  1. Unless the trials vid is old-ish?? I've seen 360's done loads a times?? like travis pastrana and so on on MX bikes! That was a wicked video though, really enjoyed that... want to see more
  2. Hi thanks for replies.. I'm glad you've mentioned that it helps with general bike skills too as one of the reasons I want a moto trials bike is to get more confident/ride more often to imrpove my stunt riding on the CBR600.. also because I'm enjoying it on the push bike so thought the moto would be just as fun.. Bike wise I'll probably be looking at a 2nd hand, 250 i think? not really looked into it too much, a few friends have said I could get a decent second hand starter bike for about £1000-£1500, id prefer not to spend more than a grand but not sure what can be got for that... realistically im not going to be able to afford one for a few months anyway but was going to maybe rent one to see what its like or something.
  3. Hey, I've been getting interested in moto trials lately but can't afford the bike yet so have started on my push bike type.. just wondered if the techniques and skills are relatively similar, only with an engine instead of peddling? I ride motorbikes so riding a trials bike will be easy in terms of actually riding but would the trials skills be the same for moto trials as it is on the push bike? I know it won't be exactly the same but hopefully you can see kinda what I'm getting at... thanks.
  4. Ah sorry I didn't realise.. just looked at the pics then replied :$ either way, seen a fair few portsmouth people on the forum so still more than I expected.. looked like you all had a top day
  5. Yer I bribed all the mods Theres plenty of pics of me on my CBR, im a camera whore!! Want to be doing shows end of year/next if all goes well! You can see pics of me here www.onewheelonly.co.uk/gallery/ mostly old pics to be honest, but you can see the progression (ive only been stunting since january) and theres some random other pics on that site too That was me being dragged along, first time I'd done it and it was AFTER I fell off 3 times that my mate said "ah you're meant to keep your weight over the bike and not on the floor!"
  6. I'm working on slow wheelies, not a great deal of people in the UK that can wheely slowly.. combination of getting the wheel really high really quick and working the rear brake loads. I can get it down to about 10mph at the minute but there are people that can go slower.. best way is to show you my video.. it's mostly older footage from earlier this yaer but its still good havent ridden much lately due to police hassles Right Click Save As
  7. Brilliant pictures! Never knew there were so many trials riders in portsmouth Cool pics.
  8. I personally haven't yet... come close a few times last week, think I'm getting a bit too over-confident with them... but my friend flipped a stoppie today and broke his finger badly (in 3 places!) and has to have an operation on wednesday I've not flipped a wheely yet either, guess thats down to good brake control. but im sure my time will come Yep it is a bit close.. and here's what happens if it gets too close I didn't fall off, just the exhaust come off... I have since cut about 5 inches out of it so it doesn't scrape any more.. will also have a 12 bar fitted next week so I can do some scraping action..
  9. Hi, thanks for the info.. for a while I've thought the rear mech was bent.. when I first had the problems (obivously I stopped riding it and got it checked) the rear mech seemed to hit the spokes.. my neighbour said it was just adjusted wrong (halfords special! ) and I let him adjust them, they worked fine after that and nothing touched anywhere else, all gears except the outter cog worked fine... and now it keeps slipping off.. it's done it 4 times tonight now.. I was out a minute ago just in my garden, my balance improved and I was working on some backward hop things (the first tutorial on the website that brought me here.. ) can only get about 6 inches off the floor but it's a start It's off again now and I've left it, got a bit annoyed with it to be honest might get one of those chain guide things to see if that helps out. I'll adjust it up some more and hope it works fine until I can afford a proper trials bike... Oh and a slightly funny story from a bit of riding earlier this evening.. I was practicing wheelying up to a obstacle (in this instance a 1.5 ft high brick wall) and then pulling the back wheel up onto it.. nothing amazing but just a bit of newbie practice.. was doing it for a bit... then I done it again but dropped the wheel just before the wall, hit the wall with the front tyre and the wall collapsed. OOPS! Thanks Charel and everyone else for validating me, nice to be able to post where I want now As I have no decent trials pics I'll just post a couple of me on my CBR600 motorbike.. but as soon as I get good enough to have a trials picture taken I'll post some of them too Not quite the same I know, but motorbikes are what got have gotten me into trials biking so anything with 2 wheels is good to me Thanks again.
  10. Nice one for that link.. just gone and had a look.. might take that of his hands if I can get some cash up together... if not I might buy that one new in a few weeks... seems to be highly rated from what I've read so far for a newbie. Cheers.
  11. Thanks Think I might have to look into a cheap trials bike because my GT is doing my head in.. somethings wrong with the gears, the chain keeps coming off the lowest cog and getting caught between the spindle and cog making it hard to get out!! pain in the arse and I've already wrecked a chain when it got caught... it's come off 3 times tonight and all I'm doing is trying to balance in my back garden!! not doing anything mad at all yet the chain keeps slipping off been adjusted loads by my neighbour whos been MTBing for years so he knows a fair bit, just can't seem to get the gears to work properly Guess I better do some reading on here then
  12. Hey! Just come across this forum.. found the main site with the riding tips first, then took a look in here. I never knew there were so many trials riders in Portsmouth...! I'm not exactly a trials rider myself but I do try a bit.. I've got a GT Aggressor (aye I know it sucks!) that ive been using for XC and all I seem to do on it is wheelie it everywhere, lately I've been trying some more trials like stuff, although I suck good fun though. Been wanting to get a trials motorbike, but can't afford one just yet so thought I'd play on the push bike instead! anyway, nice site and nice forum!
