it would be more expensive, but will probably be better quality.

do you have any experience in building bikes?

(Echo, Zoo, Adamant, GU, Onza) - Frame

Same for forks.

Any headset will do.

Echo or something similar for the stem

Zoo Handlebars

Echo 2007 rims

Magura brakes frotn and rear

Plazmatic crm's rear pads

zoo pads front

Maxxis minion tyres

hope pro 2 2007 rear hub

Any front hub

Tensile cranks

Echo external bb

onza shin dig pedals

Something along the lines of that would be a great bike.

To be honest you are better off customizing a bike mate if you have £700.

The complete bikes or 'starter' bikes do not have good componants on them and break easily and fast.

Ideally a new rider should have strong parts, as they will not be as smooth controlled and accurate as some of/ all experianced riders.

I think that it would be best for you to get a stock bike (mountain bike) and start out on that. The parts are a lot more common and easier to get than the mod bikes (bmx sized wheels).

Also, to get the best prices, visit some specific bike trials shops and see what you fancy.

Here is a guide to a good enough spec for your budget and for your level of riding...

parts can be bought from Tartybikes

Frame: Echo pure 2007 - £219.00

Forks: onza tuff guys - £40

Headset:FSA pig - £17.00

stem: fsa os - £23.00

Bars:onza t raptor - £25.00

Front wheel: revell rim on dmr revolver hub and sapim spokes - £70.00

Back wheel: Hope mono with sapim spokes on dx32 rim rim - £120.00

Tyres: maxxis minion front and rear £40.00

Bottom bracket: Truvativ gigapipe - £35.00

Cranks:Echo forged - £52.00

Pedals: vp - £12.00

Backguard: adamant - £20.00

Front sprocket: echo screw on £17.00

Brakes: magura hs33s - £125.00

Brake pads: Plazmatic cmrm's x 2 - £34.00

chain: KMC kool - £12.00

derailier: suntour - £10.00

All for just under 800 pounds (if you can stretch your budget a bit) This spec will last a lot longer than 'starter' bike spec...

YOU BETTER GET THIS! THIS TOOK ME AGES.DAMN YOU NEW MEMBERS LOL...

Good luck..

thank you very much for putting that effort in, i do appreciate it, i dunno about stretching the budget, i could do it, although means it'll take longer to get (spose it's better to wait and abit longer and get a better bike than rush into it).

one problem, big problem, i have no idea how to put a bike together.. at all ... not at all! so that is probably going to hold me back

well alot of the stuff is pretty simple to put together.

some of it will need to be put together with a special tool such as bottom bracket, or headset.

if you get it off tarty bikes then you can pay for it to be done by them, so it will be built well (Y)

brilliant! and i really like the frame anyway :)

so now i basically have the parts, on looks, is it good to have all one colour (all black) or better to mix it up, cos for the headset i could choose different colours and for the forks too

wow the adamanet a1 frame is lovely, and it looks like i can just buy the frame, would it be ok getting that frame or would that lead to a consquence of having to change other parts?

becuase atm i am liking the adament a1 07' with the echo control 07' fork, with some black hope pro 2 hub's

oo exiciting, building a bike, even if it is on the web :P

I've build one on tartybikes.co.uk, just over £900, coming nearer to £1000 actually, as by the time i will be able to afford it - June'ish, it'll almost be my birthday, so hopefully i will be able to get some more money by then :)

this is how it goes:

Frame: Adament A1 07' (Short (would love an explanation on what short or long means in terms of a frame)) - Cost: £299

Forks: Onza TuffGuy - Cost: £39

Headset: FSA Pig - Cost: £17

Stem: FSA OS - Cost: £23

Handlebars: GU Flat Bar - Cost: £30

Front Wheel: Revell Front rim with DMR Revolver hub - Cost: £50

Rear Wheel: Alex DX-32 rim with Hope XC rear hub - Cost: £100

Spokes: 2x Saphim Race 26" - Cost: £30

Tyres: Maxxis Minion (Front & Rear) - Cost: £40

Bottom Bracket: Truvativ Gigapipe - Cost :35

Cranks: Echo Forged - Cost: £52

Pedals: DMR V8 (i thought the Onza VP looked kinda brutal as as i am a newbie i will be smashing the pedals against my shins alot :P) - Cost: £21

Backguard: Adamant - Cost: £20

Front Sprocket: Echo Screw-On - Cost £17

Brakes: Magura HS33's - Cost: £125

Brake Pads: 2x Plazmatic CRM's - Cost: £34

Chain: KMC Kool - Cost: £12

Derailleurs: Onza Trial's Mech - Cost: £18

Shipping: £5

Getting tartybikes.co.uk to build the bike: around £20 to £30 i hope!

Total: £1005 max

Tell me what you think, if there are any bits which arn't compatible and i'll take another look.

thanks in advance

btw- on some products ie. the sprockets, next to it, it has a little drop down menu with 13T on, other products have this sort of option, could you just tell me what that means?)

the ammount of teeth it has, a good gear ratio is 18T front sprocket and the rear should be 15T or 16T

probably the most popular ratios

1. will all parts be compatible
