peggysue Posted October 25, 2009 Report Share Posted October 25, 2009 i know alot of people seem to use 18 front and 15 rear on stock. ive always used 22tooth front and 18 rear. i have a tensile 96 click on the rear which is great but wanting to change my gearing slightly...as i cant change the freewheel as most are 18 tooth .. would a 18 rear and 21 tooth sprocket upfront be the same as a 18:15..if so where the hell can i get a 21tooth chainring from? really want to buy some middleburn cranks with a tnn bash which fits the 5 bolt chain rings but they seem tomonly come in 20 or 22 tooth. before anyone replies i dont want to run a front freewheel. it would mean having a screw on rear sprocket , which along with the freewheel would be an absolute pain to get off,as im a big lad and they really do tighten up very tight with my weight. dont want to run a rear hub i.e hope pro or king...just want to keep a freewheel on rear and try work around getting a slightly easier gearing, using middleburns and 5 bolt chainring. i could just simplt go for 20 tooth on front but thinkthat its probably far to easy gear?god knows ... any advice? It's actually like the same as 22-19.4 or something lol. 18-15 is an easier gearing than 22-18.Forget that, 18-15 is EXACTLY the same as 22-18(.33333333333333333333333333333) lol. I know few people who have 165mm with 18-18t or 18-17t or 18-16 with 175s and 170s. At the moment I am running 18-15 with 170 and that feels a bit hard, especialy on the rocks!
