Toying with the idea at the moment of getting a Sonic Trouser ? (like a sleve on your leg think thats the right term.) This might sound stupid but have you lossend (sp) the rear wheel before you try tightening them? because if you havent all you are going to do is destroy the tensioner.

Have you checked the tyre you could of damaged the bead round the edge if you have it will keep doing this over and over. Check it, if its a bit damaged/excesivly worn in an area replace the tyre.

if i remember for the long grinds there is a long ledge at the musiam/art place on one of the sides going downhill its pretty easy to get long grinds/spins etc in there.
