  1. I use a vee brake as they have the most holding power, easiest brakes to pull, they are also lighter, more adjustable, can get spare parts in supermarkets and I don't get as bad arm pump when in comps. Pads last longer too as they don't wobble around.

Thought you were using thin air at the moment? :-

  2. Agreed. Mint greeny one but with a better stripe.

Yeah I'm leaning towards the green one, not seen many bikes in this colour. I'm gonna spray myself, I did a job on a Czar i got off Bigman a couple of years ago and that turned out quite well.

Agree it needs some stickers to tie it all together though. Prob try and get some custom ones made.

  3. Watergate Bay just outside Newquay. LOADS of rocks stretching all the way down the coast, mainly big rounded boulders. For more streety natural check out Cligger, just on the hill overlooking Perrenporth, its an old tin mine I think, but theres loads of concrete blocks.

Basically the people you want to speak to on here about spots in Cornwall are Bigman, Rich Pearson and Dan Pearce. They will sort you out. (Y)

    Hope this helps.

  4. Ok, so I'm now on my 5th red white and black bike, and to be honest getting a bit bored of them!

I have red bits on the bike so I'm thinking of something that will complement them, Im thinking a mix between the yeti blue and a sort of peppermint green. Not sure though. Did a very quick photoshop job to try and get an Idea. I'd quite like to keep the forks / wheels black by the way.

    what do you think?

  5. Wow that takes me back! Really miss those spots. :(

Dan, really cool little vid man, awesome to see you are getting back into riding.

This is worth a watch for the camerawork alone. Some really really gorgeous shots going on in there, loving the camera strapped to the frame stuff.

    Worth a watch people!

Hook up for a ride soon dude!

  6. Well i can tell you that rob didnt build it himself! And if he did, when he offers you a go, say no! You know what im talking about Rob!!

Dan, you know full well that i am an awesome mechanic. :- Besides, the Cannondale hasn't died... yet...

  7. Look really tidy. Love it. No stickers inspired though?

Bought the frame second hand and the stickers were a bit battered so I took them off. Kinda prefer it without to be honest. Might make up some custom ones though.

  8. Forgot to mention - huge thanks to everyone at Tartybikes for putting up with me for the day!

Hopefully be putting up a riding video soon.

In terms of riding, it feels surprisingly less cramped than I expected it to, even with the short stem. Main difference I have found is the balancing point on the rear wheel has taken a little time to nail. Brakes awesome in the dry - I'm running koxx blues and they have an awesome amount of bite when locked, but provide a nice amount of modulation. I did toy with the idea of a front disc but seems to be fine with the maggie. In the wet its a different story, nearly killed myself looping off the back when manualing when the brake slipped through! Guess I'll just have to hope for dry weather (ha!)

Had a little ride down the local skatepark on sunday and needless to say spins are a piece of piss compared to the echo. Pops up really nicely. Backwards noserolls are next on the agenda... see if I can loose a few teeth trying those! Really changed my approach to obstacles riding this frame, and its really refreshing.

If anyone wants a list of the rest of the spec just give me a shout.

  9. So, I finally decided to do something about my inability to bunnyhop.

Started watching an old video of mine from 1999 when I rode my Giant Hawyes and thought to myself, "I really miss just having fun on the bike!" Really sick of not having any decent natural to ride near me and bored of pogo-ing around. Took at little visit up to Tartybikes on Friday and got this little gem built up.

    My word.

Its been sessioned all weekend and must say I haven't had so much fun / ached so much in about 10 years of riding.

    Roll on summer!!

  11. Some good pictures there Sam, Good to see Rob on his bike (the guy on the white control)!

    Adam

Ha Cheers dude, its been a while. Gotta say, for a small space (although its bigger than the photos / videos would suggest) Ben and the guys have done an awesome job of fitting in a varied selection of stuff to ride. This place is defo worth a visit.

Ben - Sorry I couldn't stay too long, will come for another ride soon once my bike / body is behaving properly!

Some of the riding from these guys blew me away - actually enjoyed just sitting and watching!

    Proper Job!

    Rob
