  1. Any pictures of berry cliff ? I can't think if iv been there before

I'm going up there today Dave to have a good look round so I'll try and get some photos.

Its a steady venue and I would say two or three elite sections may be a bit tame but hopefully the other 5 or 6 will make up for it.

Presume you will be at Shipley tomorrow?

what help would be required? :)

Helping setting sections out, help with signing on, getting full quota of observers, telling observers when its finished, collecting all flags and section markers in and putting them all away, ensuring venue left tidy.

Any help with these would be good cheers.

  2. Just curious, whos his idol for riding and whatnot? who inspires him?

He has looked up to many riders over the last few years but currently he likes watching Vasek Kolar and Abel.

He also loves the oppurtunity to go practicing with Jack Carthy.

He was born onto a trials family and attended his first motorbike trial when he was only 2 weeks old, since then hes been to hundreds of trials and spent many hours pushing a plastic tricycle round international paddocks at world motorbike trials. Its in his blood.

  3. As some of you will have noticed there are 4 Tyke Trials taking place this year in the Sheffield / Derbyshire area in addition to the normal events held in West Yorkshire.

My wife and I have been thinking about running some events for a while now and thanks to the agreement from Barbara and the rest of the Tyke Trial club we will run 4 events this year under their banner.

The 1st event will be held at Berrycliffe Quarry near Elton in 4 weeks time on the 10th March.

It would be great to see the all normal Tyke riders there but also some new ones from the local area or those further south who think the journey to the normal venues is just that bit too far.

Anybody wanting to give us a hand with the organisation would be gratefully appreciated.

The other dates / venues in the area are -

19th May Dudwood Farm, Nr Bakewell

18th August Gibralter Rocks, Nr High Bradfield, Sheffield

27th October Bracken Rocks, Nr Matlock

Please note that all these venues are private land and no one must go practicing at them unless they have the landowners permission.

  4. Adam is running a CC on his practice bike and it seems to be good.

He has Monty pro race front and rear on his comp bike but hasn't used it much so far. They are really light and do grip well. Can't comment on wear rate of the rear yet but he ran a front pro race for 6 months last year and its great.

  5. Hi Robin,

If TJ and Aaron are riding in Expert next year and I dont know if Charlie or Adam are moving up but I see Charlies name at Expert at club level, and there is always enough 26" wheel expert then perhaps there may be? If these (regular attending) four are in 20" expert with perhaps some others, then can it be looked at again medal wise as I think that would give these YOUNG 12 to 15 years old lads a good reason to ride all year. Just a medal at the end of the day means alot as has been stated.

Problem is Kev that the older Red riders want to be challenged more with some large moves and Adam and Charlie aren't physically big enough, plus red is full UCI rules where cadet is BIU. See how they go over the winter with practice. Adams not 11 until February so if he's already on Red at that age there is not a lot to aim at. The decision at the meeting was to try and toughen up the sections a bit as Red, blue, green have all become a bit easy.

  6. I can understand why they have done this, in this years event's some of the categories did not have 3 or more people in them and they obviously want to make it so that those individuals in that situation actually have some competition, it's not as fun if you go out and know you have a medal before you start now is it ;)

At least I believe this is the reason.

Yes your correct. There wasn't enough entries in the 20" class to get a full podium and 11 classes at each event was a bit much.

But there will still be an overall championship at the end of the year for 20" & 26".

  7. I read somewhere the centre of Great Britain is actually in Lancashire. So that makes the rounds a good spread. The nearest round to the centre is Shipley. So there 3 north of there and three south. Unfortunateley it's never going to suit everyone and it all comes down to where you live. Me and the wife did 20 years I British championship sidecar trials and every event apart from 1 per year was south for us.
