  1. KMC 710 for wide or narrow cogs, KMC 810 for narrow cogs only. I dont see the use of Wippermann G1. This shit weights 800g or more by the looks.
  2. I would build some cool wooden boxes. 12mm plywood.....They are strong and look tidy and inspirational(I dont like pallets). Have you seen some vids from Czettele Peter from hungary where there is a trials park in front of some mall. Pink cubes(previously orange). I and my crew built 90 cubes in different sizes to organize comps in Estonia. For constant outdoor abuse we will cover them with carpets to provide grip for tyre in pouring rain. THough they grip pretty good....better than cars(disaster). So I didnt read the whole post and maybe your hands are growing out of your arse but if you want something safe, lasting and cool to ride on ----> build boxes(triangles, prismas etc)
  3. If I was to get a mod which I dont I would give Kamel a try. To be different
  4. If you feel not confident with this procedure, use search for detail instructions or ask a capable friend! CK rules!
  5. Hey! You must get rid of that thick king lube inside. And relube it with much thinner oil(like finish line wet lube). But this has already been told hundreds of times here im sure.
  6. Hi! I ride 26" inch trials since 2002 and this is what I have found from experience and from videos. Most mod riders land sidehop to both wheels or even rear slightly first. MOst stock(hehe) riders land their sides to front wheel and rear follows. This tells me that short bikes riders tend to land both wheel together. Riders with long low bikes land mostly front wheel first. One must find that which is more natural to perform. I have seen over 120cm cleared by vince and giaco in a vid. Different techiques. I remember also how TRA landed to both wheels sideways something in his first vids. Now he does sidehops to front more often(90deg ledges)....
  7. I think it it even easier to judge the distance in trials than in basketball. For me at least. I hate ball games except soccer. I have this fear that I would broke my finger against ball. Trial in contrary is one of the most safe sports I now. It RULES! In case of landing on a rail you must be sure, that you can perform the same distance on a curb. On a curb one can save the move because the sharp and super grippy surface. Rails are slippy because they are polished metal SO that's it.
  8. I have ridden trials 6 years and this is what I have found out. Get pisspot style dirt helmet. It saved my life once. Wearing MTB style helmet which have less sideprotection would have get my head smashed open(nasty). Wear gloves if you are serious about riding hot, sweaty, big trials. Your hands WILL become sweaty and that makes them lose a lot of grip. Get the thinnest, most stretchy fullfingers you can get. DH cloves with extreme protection are unnecessary. If you want to get style points, wear jeans if its windy or cold but get STRETCH JEANS! They are avalable for men and I swear by them. Good protection if you hate shinpads and they look cool. Not TOO sweaty either. Or wear shorts. I dont like shorts personally for looks. If its hot, ride topless and get nice tan. If its cold, wear thermo layer undershirt and/or something thicker but it must be well breathing and quick drying. For feet. Get trials shoes. Ribo, Monty and old tryall are nice. Tryall SOle B-s are too bulcky in my opinion. I rode skate shoes for 3 years but then I got very thin casual shoes that have real leather top and very very thin black gum sole. They are very very flexible if you feel them by hand and they wrap around pedal for ultra good feel and grip. My riding got 50% better with really thin soles. I hate skate shoes for anything but chilling around. If you wear strong glasses, get lenses for riding. Thats about it!
  9. In Estonia we have more issues with cromo street forks than with alu deng forks. My point is: get normal trials fork and be smooth. They aare not that weak. Some cromo forks are 1,5kg but bend fast.
  10. You could use search in full member forum or in www.observedtrials.net Useful.
  11. If you have used to big fat motorbike then get 26". If you want to ride modern euro UCI style big move trials get really trials-specific seatless singlespeed 1065-1085cm wheelbase bike. If you want to ride not so seriously but to do addiotional training for your main sport(moto) then you can get away with less specialist trialbike: have seat, more like jumpbike geo, wheelbase 1030-1065, gears. A little modified MTB I say. Get your son to make you meet his friends and try their bikes! And welcome to the sport! trial=life
  12. http://fotoalbum.ee/photos/Hurin/sets/229379 Kot MS2, paint removed and now has white rimtape(nice)
  13. You live in UK so why not attend to big groupride and try them out yourself? If my current frame Kot eventually gets cracked I shall go to other town to ride peoples bikes to check geo before I buy.
  14. He said member! huh..huhu..huhuhu...hu...
