  6. Hey, Sure mate, the forum is for asking questions and helping people right. Well here's how i approached the grit-salt bin. 1. Get in a comfortable position on the bike. 2. Hop up to back wheel. 3. Lower your front wheel down the side of the obstacle or slightly to the side. 4. Lower your body position on the bike. 5. Give a huge kick and spring up towards the obstacle. 6. Hop a few times on the edge to gain balance. 7. Turn hop off. 8. Then ride off smiling. Hope that helped if more information is needed please ask again. Cheers Jaf P.s Ewan i think thats the beach wall? Also its big huge well done for that mate. (Y)
  7. hey, I would personally say foam grips are one of the nicest grips around. There are however a few faults with foam grips , 1. In the rain or river when your hands are wet or grips are wet you will find they can get rather 'slidy'. 2. Can have a rather quick ware rate on them. Then again they have good points too. , 1. Shape to fit your hands 2. Can be very comfortable 3. They are nice to ride for along time. i.e Say if you were riding in a competion and you had to ride all day it wouldn't be too sore on your hands. Hope i helped Cheers Jaf
  8. Hey all, I was out riding tonight doing the normal gap here and there and the odd sidehop. I was later on my way home a bit early to stop of and try a hop-up. It was a grit salt bin, Made it up quite easy then hoped round and off. I have started to go much bigger now with hop-ups and now find i can do it up things that need a lot more presision and accuracy. Do you think my hop-up the grit salt bin was large? And could you all post your biggest? from cerb to bin or whatever. Cheers Jaf

  10. Hey, Well up here in stonehaven its always growing, we have new riders coming into the sport all the time. In my eyes its a good thing, more riders means people know about our sport, we get more venues to do our sport in, and more competions can be arranged with more riders . cheers Jaf

  15. Hey, A few tips to help you get on your way matey, 1. The first thing i learn't was balance on two wheels no brakes just standing up trying to balance. - trackstand 2. Brake control just try roling along and pulling one of your brakes to get familiarised with whats, what up front. 3. Then i learn't to cranker to give myself control on the backwheel, - sound stupid but it works. 4.Now you want to start bunny hoping lifting two wheels off the ground as far as you can. - helps your landings. 5. Maybe a backhop if you feal up to it mind. - Its simple if you think of it in steps - Firstly pull an endo ( balancing on the font wheel) then switch to back wheel the let of the brake give a slight pedal and pull it on again, AND remember dont do it slowly or with no brake on you will roll out and fall so do it as quick as you can. 6. Once you have backhops mastered you will be able to try droping of a cerb. To do this start backhoping towards the edge of a cerb then do one backhop once on the edge to get off the cerb and land it wont take anytime to land but when you progress to bigger drops you will feal it takes longer to land, bend yours knees on lading to make it smoother!! 7. Once and only once all these tips are mastered try finding yourself a small gap to try and cross. To gap you must first start backhoping towards the edge then give one large power backhop and spring towards the landing. Once you land let the front wheel land and ride of smiling! 8. Always were a helmet. 9. Ride with people better then you and watch just how its done. Hope i helped Cheers Jaf

  24. Hey, We always get "moved on" in aberdeed because we may fall into an old person who will be walking pacefuly along when one of us on our bikes will land on her - This is all cr*p made up by the bald security guy at st nicks and its very anoying i know but in the end if you just move on peacefully they might learn to like you and let you stay for a little bit longer next time before they feel like being the big man and chucking you off!! to people who let trials riders stay to people who dont let us stay Cheers Jaf
