  1. A little bit of tar on the back rim will make a lot of difference. Perhaps try some brake cleaner on the front disc and pads?

    Martial Arts

Been training in Wing Chun for a while now. Since 1995 anyway.
  3. Looks like a good deal to me and its in your area. You can always upgrade bits as they break or you need better performance but as an introduction to biketrials I'd say get it and start riding.
  4. There is a Hampshire Bike Trials Club so I guess you are in luck. For people in your area click on the county name (underlined) in your info box. You'll see a list of people in Hampshire.
  5. I think point E is the eutectic or eutectoid point...maybe. I'm better with steam thermodynamics to be honest. haven't looked at materials science since college days (and that was a fair long time ago).
  6. Scratching back through my memory - the diagram describes the state of the metal for a given temperature and composition. At X the lead/tin mixture is starting to solidify (as it cools). Basically follow the dotted line downwards (as the metal cools) and the metal become more and more solid until it hits line B-E where it is all solid (it doesn't all solidify at once, which is what the diagram is showing). The proportion of each of the constituents decides at what temperature these two things happen. Below the solidification line the temperature and composition will decide what structure the material forms (face centred cubic, body centred cubic etc). I'm more familiar with the iron state diagram and lead tin but the principles are the same. A represents the melting point of 100% lead E represents the temperature where solid lead/tin melts to liquid without going through a transition stage (like partial melting to form a paste). This only happens for lead/tin with the composition shown on the diagram, all others go through the paste stage. This point has a specific name but I can't remember it off hand. Googe `lead tin state diagram' Good luck.
  7. Quality. You're right - the Grifter weighed a ton. Wheelied like a demon though. Happy daze.
  8. Back to Swindon? You must have been bad...
  9. Skateboarding....I'll get me coat
  10. Look out for roadworks. You usually find a few lumps of dried tar when they've finished fixing the road. You only need a small piece. Lasts for ages.
  11. Not as much fun as removing brake caliper pistons... Hairspray works well for grips. Extra stong is best. Use the same for removing them.
  12. Some good answers (and very interesting about reach - never considered that before) - thanks to all
  13. Not really looking for an equivalent of the BT. Just wondering how it would feel compared to a BT Raven 4.0 geo. Interesting comment about reach.
  14. Looking at what to get to replace my stolen BT Raven 4.0. I've noticed a few Adamant short frames for sale. They are 1070 with 15mm BB rise according to Tartys. My BT was, I think 1090 (or maybe 1100) with +5 BB rise. I am 6ft and weight 13st. Is a short frame too small for me? And how would it feel after the BT? I always thought that the BT felt long. I rode R2WTrials Adamant A2 frame which seemed strange with the high BB rise and seemed to come up on the back wheel really quickly - is a short frame going to be like that? Advice please...
  15. It says they're exclusive to Tarty in the UK. Maybe you can get one from an overseas seller? or wait until they restock...? Tensile tensioner looks pretty good.
  16. Is that a long or short Adamant?
  17. Jeez not another one!! Hope he gets it back.
  18. The good news is that my household contents insurance says they will cover it, minus £200 excess. Not sure how to claim for the BT though - add up all the parts and its quite a cost to replace but wasn't too expensive to buy in the first place. Still leaves me bike-less until its sorted.
  19. Hello, The bikes are a Marin Wolf Ridge (2006), black with a gold Hope Pro2 rear hub. The bike has Hope M4 Mono brakes front and rear and a Hope BB. Will be muddy as I hadn't washed it BT Raven 4.0 in white with black BT06 forks, BB7 front disc and a scruffy yellow magura HS33 on the back. Tryall rim with red rim tape on the rear with a DMR revolver hub, Mavic 717 rim on the front with a silver Hope XC hub. Tensile cranks and Planet X pedals. Kona Roast. About 2001. Bronze coloured frame, Ditch Witch rims, single front chain ring, Marzocchi Bomber forms, well used and scruffy (my pub bike). If anyone sees them please let me know (07989 494258). Or call PC Damon Thorne on 0845 4087000. The incident number is 68 of 30/10/2008. Thanks. Tony
