What.
A.
Day.
Out the door at 6AM, Mk2 decided it didn't want to start for some reason. I went to take the Panda, started running inside and the hazards started flashing.
We all know I'm a bit of a weirdo, so I saw this as the car trying to tell me that it had thought about it, and it really did want to go. So I gave it one last try and it jumped straight into life. Broom.
Met up with Azarathal (I think? Lets just say Mr MR2) at Cherwell, had a burger king breakfast. Actually not that bad.
Got to Curby.
I raised the sunroof for extra downforce, and took Kennard out for a go.
Scrub scrub scrub, no brakes, scrub scrub scrub.
So I raised it up a bit.
And bled the brakes manually. They didn't get any better.
I did find this CV joint which is in concourse condition though.
Suspension still scrubbed. Not cool.
Disheartened I took Adams MX5 out and abused it, first as a passenger.
Feeling a bit mean I gave him the keys to my car. He's a good judge of character, and knows his cars. So obviously he thinks it's a bit shit, because it is.
Looked cool though.
Then I took it out for a thrash, what a kickass car that really is!
That took us to lunch time, and due to me messing about and not really doing anything the timing board didn't have a time next to my name. This angered me.
So I raised it up some more and went out for round two with no brakes.
And set a 1.05.million second standing start double lap.
Respectable I guess, something like 32 seconds on a flying lap on conventional timing, not bad. But still not great.
Brakes didn't work, at all.
Car was throwing wobbly's and not boosting, and the engine was cutting out at what. So I parked it up for an hour and went with Kennard to buy an Eezibleed and brake fluid, he dropped off his wheel at a local repair place because he'd got a puncture.
Came back, super bled the brakes with fresh fluid. Still no better, in fact even worse. So the master cylinder or servo is clearly knackered. Oh well, brake upgrades was on my list of things to do any who.
It started behaving itself again then and running right, because it knew it was gonna' get f**ked up if it didn't.
So I took it out brakeless.
This improved things. No brakes it good.
I decided I was trying too hard, so I just coasted round in third for most of the track. This improved things further.
I took it out a fair few times after that, but couldn't really improve on that time and felt as though I was mindlessly chasing a figure that only meant something to me, and it meant more to go back home in a working car than not.
So I went and had a go in Haz's Clio. Good fun car that! Really enjoyed driving it.
Then I had a go in the MR2. Also a very fun car.
All day people had been annihilating Tarty's MX5, bless it. And everybody had a little time under their names with their MX5 time. And at the bottom of the board I think Robin had posted the top time of something like 106.4 of a similar number?
So I set to achieve my target in somebody else's car to make myself better.
Did a 104. something. Bloody loved driving the MX5, it's awesome! I kind of want one
After that I was aggravated that Dann56890678765434567 was only something silly like 0.3 seconds quicker than me. So I went to go and kick the Golf into life.
It wouldn't start.
Again, I saw this as it basically telling me to f**k off. Because without touching anything other than the door handle it fired straight up 5 minutes later when I'd decided I wasn't going to go out again.
So I left it be.
Anyway, enough about me and my bollocks.
It was fantastic to meet everyone, great to see familiar faces and friends I haven't seen for ages again, it was mega LOL's to see Robin in the 406 Estate. The Volvo was beautiful. Leon's were Leons. Mike was probably top improver of the day.
It pains me to say this, because as you know I hate everyone. But Dann1234567890987654321ยง123456787654321 actually really impressed me today, a bit unrefined but for his first time on a track he was absolutely mega. So hats off to you Dann56789987654323456789876543 because you did a good job today.
Thanks Adam, Luke and everyone else who had a hand in the setup. It was just as well run if not better than any day I've ever been on.
Oh yeah, and I spun quite hilariously on the straight attempting to brake but only actually braking one wheel. It was mega lols, not caught on camera and isn't really describable. So if you were there, thanks for sharing that moment with me.
PICS! NAOW!!!!
Here's some self gratifying pictures of my own car that I took today.
Tricked you, there's only one.
f**k off all of you.
I did two and a half full tanks today. A tank getting there, half a tank on track and a tank getting back.
