I see this a lot for various riders and don't quite get it. At the end of the day, surely that's what pays his bills? He is riding for them as a marketing tool, like any sponsored athlete. I see zero issue with it as at the end of the day his sponsors are bike companies and are relevant. If he did a whole edit for a herbal tea brand or cat food then I fully understand the frustration. I've definitely seen sponsor promo crowbarred in waaaaay worse, definitely within trials.

That said, I'm definitely not saying that it wouldn't be great to see an Akrigg video for the sake of a video, like him back on a trials bike again. The same does for Danny Mac. Obviously every one of his videos are pretty grand scale and the funding has to come from sponsor deals and promo, but it would be nice to just see him on the street for something along the lines of a Clean video, but that's not likely to happen any time soon :P

That aside, I loved the video. The bike only accentuated his moto style so it's a winner for me :)

    His lockdown series?

This is pretty clearly an add for his sponsors.

I'm going to march into Sainsbury's ask for help, then say that when they offer it.

It's his job, what's he supposed to do? ride his bike behind closed doors?

Saw this thread being revived somewhat. Some interesting and quality machines being mentioned here!

My pick would be: Danny Mac's Mk1 Inspired Fourplay - early production white one with the Tioga rims and black forks, blue Hope hubs. If i remember rightly he was running Easton carbon bars? The Monkey DH ones?

Ali C's prototype Arcade as has been mentioned before with the silver rims from Clean 002. On a similar note, Mark Westlake's stealthy brakeless example from the same video.

Also from Ali's bike history - the British Racing Green Hex he rode brakeless. This one (not a very good representation of the colour rightly enough!) Also looks like he drilled an old Mavic rim on this?

This one is some kind of prototype Orange (weren't Orange making the Ashton frames around then?)

The all black Justice someone mentioned as ridden by Rowan Johns is a pretty good shout too!

Notice a theme here? I like my bikes looking pretty simple yet looking effective at their intended purposes. Nothing fussy or overly designed.

i cant imagine throwing an orange Zero at a wall that hard

This made me sad. I have been told by folks in the industry e-bikes are the future no matter what you think of them and its unavoidable, but it pisses me off. One of the great things about Akrigg is he was already an e-bike in a way, the way he managed to keep pedaling and applying power on any bike was mind blowing. I'll admit the e-bike seems to amplify that which is wild, but he did it so well on his own. Riding up those stream bed/boulder chutes was impressive because it happened, but I would much rather see him on just super tech trails powering his own way up/through things. The guy will always be someone I look up to and I know you gotta make a buck and its where the industry is going, but I died a little when I saw this.

You've clearly never ridden an E bike, I don't think you understand the difficulty of what he's doing. it changes everything.

This is my earliest video, from around 2002. Filmed by whoever I could get to hold the camera and edited by James Hyland (because we were both sponsored by Cleanbikes and he had editing software. The quality is super potato.

Cmon Ali, you must have something shitter than this, your putting Al fel to shame

  6. I've acquired a lot of material possessions and can no longer rely on friends with small vans to move house, as much as it kills me I'm going to have to use a moving company, has anyone had any experience or recommend a national chain?

I'm going to be moving the contents of a one bed house 300 miles ish, so I'm guessing it's going to sting a bit...
    Cheers for any help guys.

  8. friend of mine was just made redundant over the top of a guy who decided he wanted to work one day a week and get a job elsewhere just before lockdown, f**king disgraceful, the Mrs has a "meeting" next week too, Sorry to hear about both you guys :(

  9. More of a happy conflicted post... Ali c's dammed videos have turned me on to building a bike again, I thought I kicked the habit, but that Gt build pushed me over the edge, I think this Norco vid is going to seal the deal
