Spoke Length

Right got these today on warranty and also due to XC no longer made (well black only) and my new rims.

Built the rear fine no problems, 260 all round, drive probs could do with 258 but meh they are all tight and lovely. DT said 259 so 260 it was.

Front how ever.

DT swiss says to use some really odd stuff, tried 258 and they are way to long, like long than a porn stars whatsit.

So 32 hole, 3 cross, Mavic D521 front fpro 2, anyone know what to use?? i dfid;nt have time to fiddel anymore but though it be worth asking and seeing if other have had problems too

Oh word of warning, the spoke now fit tight, yep tigther than you mummy. Was a right royal pain to lace up due to this, least it held it shape.

These are for my trail/single track old school rig not trials. King is for trials

It's what i used but the legnths don't work

I tried just lacing up the basic starting off of 8 spokes, they all showed there and then too long

3 other checked in the shop and said the same

I'll try tarty to9mrow to see what they say but i did use that link as there is only one dt swiss

No,

We stock hope hubs, so we took one off the stock to replace the one that was faulty. An email went to hope fact Alan @ Hope for him to advice us. There was a very notciable margin in the spoke drilling. We check a few of our stock and found 2 more like it. Date codes match too.

So that little lot went back one taken form stock and built, you do have to put a huge twist on these and job done. How ever i ran out of 258's so used 260's all round but wound em up tightly

We've had a few call with same problem and e-mails too

you must be busy then? still own rocket cycles too? or are you busy at ebc?

hows the pic coming along?

Mate still has my Hd sorting and benching on his PC.

Nope if you'll check you'll see

Rocket Cycles

The Rocket

Bike Tech Bristol

All 3 are all the same trading name. They are also closed. Ebay account dead too with full closer and 100% trust. Me living here in Plymouth and them up there was too much to. Only wya t learn is by doing so.

EBC was when i was young and then when the old man needed some massive help when they got hammered with orderds and some staff got sacked. It was 2 years ago i last worked there and left for perosnal reason between myfather and there on. We haven't spoken from that day and probs will never ever again.

It's easy to run a mail order, need nothing big to do it nor lots of cash, £10K to be safe. Say bye to £3K least in advertising in the 1st 3 months mind!!! Mind them 1st 3 will carry over to being 9 months of totaly advertising with how long it all takes for it to get out there and printed etc and then repoated prints. Need a place to run/stroage, stock, web/ebay, phone, e-mail, postal and guts to put up with dam anyoing calls and good ear for funny acents. Oh and a online account say world pay for payments.

Pete as for the spoke length thing Id re-check the crossing + lacing. I thought the spokes tarty had sent me were too long but it was just me being silly and lacing them 3x instead of 4x

I sorted it in the end. Doggy hub was 1st problem but you have to put a wacking great big twist on these. You twist it so far the spoke cross nearly looking 4x of how the spokes go over the head backing even though it's 3x not 4x. Feel nice in hand the wheel and i'll soon be rididng it
