Come on guys i need more help. I run 22,18 that was really hard and made the bike feel really haevy. Then i went to 18.16 and that was to easy and the kicking was to easy to do. So i was think about 20.16 what do you lot think. I am running 170 cranks.

20:16 will be harder than 22:18

The way to work it out is to divide the front sprocket by the rear sprocket, i.e. 22/18=1.222

The higher the number the harder it will be to kick, 20:16 would be 20/16=1.25 wich is harder than 1.222

Your current geering is 18/16=1.125

So you want a number between 1.125 and 1.222

A few examples of geering you could run:

18/15=1.2

20/17=1.176

16/14=1.142

does engagement points effect how stiff the gearing feels ? because i have a try-all freewheel and the same gear ratio I'm used to 18:14 feels stiffer now all thou i have had 18;16 for a short time in between so it could be i got used to that but i remember 18:14 being lighter before i had this freewheel.
