Echo-Scott Posted June 19, 2009 Report Share Posted June 19, 2009 If you want to clean the pads, Just file the top surface of them down abit to get whatever is on them off (Eg; Tar). Sand paper will also do the job and if you really need, Just rub them against a wall/stone and that will do it to.If you want to clean the rim though, White spirit will do a great job. Redneck Posted June 19, 2009 Report Share Posted June 19, 2009 i tar my rims and i found the best way to clean them is to use something like simple green (or something like it that doesnt leave a residue) and ride around a bit with your brakes on then wipe all the crud off with a rag. if you dont feel that works good enough you can do all the scrubbing by hand, which is what i usually end up doing. it looks like you have already solved your problem so.....i hope this will help you in the future.
