Stretching, bananas, quinine, salt, loads of water are all good ways of preventing or delaying onset of cramp. They have various effects on different people. The number one solution for me is Chicken Crimpys (not sure if you can can get them here). Its a baked biscuit and loaded with salt. Tasty too. Usd to eat a box before a XC race so I wouldnt end up crossing the line with 1 leg and my hands cramped around the bars.
I picked up some Planet X shin pads from ebay quite cheaply. 5 velcro straps and good hard plastic insert. No problems with comfort. The hard plastic insert was flat so it was a bit ridiculous sticking out from the shin. I undid a bit of the stitching, pulled the insert out, put it in a tray of boiling water, moulded it to my shin, set it in the fridge and put it back in. Have had no problems. Magic!
I totally agree on wearing goggles but am not so sure on wearing gloves. You can lose some tactility with gloves = possibility of hands in grinder or even picking up on velcro tabs or any loose materials. If the grinder is guarded you shouldnt have a problem with aluminium filings in your hands.
Lookin good. You've got some awesome areas to play around on. Too bad your mum wont get out and shoot some vid for you. Surely theres someone you can ask to hold a cam for you? Some non static camera shots, a bit of editing and a soundtrack and thats got loads of potential. But then again why waste time editing when you can spend it riding....
Ouch, would hate to see anyone come into contact with that thing when its rotating, or even static for that matter. Might be able to spear a few slow moving ground squirrels too. What material are you using?
Have had an '05 2SixH for a few months. First trials bike so cant really compare trials wise. I like it a lot and is good to learn on. Having a few issues with reliability of parts selection but the frame seems solid as.
hop from an object, or from stationary, and plant front wheel (with rear in the air) onto object and then switch front wheel and rear wheel. For example a gap where you cant get to rear or bash but can get front on, then need to place rear wheel where front is/was.
down under, sunburnt country, bondi beach, opera house, harbour bridge, kangaroos, neighbours, homos away, kylie, losing the ashes, no chance for WC Germany 06.........
How did people learn a front to rear tap (or stall) for getting onto small, difficult or far away objects. Just go for it or would it be easier to learn how to front hop before attempting this to improve balance etc?
No one mentioned the shuffle. If you're not concerned about a screen (which you cant really look at whilst riding) then its a cheaper alternative - and tiny.
Saracen MAD frame (my first trials bike so dent go too crazy) with an EX-S rim on the crappy Acera 8spd hub/body. Rim is holding up really well so would be a shame to sideline it.
Forgive my ignorance, have only ever run Shimano and Hugi hubs previously, but do the Hopes take Shimano cassettes?
Also, if I couldnt find 2nd hand and had to buy new it would probably be cheaper getting a new wheel built rather than lacing new hub to existing rim? Any rim suggestions?
Cheers.
Am running original Shimano hub and body that came with my Saracen. Have killed the freehub twice in as many months. Problem is, its an Acera body that has a male engagement (opposite to higher spec hubs) into the female hub so standard upgrades arent possible. The pawls are breaking and the body cracking. Has anyone solved this issue without upgrading the hub?
