can i join in? please?? nice crack steve.... ive told you before, us mere morals arnt ment to be bumping over 4ft!!!! its just not right you have been punichsed for this tomfoolery!
-
god dammit can nobody else see that the new bt forks are just echo pure forks??? the same as the bt forks released last year? peggs has a set of his raven 5, and while theyre nice, just like pure forks, theyre a touch flexy and bloody long!!!! and yes.... the bottom the the steerer does look like a bumhole :S bigman-get a newer set of fatties, you cant go wrong! im changing my urbans for fatties this week

it may feel good, but its never going to have the same power as a louise lever.... if u want that hs33 feel just get an old 2k louise lever and put an hs33 lever blade into it!
-
what do you mean by 'on the back end'? do you mean does the rear section of the frame feel heavy? or do u mean on the backwheel if u mean the rear section of the frame-then its pretty chunky yes, but also insanely stiff! dont forgot most of the back end weight is in your rear wheel and tyre.... if u mean on the backwheel, then no, it feels awesome! could be a bad choice of bar n stem.... or excessivly heavy front tyre....

i cant say about the blue pads, but ive got a set of the greens and im very impressed so far unlike all the other pads lately ive used them for 3 rides now and no measurable wear so far (around 0.1mm) ive been measuring them on my digital callipers after each ride.... theyre not massively loud, but incredibly powerful. the noise could be due to flex issues.... as ive not had a loud brake for months and months, pretty much sinse i got an xtr brake booster.... id also suggest giving the rim a fresh grind with new pads, that way it can all settle down together.... if youve been using hard pads before, the depth of the grind may still be there, but the sharpness is likely to be gone

basicly, due the the relatively small movment of a disc brake piston compared to an hs33, disc levers have much much smaller master pistons, the hs33 lever has a 14mm piston, which will displace far more fluid, but for a given force on the lever, will put far less pressure on the disc.... think about it, stab yourself with a tin of beans, then with a pencil, both with the same force.... due to the larger area of the bean tin, it wont hurt, the pencil has a far smaller area so for the same force itll apply much more pressure.... been there, done that hs33 levers on discs give possibly the stiffest feeling brake imaginable, but almost no power whatsoever!

sorry matey... but its nothing to do with money at all! ive been using magurs for over 4 years.... and ive spent the last 2 years using nothing but water, and i dont ever intend on going back to mineral oil! its not about money, its about feel! a brake bled with water has a much lighter lever action, and generally a much more positive feel as it hits the rim, its also faster returning giving it a snappy feel. in the 2 years ive run water in brakes ive not had a single leaking issue. the only issue i had was when i first did it, after about 9 months of leak free braking, the lever action slowed down a touch due to the remains of the oil from the old fluid emulsifying with the water to form a sludge :- once cleaned out it was fine! i now run a very weak mix of water and antifreeze, as unlike water it is a lubricant (Y) so keeps things smoother for longer :)

please dont be so stupid.... maguras are a closed system, it CANT evaporate inside a closed system :S:S:S it CAN heat up and expand, giving a tighter feeling brake, but in 2 years of using water ive never noticed this at all.... biff: your method is highly commonsensical if thats a word.... but probably a little over the top!!! i take great care with my bleeds and i can assure you there is no air in my brake.... to check if u have air free brakes, place a finger on each brake pad and pull the lever with the other hand. if the bleed is perfect the pads will move the INSTANT the lever is touched.... you will find most levers move a fraction before the pads move.... thats the air in the system

great pics al, im loving the second one myself.... really plain and simple, it looks great! who took the photos? hows bens riding? we saw him on friday night when we were out, but not much sense was spoken.... if you people want a vid ill take my cam next time i go riding with al (Y) hows next saturday sound to u al? 21st? oh-well done scruff for backwheeling that bollard, if u had said u could do that a month ago i would have laughed so hard :S the new bike/bars are doing u a lot of good!

oh right :S cheers ad, its not 'noticably' thinner in a kind of 'oh look, this ones thicker!' way, but looking at them now, you are right :D

i had a set of gold answer pro taper bars stripped and reannodised black a few years ago, only cost me a tenner and took them 3 days! they told me that basicly, if you can strip it down to alu ONLY, (all other materials such as steel ratchets and things MUST be removed) its just a simple case of dipping it, and is easy as pie!

hate to tell you mate but the 3 dx cogs ive had have been NO different in thickness to the standard shitmano hg70 cassette cogs.... i just run an hg70 cassette cog, as im sure most people do....

oh dear oh dear oh dear.... the frenchman strikes again.... what more can i say? this boy has silver fingers..... cant polish a turd? im sure he could try....

this thread is annoying me.... tell me if im wrong.... please do but my avid was utterly shite from day 1 i CAN honestly say that the power was quite frankly incredible, ive never had such a powerful and grabby disc brake, and i loved that power with all my hear and soul.... but, fromt brand new, it faded terribly!!!! it was so bad to the point that i couldnt ride down hills at all, locking up it was perfect, but the slightest hint of a downhill slope and the need to slow down had it packing!!!! literally, if i rode down a shallow gradient hill for about 100 yards and attempted to stop, that would be all my bite and power gone for at least 20minutes (Y):S:S this has been the same with every avid ive used, the fade is just terrible :D surely it must be the pad compound... yet bigmans did it with aztec pads as well as avids :D:S:S lame lame lame. ive ridden a 160mono trial and it was really VERY good, and bigmans 180 mono trial.... well need i say more? 180 mono trial does it for me (Y) all the power and bite of the avid, with the added bonus of being able to slow down!

