Street Trials Conversion.

right i have a 24seven slacker ss.

I had an idea of converting it into a street trials bike.

Rigid forks, longer stem you get the idea.

The bike currently weighs 16kg its not that bad for a steel framed jump bike.

current spec.

Marzochhi dj3's

Front and rear 36h 24seven rims with fluro orange sealed 24seven hubs

new dmr wingbars

charge saddle

24seven bmx style stem

maxxis holy roller tyres

rear avid juicy 3.

24seven bmx style 3 piece cranks with 24seven y frame pedals.

i have a vague idea what spec i'd have it if i did go through with the conversions.

Echo controls, or urbans (stock)

trialtech 24" black drilled (or not) with some deng hubs probably, unless i can get some pro 2's

A longer stem possiably hope.

bars maybe staying the same temporarily because i like the rise.

tyres would stay

and again some isis cranks, deng or trialtech.

The frame geo (i can find) is:

top tube. 21.75"

chainstay. 15 1/2"

head angle. 72 degrees.

BB. 12"

My questions are.

Would the rigid forks seriously kill the rideability?

Would this be a reasonably good idea?

should i be looking at running a rear V, if so what arms/ pads?

Any photoshop ideas would be great.

Any other information you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Davey.

hey the only thing i can think of is wrong with your potential spec is the fork may be to short for the frame- making the headangle poo and bb a bit to low.....

look at a longer fork- usually heavier but the angles will feel nicer.

mabey like a side kick fork or a rigid dirt fork?

Thats what i was thinking, identiti make a rigid fork to replace 80mm travel forks i may concider it.

Thanks. keep the help coming.

Keep the 24/7 hub on the rear they are a beaut. They dont sell them anymore and sound awsome to be honest lol.

They never sold the ones i have seperatley anyway, they still sell the complete wheels.

And I don't have the money for the "tool for the job"

Ryan leech it being?

Thanks.

To be honest, trying to ride trials on that will only hold you back.

Keep that built for what it's best at, and start looking at buying a proper trials bike. Doesn't have to be new, often see some right deals around the classified section on here!

I am quite aware of that from the 6 bikes or so i've bought of here including the 24seven.

I wanted to try make something along the lines of an inspired but that i can convert back for the on off jumping i do.

Plus the geo is reasonably similar and i like to be different :).

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to put you down on the idea.

I've seen people try and do it before though, get a streety jump bike, then try and turn it into a trials bike.

One of my mate's did it, and ended up changing the whole bike!

Sorry think i came across mardy there, my bad.

Its something i've wanted to try for a while, i've seen someone's NS and i like the look of it. Seems different and its a cheaper option for me at the moment.

Having just traded a monty for this i don't want to start buying and selling again right now.

It's still in the ifs and buts stage, thanks for idea sorry for being snappy :( .
