  1. i got my paint from a place called Hex Holdings, they are a nation wide chain of paint suppliers i think, i know there are quite a few around the country anyway! do a search on google for them..... rumour has it that you wont be able to buy any celly or 2pac paints after the end of next year (Y) as apprently due to legislation from the EU, all paints will ahve to be water based which means only body shops will be able to spray cars, as water based doesnt dry without special equipment :) gay gay gay.... and cheers Haz-the mini is rather sexy.... even more so now that ive got the full front cage in with door bars and everything :deej:
  2. Yes boothy, it is possible to do it yourself, but you need a LOT of time, and dont you dare think its a cheap option.... i resprayed my mini myself, starting just over 361 days ago (26th of oct last year) initially we reckoned on borrowing the tools and kit, and it costing me around £200 for materials and paint. (this was for an exterior spray ONLY mind you.... in the end it cost me the best part of £1500 (NOT including the £400 compressor and £80 spray gun we bought) in paints, materials, new panels, and new brightwork to match the new image. it took almost 3 months to complete, working for around 4-5 hours 6 days a week after school and weekends. the prep took the longest! welding up the new panels, and smoothing and filling everything to make the shell perfect, we took most of the shell back to bare metal and etch primed it, we fitted a carbon fibre flip front at the same time and had to line everything up for that and re-wire the whole of the front loom to suit! 10 months after leaving my mates garage its still looking great after a good polish, and theres no rust or imperfections showing through anywhere (apart from inside the roof gutter on one side where we ran out of paint!). it was a VERY expensive job, the cars had almost 4 litres of red red cellulose paint, along with 2 litres of etch primer and 3 litres of celly primer, which at £15-£30 a litre aint cheap! it worth it though.... as the cars proper sexy now :) and im able to blow bits in should i ever need to respray a panel.... or change my wheel arches or something of the sort.... _________________________________________________________________________________________ at the other end of the scale, i know of a guy who decided he didnt like his mini being red anymore, so went to halfords and bought 4 cans of matt black paint and a kitchen scouring pad. he washed the whole car really well, spent an hour rubbing it down with the kitchen sanding pad, shut the doors, masked off the glass, and expended said 4 cans of matt black on his gorgeous mini.... god knows how, but it looks AWESOME (Y) moral of this story is.... its a LOT of money, and a LOT of man hours to do with job properly.... its all in the prep though.... 99% is prep! because if the shell is perfect, and enough top coat goes on, it can be polished up to a perfect finish (with celly that is) oh, and black is THE worse colour to spray, because it shows up all the imperfections SO much-more than any other pretty much!
  3. ello lads! i see no reason wh6y i wont be there! so with any luck.... ill see you all next sunday! are trains to/from portsmouth pretty regular? anyone else from portsmouth going? just had a check on the trains.... theres one leaving portsmouth at 0942, gets into southampton at 1040, next one is an hour later! which is too late appears to only be about £7.50 return as well! result! see you all there....
  4. AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 GET OUT OF MY CITY YOU BASTARDS!!!! why has NO ONE from north of exeter ever come to plymouth in the last 4 years ive been riding there? then 3 weeks after i go away all you bastards come down :ermm: and force me to look at the pics whilst sat in my room staring at the rain which seems to be a pretty permanent feature in portsmouth!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 i am NO happy B) i want to ride B) looks like a typical plymouth ride.... start at copthorn-then it rains-spend day on the seafront
  5. agree with mark.... i generally dent my frame riding natural.... if i dent it at all that is.... ive not dented in frame in yonks! BUGGER STEVE"!!!!! it was about time it went.... that frames been on the edge for a while now IMO! whatr you gettin next? from the random phone call i just had with peggs i thought he said onza limey.... but couldnt make it out.... do tell dear chap? whats next for stevo? how will you ever live without the XTP? that frame DEFINED you!!!!
  6. of all the places ive been to over the last 4 years.... nothing has yet come close to plymouth.... the awesome thing about plymouth, is that because it was bombed during the war, it was rebuilt in a 'grid' format to make it quick and easy.... this made the city look ugly and shit, so they FILLED the entire city centre with walls/fountains/flowerbeds EVERYWHERE! almost ALL the trials in plymouth is contained in 1 strip, around 100yards wide and almost 2 miles long.... ranging from the copthorn hotel just as you stp off the train, right down through the city centre for awesome street, then heading on up to the hoe for some pretty sweet natural down on the seafront! its a beast of a place.... just a shame im in portsmouth for this rather large sounding ride
  7. ello lads! i cant make it today as hannah has come up from plymouth.... but andy said that you were probably staying through till thursday? be this true? if so ill probably be out most nights this week! if ur staying around PM me and ill give you a call or something!
