. Hey Wez, I'm trying to learn how to pedal kick as well. Can you backhop yet?
  15. I think you need to buy cranks that can take a front freewheel as well though, so need to add that in to the price.
  16. Hi mate, welcome to the forum. You say you started trials at christmas, is your bike new or second hand (I've never heard of a T-master before)? What happened to the bike for it to be in the shop so soon after you started trials?
  17. Hey, nice pictures. What bike do you have? is it a Pashley? Dan
  18. What is that line/groove there for in the first place? Is it a result from the manufacturing process of the rim or is it actually intended to be there?
  19. is this your first trials bike? Who do the other two bikes in your photo album belong to? def impressed by your leeson though
  20. I've got the lizard skin shinpads I brought of chainreaction, they have a hard plastic insert that goes into the front of the shinpad which makes sure no stray DMR V8 pins get embedded into your shin ever again!
  21. This summer at halfords they had a carrera bike which had what you're talking about. I doubt that the internal gear system is great for trials though because their main advantage/selling point is that they're low maintenance, but not great at handling high stresses.
  22. I thought that it was mostly mod bikes that had a freewheel setup, but I've seen a few stock bikes that have one as well. Are there any advantages to having a freewheel on a stock bike as opposed to a 'normal' hub?
  23. i was originally going to leave just headset, bb and cranks on the bike, because you need both the bb tool and crank extractor to take off the bb - tools i dont have. the guy in the shop said he'd charge an extra tenner (bringin price now up to £30/35) to move everything from one frame to the other. this didnt sound to bad but it was his offer about including the old frame into the deal that sounded crap, because he made it sound like the frame was worth less then £35. dan
  24. so you can use a block of wood and a hammer to get the cups in, but then how would you go about taking the cups out?
  25. so what do you think then? i havnt got the tools to take of cranks, remove bottom bracket and take out headset, so i need that doing at least.
