  1. I'd go back to the ring, not until next year though! Will try and make the pub meet too.
  2. There have to be at least some man points oweing for using a VTR rather than a 1.1 though surely?
  3. They realised that by cutting some corners they could increase profits by a third! After ending up at the bottom of the JD power survey in the late 90s they've been rebuilding their reputation ever since! And seriously who compared a ST170 or lower to an RS? £25k vs maybe what 5K + mods? hardly fair. Now compare a modified mk1 Focus RS with a standard new RS, that would be fairer. I'd have the mk1 RS every time!
  4. The Merc is god awful, looks like it's still in primer.
  5. Talk about hypocritical! When will people realise that not all modified cars have been covered in glue and crashed through Halfords.
  6. Whoa, this was only 2 pages when I last looked! I've seen that 106 before, i'm sorry but 140mm spacers each side? What a tit. Who fancies a road trip? I want to see him parallel park it
  7. haha so true!! I couldn't count the number of times i've blocked the drive with my car up on stands!
  8. Depends on your outlook, if you like getting your hands dirty and don't mind spending money that you are unlikely to see again then go for it. If you are more bothered about the finished result and aren't keen on getting stuck in buy a car that has been already modified. Also make sure you're not impulsive, there's no quicker way to lose money than to modify a car then sell it on and start over. The only reason i'm ploughing money into my car is that I know i'm not going to get bored any time soon.

Sorry bit cryptic, i'll translate The 5 turbo that was on track at RWS went bang. Last year there were two cars, this year just one. Awesome beast though, it did a 360 directly in front of us on the way out of Copse.

What's shit about the 5 turbos, clio cups and megane trophys? Agreed on the single seaters though. Jarrod: You hear that the 5 turbos engine went pop? Only one this year too, used to be two.
  11. Naah, i've been riding just with very little effort and no further than town I couldn't turn my back on T-F for good, still feels like the end of an era for me though
  12. Well i've finally done it. After about 9 months of no use, and about 2 years of very little use i've sold up. A very sad day for me but it just wasn't getting used. Just wanted to say thanks to Danny and Tom for this amazing site and to all the great people i've met over the years, those few that aren't here now and those that I never got round to meeting. Bye bye trials bike! On the plus side I can finally finish off my supercharged engine build. So those that frequent the car thread will still see me about.
  13. I broke mine ages ago on a 4x track, they told me 4-6 weeks to get back to normal, i'd say at least 8-10 before you start trials again. I remember trying a pedal hop when I thought I was ok again, almost passed out with the pain, i reckon that set my recovery back a good few weeks too lol
  14. Post it up on Nomads Dan, I swear every VW in Hemel is a member!
  15. 1. Boumsong - Loughborough 2. Jardo - Basingstoke 3. Robin - Somerset 4. Tom Booth - Nottingham 5. od404 - Daventry 6. Lord Prawn - Portsmouth 7. Emperor Tipsy III - Hemelshire
  16. Fan shaft? The only way you can drive a supercharger really is via a belt or chain from the crank pulley.
  17. Gloucestershire seems like a winner, you just need to pick somewhere and go for it really. Otherwise we will all keep arguing about how far it is and rubbish fuel consumption If it's a weekend i'm free, count me in
  18. To me the Rallye's are special, very few imported and very distinctive compared to the Gti's. They also attract enthusiast owners and put off chavs because on paper they don't compare to the gtis. In reality though, there's not much in it! Oh and nice work Mr Scott! What's next on the to do list?
  19. Standard Gti 247mm brakes by the looks of things, scary with that much power. What's the spec? 350-380bhp at the fly is big ask of even a charged J4 lump.
  20. I don't know, all these Rallye's coming out of the woodwork! So much for exclusivity!
  21. Just sold a set literally yesterday lol. Check out the Rallye Register, bound to be some on there. Alternatively if you can brave the chavvyness there will definately be some on 106 Owners.
  22. Oooo very nice Mr Scott! Those rims are perfect for the S2, just suit it down to the ground.
  23. Tha main advantage of coilovers on Saxo/106's is the height adjustability other than that there's no advantage unless you are wanting to run much stiffer springs which is only necessary on a track car. For the last year i've been running Bilstein Sprintline shocks and Faulkner 155lb springs (about -35mm) and would highly recommend it as a setup for fast road/the odd trackday. I didn't notice it being too much stiffer over the bumps or too uncomfy but when you put your foot down and really hurled it into a corner the difference was amazing. Dampers are about £290ish new and springs about £70.
