Organising An Event

Recommended Posts

im only a rookie so im kind of stuck as to what is expected

New riders express an interest in a competition designed for you - we welcome any helpful pointers in what to include in a course which will be hopefully as big as a basketball pitch! with pallets skips and ...

what else i keep askin same answers come out it would be an indoor event in a large warehouse or sumthing but its something my mates have wanted to do for ages and they are planning it for this summer in july roughly the 20th there thinking!!!

would you be interested in helping design a course and give ideas of new unique things to ride which would prove a challenge to the best of riders and something quite scary to us piss poor riders

OK

You need to be certain on your location. We're lucky enough to have an old sports hall we can use for ours although Youll have to look into the cost of hiring the place for the day (don't forget you need to allow time to put everything up and down)

Secondly you need to sort out insurance. We've been recommended to try Perkins and Slade insurance brokers (google them) as they're really good. They've sent me back an E-mail using lingo I can't quite grasp so be warned of that....

Once your costs are finalised, you are ready to have fun. You have to decide what event you want course layout etc. Basically you want to find a range of riders from crap to ace. That way there is something for everyone. Also if you're clever enough you can design a single section to have lines for novice riders, as well as elite riders

So the list:

Find out the place and costs

Find out insurance and costs

Send out entry forms with carefully decided entry fee

Design the event

Hope this helps.

Sounds to me that you havn't got a venue sorted for sure 'looking at' and actually having a venue is a differant matter.

Without a venue you couldn't possibly have insurance. The insurance company are only going to want to insure those who are participating in the event, if you don't tell them where that is they wont offer insurance on the basis that they can't be sure the premises themselves are safe.....

You'd get much more done if you talked to the right people too, rather than asking a bunch of riders 90% of which most likely have never organised a sunday dinner nevermind a trials demo. Local council, local cycling clubs maybe even motorcycle trials clubs.....
