Learning To Drive

Don't buy an old VW Polo what ever you do. They are as useless as a one legged man arse kicking competition. I used to have one, every time we went over 36 mph the oil pressure warning light came on and it started to make a buzzing noise. Useless. But a few laps round the banger-racing track made me feel much better :)

You obviosuley didnt know how to take care of it then?

Some people are full of shit

true, that were obviously a problem and he didnt rectify it...so its his fault not the cars

but to be fair, the old polos/golfs brakes are absolute toss if friends cars are anyhting to go by, i guess a pad upgrade would help

I've got my test coming up in October so at the moment I'm investigating first cars. I'm learning with the AA so I'm currently in a Focus and I also drive my mum's Clio (I hate it, pedals are too small and I keep hitting my head on the ceiling!). I'm looking at getting an Escort maybe a 1.4 , confused quoted me 1.2 grand for 3rd party which doesn't seem too bad. Anyway does anyone here own/drive an Escort and would they be suitable for a first car (moving from a Focus)?

cheap = anything diesel.

cheap and awsome = do yourself up an old mini, costs next to nothing. then insurance is low and if its 30 years or older, its exempt from road tax...which i've just paid £90 for 6 months.

edit: unless you don't like minis...then that info is useless

Tax rules have changed. It's no longer 30 years.

I'm paying tax for my 30 year old mini :(
