well rims these days are made so thick that a small grind wont matter at all. Just tell him that. Thats what i said to my dad when i wanted to grind my wheels. he still thought it was a silly idea, but hearing my brakes justified the point lol. He then went out and bought me a new angle grinder lol. You can also tell him that falling off hurts and you need a good brake set-up so that you dont face plant things.
