  1. I would go for it, Robbie is running some reds on cnc backings with a light grind, no issues at all with them. They seem to be lasting ok as well. JP
  2. Robbies bike is a B2B but I thought it would be a fair bit lighter with all the bash and mounts removed so I guess it is now a b2. It rides very well and is light. John
  3. Just a quick note before I bugger off on holiday and then to OZ. If you are worried about being the laughing stock then fear not as that is my job, I provide the laughs at no extra cost. You will not be laughed at unless you choose to be laughed at. Come and try it, you WILL enjoy it and feel a sense of real achievement. John
  4. That is great to hear, that means me and hurman have at least 30 years left in us. He might be able to get a win in in that time Nice one Steve. John
  5. Here are 2 old classic Megamos 1 being riden by me reularly away 1 packed away by Andy Ford. I am led to belive that this is Ben Savages first 26" bike Hope you like em. John.
  6. Great stuff. We are moving out to OZ very soon. I am glad to see some Natty to go at and enough people to ride with. See you soon lads. JP
  7. Priase the LARD amen and goodnight JP
  8. Distance can be a problem but it can't be changed. I have done all the rest of your wishes today and had a real laugh, laughed, fallen in the mud, been laughed at (many times) The result in my class is very important to me and the only other guy in that class and we finished just 2 points away from each other, I am not good at all but there is always some one to pit your witts against and that is what makes the challenge. JP
  9. I could start a full on rant on this one, but I won't. Trials, be it push bikes or motor bikes is a 1 man sport, not a team sport like football an so on. People do it for there own reasons, I do it because Robbie does it and it keeps me fit, and to be fair at my age I look around and see lads I used to go to school with piling on the weight and looking sh@@e, so for 1 it stops that lazyitus setting in, for 2 I have met some great friends through the sport and 3 it's a bloody good crack It takes up a lot of time and hard work for organizers to put a comp on and it really gets my back up when people come on here who don't even necessarily ride comps and start giving the people who dedicate so much time to the sport a hard time. i tend to agree with Tim, there did used to be more riders at comps, I wish I knew why they had gone, one thing for sure is that we do not have enough younger riders in the country at the moment. As a lot of you get older you find cars and stuff and loose interest in the sport and we need to back fill the sport, this takes us onto BIU, UCI and street. No way can a six year old ride a bike over demanding obstacles without resting a pedal, crank or sump hence the BIU rules, I agree that UCI demands a more aggressive approach and looks better, you can't really expect or want to see a six year old tearing up the local town. I read an earlier post from some one saying they wish someone would email them a calendar of comp dates at the start of the year, he is obviously capable o using a computer so that is a lame argument for not entering and the entry fee if you don't turn up we don't cash the check so it doesn't cost you any thing to not ride. I have just ridden a national at Addingham, name another sport where a 37 year old is competitive (kind of) can ride along side a world champ and various other international/national superstars without being ridiculed and laughed at, I know most do laugh at my unique style but you get the gist of what I am getting at. Please please let us all try and pull the sport together instead of ripping it apart, we all have one thing in common...... We all live and love to ride no matter what style no matter how good or how bad we are so just get out and do your thing. Sorry I did say I wouldn't rant but I guess I did a bit. JP
  10. Get your folks riding with you, family affair, right laugh. Mam and dad keep telling me to grow up,
  11. Price of fuel, the split in the two camps ruined it for me and I am part of it!!!!! Still I am going to Addingham tomorrow to do the national it will be ace, can't wait. JP
  12. Might have a day out see what were doing. John
  13. Get in there Ben. I tought him everything he knows. Well done pal. JP
  14. Am i correct in thinking that Ben is the only ever british rider to reach obtain this accolade. If he is then a huge well done to him. i think he deserves it with all the hard work he puts in. He went around his second lap on one less point than Benito Ross, now that deserves a pint from me. Again a HUGE well done from me. John.
  15. 37 loving it more each time I ride, beat the little feckers to a pulp is what I say!
  16. Sorry to here all of this Dave. We have done a couple of YMSA trials over the years and yes they are very good, chilled out and well run and we have always been made to feel very welcome indeedy. If I had one tiny criticism, and it is only a thought, i found them to be a little bit "elitist" (sp?). They are very hard for the little ones to ride because of the UCI thing. Yes I agree it is no doubt the way it is all going and i do prefer to watch it as it is much cleaner and smoother, however it is very hard to accommodate the little kids that we need to back fill when the older ones move on. Anyhow they are my thoughts for all they are worth. Again Dave Dan Ash and the rest of the Butler clan, I hope it is only a blip and it all works out because, as has been said before on here people need choices and we do need a club to run UCI events in this country. John and Robbie P
  17. Yes Ash 4 years at college wasn't wasted after all I have just received some gear from Steve at heatsink. Steve will be running a piece for his web site a soon as we can get together and sort it out, Nice shiny new cnc backings with red pads. rob seems very happy with the performance of them so far I will keep you posted on how it all goes. Thanks Steve i really appreciate your help. i will get some pics of the set up as soon as I can...but damn they look good. Thanks again, John.
  18. My advise is to just turn up and have a go, you will not be mocked by people and you will have a real good time as well. It doesn't matter how good/bad you think you are there will always be somebody at your level to compete against and when you beat em you will feel as though you have won a world round belive me it is buzz. JP
