Hey guys,

I just got a new Element fork and an fsa equipe headset and the lowest like 2cm of the forks steerer are too thick to fit through the lowest seal of the headset.

is it normal that it gets thicker at the end?

If you mean the crown race, yes they can be tight, you need a tool to put them on properly, I just fitted one onto my new console forks using same headset and it was right, ended up using a pole over the steerer and banging it down. You could cut a split in it, with a hacksaw, some headsets use a split crown race anyway.

just take a random metal tube thats like 32 to 34mm in inner diameter, put your crown race on the steerer, the tube on top(one thats long enough to stand over the steerer) and hammer it down with gently strokes.

the tool in our workshop is nothing else than a metal tube with a cap on top.
