  1. I strongly advise avoiding Fox gloves. mine are crap. they also seem to hold on to smell really badly too, and they need washing after a week of riding, oh and the stitching is crap. I would recommend the Brooklyn Machine works English Nik glove And the RockGardn Carbon Fate Glove. Ive seen the Carbon Fate glove in person and wish i had bought it. Its made of such good quality materials, and is thick enough to keep your digits warm in winter. http://www.rockgardn.com/ http://www.brooklynmachineworks.com/clothing_gloves.htm my specialized gloves held up well, but there new line is too thin IMO. hope this helps.
  2. http://www.bustedspoke.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=16328 at least not when they have several feet of travel LMAO!
  3. LOL, i could imagine someone thinking its a cheapo 'trying to look futuristic' bmx. HAHA. :)
  4. find something small to learn on, say a foot tall or so, preferably with out a drop the other side so you dont worry about messing t up. you could consider options with two approaches in mind: 1. that the bike is stationary before you make the move to get up 2. that the bike is in motion Which you choose depends on confidence, skill and obviously which one is more appropriate. Generally speaking, it is easier to be moving to get up sopmething becayse you use the momentum to your advantage, eg rolling towards ledge head on, front wheel up, then throw your weight over the bars and allow the back to come up. Theres many ways to get up however theyll be deifned by either starting stationary or when youre rolling. Rolling may not be easiest though. Try getting the front wheel up, and using little side hops to shift the bike around so your almost horizontal to the ledge, with the front wheel up it, then with the brakes on throw your weight forwards again and let the back come up and sideways a bit.
  5. HAHAHAHA! i was just about to start a new thread about breaking bb's - and the bb i broke was the fsa platinum pro too! I just broke the funker doing a fufanu, completely snapped it in half! Stay away from them.
  6. Thats exceptionally L-A-M-E My grandparents live in alverstoke so ill tell them to keep an eye out. Theyll ram him with their zimmer frame LOL :P :-
  7. buy a frame during the january sale!!!
  8. i think its safe to say that any built up place will have things to ride. i cant wait to get to bristol uni and explore the place. just walking around the place brings back pictures from loads of biking vids. And the university is so close! only problem with assuming a built up place is rideable is how good you are, obviouslythe better you are the more you can ride.
  9. personally i think that bikes at the thousand pound mark are realistic, given that they are probably not being marketed towards beginners/people who dont need such a bike. When you consider the componant upgrades you will make overtime your bike will soon have had a thousand bucks spent. It is true that many riders believe they need better componants than they do - annoyingly under the impression that they will be an amazing rider (when infact they are just posers) and i think manufacturers capitalise on that, with magazines not doing much to define what is overkill. I would love to see sections every 6 months with reviews on bikes for beginner/sport/advanced riders in different riding disciplines, so 3 best value bikes for trials suitable for respective riding level, and the same for dirt jumping/street and dh. I hate it when people see somebodys bike and assumes he's good, because theres plenty of riders who ride ghetto builds and ride damn well.
  10. yeah, there for the first year after which i expect to be thrown out along with all the other first years to find a place of my own.
  11. those are some awesome pics, you must be a hell of a rider. did you ride with a towel that time? :D
  12. ahhh, i could so almost say yes - for the first time, as i am moving in to bristol university on saturday but arriving in thornbury (a litle village close to bristol) at my grans on the friday. They have a skatepark and some council approved dirt jumps so im gonna check it out. but dang itll be good learningmy way around the ciy. Ill be in goldney hall if anyone knows where that is for bristol university.
  13. cool. thanks for your comments.
  14. As i am looking at getting the chris king hub (which has 72 points of engagement) i was just wondering how much of an effect it will have on the way the bike reacts... Currently i have a terrible cannondale fire disc hub which has under 20 engagement points, and the guy that is helping me get the new hub from USA swears by them and says it is amazing to ride and makes a huge difference... BUT what difference does it actually make though, specifically - will it make my gaps bigger/easier etc or does it simply make more possible? cheers
  15. chase 3 30 lbs (pounds) which is equal to 13.3 kilos. lighter than i was expecting actually.
