howard-moon Posted July 24, 2007 Report Share Posted July 24, 2007 (edited) I had the hardest time trying to get my old freewheel off...I tried to:-Use the tool-Angle grind it-Place the free wheel in a vice and use the crank as a lever-Hitting it with a hammer to make it loose-LubeThe only way i managed to finally get it off was by welding a long piece of steel to the freewheel,place the crank in a vice and twist. jsychem Posted July 27, 2007 Report Share Posted July 27, 2007 the best way i've found to, is to put the tool in a vice, put the freewheel on it and put a bolt through to keep the tool and freewheel in place. After making sure the vice and bolts are secure get a scaffolding pole and bend it to fit on the crank. It should then come off with no trouble. i've done it about five times and you barely need to push. Another thing i do is to put some grease under the freewheel when you put it on, it will always help to get it off!!! hope that helps.
