  1. Evomounts: see the bolts? its what screws into the brake lugs of your v. They are a bugger to set up and get stiff though, I run hs33s on v mounts and with 2 v-boosters (one under the evo mounts and one over the top) and the standard booster and the thing still flexes. Works though, cos I've got decent pads.
  2. this one should: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...22855%26fvi%3D1 edit: forgot about these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rim-Jam-Magura-Hs11-...oQQcmdZViewItem new rimjam pads for under £5 I think I'm a bit of an ebay whore.
  3. Michael Singleton pointed this out to me on another thread: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=200099922855 Wellgo mg1 pedals, as I understand they are the same as hognesiums, yours for less than £25. edit: And how about a 99p hog rim? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ONZA-HOG-TRIALS-FRON...1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. Man that is fantastic! Your a diamond, cheers mate!!!
  5. Cheers guys, I think I might get some, but is the surface area nice and large? compared to v8s for example?
  6. Thinking of getting these as I want something nice and light (they are only 360g), and I need something cheap! What do you think?

The words I try to live by, from the side of a packet of matches: 'keep dry and away from children'
  8. it'll affect your braking if you've got rim brakes, and it'll probably get worse. Plus its not good practice to be riding around with buckled wheels when they're so easy to fix. go buy yourself a spoke key for a few quid, then get to work on those buckles! you want to loosen the nipples on the side where the brakes rub and tighten them on the side where they are far away from the brakes. only do it about 1/4 or 1/2 a turn, do it only where the buckle is and WORK SLOWLY!!!!!! if you start twisting your nipples lots soon you'll rim'll be all out of shape. Keep in mind what nipples you have turned and spin the wheel regularly to check where you are. I like to use a marker pen spin the wheel and leave a line where the buckle is. then you know the nipples that need work. wipe it off regularly and keep going till you've got a straight wheel. look here for more good luck!
  9. Do you know Catford outside Lewisham? Where abouts are you man?
  10. got in a discussion about this a while ago, can't remeber who it was, but they said flush with warm water with a little washing up liquid in it, this will clear out all of the oil. Then flush a couple of times more to make sure that the washing up solutions gone, then bleed again, and roberts your mother's brother. e.
  11. I have had 3 eybrows in one eyebrow at once, and they do grow out, as I understand that unless there is something between the surface of the skin or the bar (e.g. cartilage), then they will just grow out. Thats what happened to my eyebrow, and one of my mates nipples. That said I think the time it takes varies hugely, I have had one eyebrow grow out in about 6 months, and another stay in for nearly two years!, the one that grew out did leave a bit of a scar, but u cant see it behind the hair!
  12. ERD of the Mavic is 532mm ERD of the tryall is 542mm so a cm difference, so thats what, 5mm difference between the spokes needed? You'd probably get away with it, and you may aswell give it a go before going out and bying new spokes.
  13. Fair enough, recon I've just got a different set of priorities with my serious lack of cash!
  14. Why spend money on a new set of spokes when the ones you've got are probably fine? not to mention the time. If it keeps coming out of true with little abuse then rebuild it, but even then unless the spokes are bent I personally wouldnt bother replacing them, though I would be replacing the nipples.
  15. either the pads are out, or the wheels is out of alignment, try moving the pads first and if that doent work then realign your wheel. Start at the valve hole and make your way around the wheel, first loosening the spokes half a turn on the side of the wheel that is closest to the pads, then tighten the spokes half a turn that are furthest away from the pads. repeat until the pads contact evently. Do make sure that your brake is set up properly before you try this though.

Why do women always leave me for total smegheads? Why do they dump me for men who wear turtleneck sweaters and smoke a pipe? I mean, natural yoghurt eaters! Reliable, sensible, dependable, and lots of other words that end in "-ible." He's obsessed with house-prices, and spends half his life in antique fairs looking for bargains and drinking wine. It's never beer, is it, it's always wi-ine! "What do you want on your cornflakes, darling?" "Oh, I'll have some wine, please!" Smeg!
  17. Could be the headset needs greasing Could be the headset has been done up to tight and the bearings are grinding Could be that the headsets shagged, cos the cups and bearings are pitted. If its just a cheapo job, then replace the thing, its not a hard job and there are plenty of how tos knocking around. all you need to know about headsets
  18. Find a pub, apply for job. If you find a small independant pub then you may have just introduced yourself to the world of free beer, if its a chain pub then its persuading the customers that they want to buy you a beer and saving the recipts. The works hard, the money pants, but the people can be fantastic and drinking is great fun!
  19. but thats the whole idea of the study, looking at the friction coefficient of your hands on various rock surfaces, when dry (no sweat) wet (sweaty) dry and chalked, and wet and chalked (sweaty and chalked). They found that the lowest friction coefficient occured with wet chalked hands, and the highest with wet hands, i.e. your less likely to slip if you dont chalk up when your sweaty. I'm not saying that it is without flaws (how did they keep the pressure of hands on rock constant for one) but it does seem to suggest that chalk doesnt help. though I'm not chucking my chalk bag away anytime soon. edit - just thinking do you mean they dont take into account the increase in volume of wetness over time? I mean climbing harder and getting sweatier?
  20. As I said I still use chalk because subjectively I think it helps, but I'm interested to hear why you think the papers flawed? (sorry this is turning into a bit of a hijack!)
  21. although conventional wisdom says thats true, there is actually some argument that says chalk makes things worse. Read about it on ukclimbing a few years back, still climb with chalk though.
  22. D'oh! So much for my smart arseyness.
  23. Thats right, at least according to new scientist! Its apparently the nirtogen thats in solution in your blood turning rapidly into gas form (causing the snapping/popping sound). Its caused by the vacum that you create when you bend your joints in odd directions.
  24. Try Adrian Flux, I have my Mk4 polo insured with them and will get my Mk1 golf gti insured when it finally gets back on the road. My brother also uses this, he has a golf rally with a 1.8t in it, and a lowered passat diesel with a uprated turbo. He found that Adrian flux would insure the passat with the rally as a named car cheaper than anywhere else insured the rally alone! would say more, but works finished and its home time! Ciao!!
  25. Becuase for some reason this place is addictive, and I dont seem to be able to shake the habit of spending time on here while I'm at work (like now for example). If my boss catches me again she aint gonna be impressed, but what about the other staff? Do I need to be smacking the alt tab whenever any of them walk by or are some of them safe? >looks over shoulder suspiciously<