  8. mate, if shes a chav bitch, shes as good as bloke as far as im concerned!!!! if anyone came CLOSE to my misses id f**king punch them in the face.... and if anyone touched her then god fu<king help them¬.... shes mine (Y) and thats final¬! kick her in the teeth and shove a cucumber up her arsehole.... that'll teach the silly bint!
  9. or just dont get a tigra at all (Y):D:D from what ive been told they aint too nice"! all the irritating impracticallity of a 2 seater with NONE of the benefits.... plus theyre ugly as sin!!!!! get something small, crap, and slow for your first year! after that, its your call
  10. ive never really done em up super tight andy.... ive not really thought about that to be honest! i dont THINK the stem has any welds.... unless they have been super smoothed off afterwards.... but i doubt it! SMO i wish id read that last night! then i could be riding atm.... ah well thanks anyway guys! i need a new stem!
  11. Grrrrrrrrrr........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 the b*****d thing has done me good service i 'guess' tehehehehehe (Y) its a guess roady stem, which is apparently the same as the echo stems.... never snapped a stem before in my life.... lucky it went when it did, as 20mins before i was eyeing up a rather large drop! only to be put off by mega winds! THANK CHRIST.... hopefully some nice chap will find a stem for me by tomorow.... we will have to see though :P
  12. sorry lads, the hosting appears to have died! im getting it hosted tomorow by a mate, ill give you the new links then!
  13. haha this is kid anything but normal :) he belongs in an establishment.... only thing is, im not yet sure which!
  14. cheers for all the comments lads! tuppers.... stop being a fool! whats the point in a sequential box? first you need a car to stick it in.... and then, you need an engine worthy of turning such an almighty box.... ive got a 'plain' (if ever thats a word that can be used in this context) Jack Knight 4spd 4sync SCCR box, with jack knight drops, and a jack knight X-pin diff, and its beyond sexy! the noise, and performance is astounding! you simply cant beat it.... and lets face it.... you dont NEED a sequential box at all.... miglias dont use them.... a dog more than suits the needs of ANY racer, and unless its an all out racer, you dont NEED a dog box.... so the thought of putting an MBE sequential box in your body kitted metro is akin to fitting nitrous oxide injection to your mums toaster
  15. its not my fault you cant drive andy....... and i did offer you a ride in the beast, TWICE!!!! but you failed to show up :P methinx that was most definately your loss! get the clip above these two posts ^^^
  16. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P32D0SAK just a little clip of me going through folly, 3rd gear as i approach, change into 4th a ton and scream up the hill at around 110.... i think it sounds sexy....
  17. tic ur a miserable git :P -but yes, all the hard work and effort is REALLY paying off now cheers lads, it was an awesome day to say the least.... i couldnt believe how well the car did.... considering the things that turn up to trackdays, i got overtaken once during my two sessions, and overtook a total of 14 cars in the 12 laps i did.... so the mini aint too slow.... showing up a few of the national championship (extreme mighty minis) race cars was certainly a highlight! best thing of all though, was definately overtaking a new Cooper S works and leaving it for dead! after that theres a whole new round of engine mods to be done, so after christmas i can see my student loan taking a fair dent! being on dialup theres no danger of the longer vid just now.... but i start uni on monday! so ill stick it up then when i finally get my own broadband for the first time ever! byeeeeeeeee
  18. hey guys! long time no posting for me.... as always, ive been rather busy with everything going on getting ready to go away to uni.... i did however find time to do a little work on the mini.... then go and thrash it to see what its all about! its not sporting a facet redtop electronic fuel pump, along with few other electrical goodies such as a kenlowe fan, and the nicest bit of all, ive fitted my front cage! so ive now got a full FIA 6pt cage with door bars as well! took the beast up to castle combe for a track day on saturday, and it was geninely the most incredible thing ive ever done! the rush of driving on a track again 5 years after i stopped racing, was incredible! nobody is going to want to see the whole 12mins of incar footage from one of my sessions, but one bit i think is great to watch is this tiny clip! comming along the main straight (well-least bit of curved road!) at around 105mph at the top of the hill, braked down to 90 for quarry, when the back end let go! as you can see it got pretty close :P i thought i was in for a spin for sure.... anyway.... just wanted to post this clip as i think its awesome to watch! enjoy!http://www33.megaupload.com/files/47913701...c1/ohps.....wmv if that link doesnt work, try this page http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SIC4NMB6
  19. or..... stop being a penis.... get yourself a 1275 metro motor ( sub £100) stick in a 2.95 or 2.76:1 final drive in it.... and cruise happily all day at 80mph whilst still returning over 40mpg! and keeping a mini! which will not only be FAR quicker than ur current 998, but cruise nicely! job done (Y)
  20. looking at the pic in the first post, if thats an exhaust component, id say its the gasket that will most likely go between the manifold and the downpipe.... and bucky, running with no gasket CAN and WILL damage your engine.... depending on where you leave the gasket out! if you miss out a gasket on the inlet manifold, then its going to suck in air, thus seriously leaning off the mixture, which we all know will lead to burnt out valves and things getting seriously hot.... not good! if you leave out the exhaust gasket where the manifold meets the head, the blow will eventually worsen, and burn the face of the head.... so next time round, it wont seal properly! then you will need to take the head off and have it faced! both the above could be considered a f**ked engine to your average car owner....
