Just wondering, I'm on O2 contract with an iphone and have unlimited internet. When I upgrade to an iphone 4 in a few months, would they make me change my plan as well? You should be able to take a bike apart and put it back together in 7/8 months... And only cut the steerer if you really need to. If you change frames later you might find the steerer tube is too short and not much for the stem to clamp onto. Cut it with a hack saw, or grind off however much you need.

I'm pretty sure I was there when simps did that backwheel, at the law court wall yes? I thought it died ages ago haha but seems it lasted a bit longer that I expected!. EDIT: Was going to go off on one... Baaaasically, why are companies making all these light weight frames when more riders ride street? (I have no prove but I'm sure most would agree). And which silly person decided to make light weight frames for street... All the companies need to sort some things out.
