Very good point, i'm thinking of making a much narrower centre section that slides onto the axle(i work in an engineering company so shouoldn't be a problem) but still not sure if it can be thin enough and still mount the spring.

Yeh not sure i ment SL now. The one thats listed as "echo sprung tensioner" on tarty bikes.

Just wandering if it's possible to bodge an SL tensioner (the one's that slide onto the hub) onto a tryall rear hub.
Or if anyone has one of these tensioners would they be so kind as to post a couple of pictures and measurements .

Uh Oh, looks like i may have started the rare event of a thread being turned into argument!
Having watched this and other previous "saayshell" vids i can't help but think riding a bmx would compliment his riding style and therefore be more enjoyable/rewarding.
However i do think that people should ride however the f**k they want on whatever bike they choose.

I'd love to see a set of ffw compatible middleburns, not cause i don't like my try-alls, more because i've always had burns until i went for a ffw setup last year.
Trouble is that it just doesn't add up when the accountants look at the figures involoved. The costs to develop new tooling are prob quite high and there aren't really that many trials riders to buy them.
Personally i think that lots of people using cranks that easily stand up to trials abuse and are still plenty light enough for xc can only help to sustain middleburns excellent reputation.

Old engineers trick:
Tap head of bolt with a chisel to form a groove ( a bit like flat headed screw) then with a cntre punch/small chisel/screwdriver gently hammer at a 45 degree angle on one side.
This method puts pressure down through the screw thread and also exerts a turning force. It's especially good for small bolts like you've had trouble with.

Fair enough but i wouldn't advise it personally. How about the older type try-all rim, there fairly solid at a good weight and available in 36h?

Not a problem transfering pistons and seals from 160 to 1800mm caliper, check hope website for overhaul guide.
I'm 99% sure all the new hope's use the same fittings so you should be able to use the lever without any probs.
Worth checking the master cylinders are the same size in both levers so you know your going to get the power you want.

DON'T
It is possible to lace 32-36 hole combinations but it will leave you with weak points in your wheel wich is not want you want on a trials bike.
Buy a 36 hole rim or bite the bullet and get a new 32h hub shell for your king!

180mm front in reasonable condition normally goes for about £65ish on here.

Definately start doing it the correct way while in the early stages of learning sidehops.
Try and keep your back straight and fairly upright on the setup and stay relaxed. Also try to slightly turn your body to face what your going on to( helps with the tuck!)
These are the things i concentate on and i'm up to 48" on a good day.

In general GT85 is a vast amount better than WD 40 but i def. think finish line wet lube is the way to go.

I'm sure there was a koxx prototype with brake mounts like that about 6 or 8 years ago.
I don't think he "stole" the design, just prob thought it was a good idea. i've ridin alexs frame and the brake is awesome!