  21. currently scanning minispares.... ive had a thought.... BUGGER! i was hoping, that the estate/van link pipe would be straight, and the side exit kink would be on the rear back, but looking in this pic http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=38079 it would appear that the link pipe has the kink.... obviously your going to need a stage 1 kit.... and a decent LCB manifold.... although i would seriously suggest you DONT get a real stage 1 kit, and buy the parts seperately, as there are very few stg 1 kits that use decent quality bits! a way around your problem, would be to buy yourself an 1 3/4'' saloon system, with your desired large bore centre exit tail pipe.... and also a straight through, 1 7/8ths link pipe.... cut the link pipe, leaving a section around 18'' long. leave one end untouched, but cut 4 slots into the other end, around 4'' deep each. slide the normal end onto your LCB's Y piece and clamp up as normal. then, using LOTS of fire gum, and " clamps, facing opposite each other, slide the end of your 1 3/4'' system INSIDE the 1 7/8ths pipe, and clamp it up at the desired length the slots will allow the larger pipe to close around the smaller, and if you have a good amount of fire gum in there, and dont squish it out of round, it will give you a perfect seal and you will be able to choose what length exhaust you want! all for about an extra £14 over the saloon system-get the saloon system you want, and a mild steel (none of this stainless rubbish!) link pipe is around £14! alternatively, just do it the other way round if you decide to go for a 1 7/8ths system, using the 1 3/4 pipe form the y piece! either way.... if you want something a bit more permentent, get the two link pipes, set the length, and weld it around! job done! either way andy, theres not really any more than an extra 30mins work over fitting any other exhaust! just make sure you dont drill into your fuel tank when fitting the back box :) youll need to put two new holes in the subby :)
  22. 250bhp, quick as shit.... but its still a vauxhall (Y) tehehe only joking. as far as astras go the mk1 and 2 are awesome cars! mk3 onwards lost the plot IMO. a mate of mines got a mk2 with a 2lt red top XE and a 1.8 GTE box. its had a few subtle mods, and he claims its putting out around 160bhp.... but FOOK ME! its certainly quick, its got big tyres on 15'' rims, and on the straights it goes like shit! very revvy too! while they may not look out of this world, vauxhall make some BLOODY GOOD engines.... nice car! not keen on the silver one.... far too modern and electronic for my liking.... but i bet that shifts too!
  23. hahahaha on the subject of oil burners.... i came up behind my old driving instructor the other day, in his 2.0 HDI 307 we were on the twisty roads near my house, and after passing through a 40zone, he floored it and tried to lose me, i didnt want to overtake, but just stuck on his bumper the whole way! the best bit, was following him down a straight doing 110, i was waving to him grinning! soon after that he turned off and i stopped for fuel. when i got back from paying for the fuel i had a text on my phone from him, it said: 'what the f**k just happened? its a mini!' needless to say he was a touch shocked
  24. well john, my advice is to find about where the circuits near you are, there must be several up in your part of the world! call them up, and ask for a list of fixtures! there will be many car specific days, along with 'run what you brung' type days open to anyone! i know combe will send a free brochure and fixtures list to anyone who calls up and asks! for example, at the miniworld action day at castle combe, 15mins of track time costs you £25 although i wouldnt reccomend combe for you, as its probably MILES away, and its a pretty fast circuit! as for air strips, its a case of find them, find out of they have restricted access, and go drive if tehy dont! i know for a fact that the topgear test track isnt restricted, a mate of mine at plymouth uni lives in guilford, 5 mins from the studios, and says he has been on the TG track MANY times, you can just drive on and do what you like! as regards equipment, the regs for castle combe state that you must wear a helmet (which you can rent at the track) and must have full length trousers and shirts. and your cars exhaust must not exceed 105DB (could be at 5000rpm-not sure about that one)! not that many will.... ask around, even look in yellow pages!