thats what i was practising on last time i was in barnstaple, we put a pallet upirhgt against a loading bay , with the bottom of the pallet set about 12'' out from the base of the bay after a few minutes we were hooking that to back wheel no problem, but take the pallet away, and we just smash into the wall and go nowhere

hahahaha this is comical :P i must ask one thing.... why is it that there are no scores for gary sanderson again? this happened last year??? has he gone and taken the card home with him instead of handing it in again??? silly bugger!
-
weeeeheyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! top scores :P really good comp matt, bigmans going to be rather annoyed though.... tehehe big respect to rich for caring on riding after having his arse invaded by a savage looking rock! and well done to dan for managing to find the only two rocks at the venue perfectly formed for trapping his foot!!!! top day out see you all in june

just a little response from synergy given to me through msn-he added me to say thanks for my support-what a nice validation worthy chap. nice bloke

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! i spent ages reading all that, all fired up to reply, only to find its been closed. as a full member, and one whos been here sinse the beginning when trials forum was the message board of tenby trials all those years ago.... i think its disgraceful how members have had a go at synergy. the guy has a VERY valid point and i think its one of the best topics ive seen posted in nmc. it is very true that we shouldnt be allowed to get away with these things.... im a senior member, so i dont even have a warning bar. if im honest, as u will notice, i dont always type properly, and ive gotten into my fair share of arguements and made my fair share of totally pointless posts... who hasnt? that said, i dont think a new member, (who is obviously far more concerned about his typing, and the way he comes across in this most inpersonal of places) should be put down for raising such a valid point!! we all know dave spams :P but thats just dave, hes never going to go away, hes a complete retart to talk to on msn, seemingly imcapable of more than 6 words at a time... but infact, hes actually a bloody nice chap (Y) corish: if ur reading this, i think u were BANG OUT of line with your attack that, was totally unnecassary! as was that!!!! give him a break!!! hes obviously an intelligent chap to bring up the subject in the first place, and as soon as i click 'add reply' in this topic ill be going striaght into SM chat to nominate him to be validated! rant over *runs off to sm chat for a bit if nomination* EDIT: done

i dont think so matey.... when u start doing really big front touches its no longer a glance, but more of a full on flat out twat into the wall hard and low down! pierre was watching me the other day, and he said the amount my forks flexed backwards as i hit the well was obscene! ive just spent 20mins looking for a pic of vincent hermance.... but i cant find it.... its kicking around somewhere, him touching a wall close on 5ft tall, his works have flexed back about 4''!!!!! hooks and taps kill forks for sure
-
great point ad!!!! i havnt thought about that.... its true about the 'cold welding' as u put it though, its what happens in seatposts on steel frames.... also happens to several things on my car!!!
-
as great as helicals are.... i dont understand why they dont come out more often.... i know its stretched out as u wind it in, and threads shouldnt be stiff.... but we all know that aluminium and steel (not sure about stainless) undergo electrolysis and stick together in things like seatposts in steel frames.... so why dont tehy simply unscrew out with the bolts more often?
-
haha im not claiming to know more about your car than you do.... im jsut saying that for the given spec, the figues you have been told are very unlikely.... i wont deny that with that spec (very similar to mine) the car will be very nippy and awesome fun to drive! especially with the metro 3.44 final drive. im simply saying that i think your rolling road operator has fiddled the figures a touch.... at the end of the day who cares about bhp and top speed figures.... a std mini 1000 will show most cars on the road up given a tight country lane!
-
i still dont believe that at all. i know very well the mg engines were quicker, as ive said, mgs were 73bhp at the flywheel, austin metros were 63bhp (difference is the cam and higher compression ratio on SOME mg engines, mainly the 12hd and 12hf engines which had a 10:1 comp ratio instead of 9.5/9.75:1)), 1275gt's were 57bhp. its not as if the mg cam could ever be described as hot.... it falls somewhere around/just below a kent 266 all those figures are at the flywheel. to make 70 at the wheels your standard little 1275 motor would ahve to be pushing out almost 90bhp at the flywheel, which is the figure john cooper get when they fit a stage 3 head, 1.5:1 roller tip rockers, full exhaust system, induction kit and a new throttle body to an MPI mini.... your head would have to hav a LOT of work(in the region of £400's worth!) to have any hope in hell of making that power figure. im sorry, but it cant be 70 at the wheels. ive got an mg 1275 myself in my mini, with a £400 stage 3 head, full maniflow exhaust system, mg electronic ignition, hif44 carb with K&N filter, 2 core rad, lucas gold coil, split fire plugs.... etc etc and it made 82bhp at the flywheel on the rollers, which was 60 at the wheels. my engine is runs perfectly and 82bhp from that spec is awesome!!!! i seriously doubt your lower specced engine is going to make almost another 10 bhp.... EDIT: there is one option.... many rolling roads are inaccurate.... and many operators fiddle them to give higher readouts than they should... it makes sense. if u take your car to one garage and they tune it and tell u it has 100bhp, then the next time u gt it tuned u go somewhere else and they say it has 120bhp.... your always going to think the one who got the highest figure is the better garage!!!! so im not going to dispute the 70bhp figure u were given, but i will dispute that its true!

the venue was awesome!!!!! but once again the scores were hiked up a fiar bit by the weather.... the course was set out in anticipation of an awesome summers day!!!! yet it was tipping it down when we arrived!!!! so.... as you can imagine, things were pretty savage while it was wet, but after lunch (yes-we're lazy) the wind dried things up the 2nd lap scores were generally less than half the 1st lap scores.... i hear inter was a pretty good battle for 2nd/3rd place between bigman and tom whiteley, red route had LOADS of riders this time with a total of 10 riders this time around!!!! final scores havnt all been worked out yet.... so were going to hav to wait and see who won  :) :D awesome comp though!
