If you mean that it almost seem loose and has "play" in it, then yes thats normal on bb5's and 7's. Performance ,as you can imagine, isn't altered and surprisingly doesn't cause any "spongyness" (tryed and tested Oddessy cable and cheapy Raleigh cable used on bb5, Shimano XTR on bb7 - all fine)

need a picture to be honest mate. not got a clue in the blue what you're talking about

If its the "arm" which moves up and down when the cable is pulled, then maybe tighten the nut? in any case tighten the most sensible nut and it may fix it ;)

It has to act to retract the moving brake pad when you let go of the lever, so look for suitable notches/holes in the brake arm and the caliper body to correspond with this requirement and the shape of the ends of the spring...

I looked as i thought there would be two holes to correspond but couldn't find any, wtf...
