  1. Yeah even frame sizes vary. My 456C is 16" but has a hugely long TT so it fits fairly well with a load of seatpost sticking out, get on a mates 18" orange crush and it feels very short in the TT even though it should be bigger.

I reckon if you feel cramped on the smaller frame, give the large one a try. As you sais, if it feels to long in the TT you could run a shorter stem and sharpen up the handling a bit, move the seat forward on the rails and drop the post.

  2. I'm running Terrex Solos at the moment (with the good stealth sole, not the shit previous one) and ordered some trail cross shoes last night. The terry solos have a pretty stiff sole, they were designed as a semi climbing shoe.

  3. 16" should be fine, the med in the specialized is 17" which we decided would be a little large, and a smaller frame would probably give her a little more confidence with standover height etc.

Depends on the frame though I guess, I ride a 16" mtb which is a bit small for someone 6'1", but has a decidedly long TT and I can just run the saddle high and seems to work well.

  4. Lower leg service on revelations is piss easy Ali, if you wanted to do it yourself. Parts shouldn't be more than £20.

I got my missus a Specialized Myka, she is 5'4" but plumped for the small 15" as she was between that and a medium. WSD is much better as the top tubes are real short, she loves hers.

  5. Assuming cam belt and regular servicing on both, I'd go for the lower mileage one personally.

Should be cheaper and in theory should need less work. Cars are shit though, so either could pack up tomorrow... As I found out with that Leon.

Yeah true, it is pot luck either way. Maybe should have mentioned the 07 is the previous gen model, newer has a different engine etc.

  6. Not all of them start when they are young. My daughter started when she was 12 and is in het 3rd World Cup season now

Good for her. Fact is, no one knows the answer, we are just trying to give some possible reasons so please don't come on here and rubbish everyone's suggestions.

The fact this thread even got started means men aren't against women in trials, we are asking why there aren't so many and therefore what we can do about it so instead of dismissing ideas, sounds like you are in a good position to answer our question?

  7. Kids on the continent seem to get trained up by their parents at a pretty young age, whereas a lot of british riders tend to just learn by their own accord when they're like 13. Maybe the European riders have a higher female content as they've been started young before they can say no?

  8. Ha, I am, of course, just kidding. I guess maybe an image thing? I know strength too, but then little kids do trials who have very little strength. Probably because of threads like this and comments like mine. Mind you, some like Janine have done pretty well and Lucy who (was?) on here was pretty into it.
