Hi there people.

Well I have the new model T-mag with the internal headset. :)

When I bought it, it had one of them ameba head lock things that goes right to the bottom of the forks and the headset kept on coming loose. (N) I bought a star flange and top cap thinking that the ameba thing was knackered but after fitting the new star flange and top cap, the f***ing thing still keeps on coming loose!!! :o(N)

I was wondering if anyone knew why it was doing this and a way to resolve it such as a new headset or whatever???

Cheers. CJ.. (Y)

It can't be any of them because I put a standard onza cap back on it and I thought it might of been that the forks were too long so I cut them down the other day (N) Cheers anyway luv you xx lol CJ.. (Y)

The star nut was new and inserted correctly as it has made little grooves in the forks where it grips. And of course I undid the stem bolts first lol *[sARCASM]*. :D It does tighten up but after about 10 minutes riding it begins to come loose again and is quite annoying!!!

I can't think of any other reason why it would do it as i was sure it was the head lock thing but was wrong..

Thanks for the interest anyway mate.. (Y)

Come on people, any information is apreciated as I want to get to the bottom of this problem!!! lol

Mine did this, have you checked the headset bearings? DON'T keep tightening it as you'll chrush the bearings and then your forks will start to wobble!

OOOOOOOO no I haven't checked them, I will do and see if that is the problem..

Cheers mate CJ.. (Y)

Are the forks new? If they've been used before then they might still have the spacer from an old headset stuck on them.

I had this problem a month ago, it's just worth checking.

Well the bike was second hand so I wouldn't have a clue whether it had the wrong spacer on the bottom or not :( . I might just buy a new headset and see if this cures it???.. CJ.. (Y)

your forks might be a tiny bit to long if that is the problem just go and bye some spacers of get your forks cut down. :-

Oright mate, I thought it could have also been something to do with the forks being too long, so i took a hacksaw to them and it still does it lol  so I don't know anymore.. New headset i think CJ..(Y)

Hi all, thanks for all of your help but I think I may have got to the bottom of the problem!!! :D My bike has (had) onza lite Guys on it, when I first bought the bike I took out the forks to grease up the headset and noticed that there was something near the bottom of the steerer tube which looked like glue. :(<_<

I thought they had been bodged by the last owner but thought, no, no-one would be that stupid surely!!??

Well, I was again trying to resolve the problem of the wobbly headset in my shed last night, but as I was tightening it, it was getting looser and looser!!! This had me scratting my head now, I was getting annoyed!!.

All of a sudden, my front end went light and my forks, without the steerer tube, hit the floor!!!

You must be able to change the steerer tube in lite guys and when I had been tightening the headset, it was uplling the steerer tube out of the top of the forks. :o

I can't see any reason why anyone would need to change a steerer tube so I think that design is a stupid and dangerous one. I have today ordered some Echo lite forks from the guys at Tartybikes and they said they should be here for tomorrow..!! :D

Some useful information for you lot if you run with lite guys, use a headlock that goes to the bottom of the steerer tube like the one below, then there is no pressure pulling it out of the forks. (Y)dsc00114qv0.jpg

Once again, thanks to everyone who added to this topic and tried to help. (Y)

Cheers CJ.. (Y)
