  1. Ha haa, they made a remix of that damn tune, played it on wes's show in the morning, and then again on the moyles show, f**king annoying

Whats more annoying is the fact they play it while saying 'wow, this is really annoying' over the top. Jeeez.. we know its annoying, so dont play it. Just turned off radio 1 about 10 minutes ago for this very reason! I feel we havent heard the last of it :S

  2. Why?  :S

I'd rather have something that looks cool and means bollock-all, than something with some deep inbuilt meaning that looks shite... and no one knows it's meaning anyway.

Nah, id prefer to have something which means alot to me, even if no-one else knows what it means, who cares? Its your skin, atleast that way it would still be personal to you in 50 years time. I certainly wouldnt scar myself for life to look cool for a couple of months..

Im not a fan of em anyway, I think the novelty value would wear off pretty quickly in terms of a lifetime whichever way you look at it.

  3. What do you think this is? Bank-forum or something? :S

But anyway, think I got a switch card at 16/17 from Natwest after losing my solo card on a regular basis (I guess in the end I must have got over a certain age limit and sent me one automatically), but then again I opened a savings account the other day and they only gave me a solo card.

Ask around if I were you, find the best card and go for that. Also check out the service you get. Lloyds just stuck a leaflet in my hand and pushed me aside, natwest on the otherhand took me aside and sorted everything out for me - their customer service is really good. Theyve also promised to never outsource call centers to other countries... I cant imagine how difficult it would have been to phone up wrecked at 3am, with porn playing in the background doing my best to explain ive lost my card with no idea of where or when, to some guy who doesnt speak english - so thats a good thing :)

  4. It goes slower with music running, but it's hardly rapid without :P

Changed my default player to Winamp, that made a bit of a difference I think, and I got rid of all the icons in msconfig too. Also re-started and things were instantly better... why does that make such a difference? :)

I'll probably re-install everything once all my deadlines are out of the way. I don't even want to risk losing all my work.

Cheers for the advice guys, muchos helpful :P

The things which are listed in msconfig (startup tab) are the programs which load up every time you turn your computer on. Over 2 years of installing stuff youve probably made up quite a list of things which start every time you turn your pooter on, but never get used any more. Unchecking them means they wont start up when you turn your computer on.

If you have stuff like hotkeys on your keyboard.. or err.. I cant think of anything else, and they dont work any more, you might need to go back into msconfig and re-check the box to load the (in this case) keyboard drivers when you start up. If everything works fine, leave it as it is :S

And my tip of the day, go and back your work up now whatever you do :)

  5. If I have the two together, it's almost painful how slow things move on Photoshop...

So photoshop only goes slow if your playing music?

What software do you use to play music? I suggest you find one which is a little easier on the CPU.

Format if you can be arsed. I realise people dont like doing it but it is the best 'catch all' solution..

As for free non formatting general speeding up, click start> run> type "msconfig". Click startup tab. Uncheck everything which you dont need, including things like office quick start and anything that looks unfamiliar. Restart. Also run adaware, spybot, stuff like that.

As for non-free, buy some more RAM.

    EDIT:

When the MP3 was played in Winamp 5.05, the CPU utilization was between

3%-6%. This was consistent through the entire MP3.

When the MP3 was played in Windows Media Player 10 the CPU utilization was between 33%-36%.

This was consistent through the entire MP3.

    Try winamp 5.05 :S

  6. Yeah, i've got a Pinnacle PCTV card that does that

Basically the card has a TV aerial port on the back and also a composite port, and an S-Video.  You plug in the aerial to the aerial one (duh!) and you can watch TV in a window, or go full screen :) Tis good.  As my I have a TV plugged into the TV out I can watch TV on the TV or one of my flat screens woo :)

The composite in lets you plug in a VCR or Playstation if you like too :)  Oh and the cards got an audio out that you plug into the line-in on your sound card so you get sounds from the TV input woo :P

    Ah cool, cheers :S

Ive got the ariel and everything going into the freeview box already. The sound is already connected up to my amp. Now I just need to use a scart to s-video lead and plug it into a capture/tv card. Thanks for clearing that up, I assume someone would have warned me about the image being crap if it was gonna be

  7. It is his decision though.. none of us (I assume) have ever been in the position of wanting/feeling ready to marry someone. If theyre already in the position where they share their money and she does the bills and stuff... then thats pretty marriage like already - I guess its that kinda thing which makes me not want to get married. So errr yeah, sounds like you got the commitment thing sorted already.

But meh, I dont want commitment like everyone else by the sounds of it (N) Each to their own..

  8. We just used to gamble (far too much money) with cards. That didnt take long to get banned.. our head of year had probably 100 packs of cards in her office by the end of the year (I shit ye not).

Apparently they've filled up 'my' old common room with computers. Gone are the days of playing stupidly loud decent music to piss off the townies, while gambling on card games  Those were the days.. good wholesome fun.

  9. :) What about lucy?  She not treating you well? And after you bought her a spade aswell

Lucy has been ignoring me since I gave her the spade - not one phone call - NOT ONE! I guess its time to move on.

About the marriage thing, 18 is pretty young to get married.. I dont see what the rush is, personally I quite like the freedom of being single (at the moment). Saying that, ive never felt the urge to marry anyone, and the thought of it would scare me - obviously thats not the same for you though, so its not my place to really say anything except good luck

  10. Wow, how insightful. I never, ever even thought of taking these factors into account when looking for a partner. I think we all need to take relationship advice from 15 year old more often.

    dan

    Boooooooooring.

I guess you were never 15.

Anyway, 99% of girls are evil. Actually no.. probably only about 50% are.. I just take more notice of that 50% cos they annoy me :(

Saying that, to the trained eye, it doesnt take long to spot an evil one.

Its all good when you find a nice girl though (... still waiting).

  11. Have I ever started a moan on this forum before? No! I don't post useless bollox, in fact it pisses me off completely when people do. I seen that it was getting ridiculous that people couldn't post a picture of thier bike to recieve feedback etc as it has always happened.

The thing is people WERENT allowed to post feedback. We went though and had to delete it. What was good about the bike-pics thread? The fact you could scan through 10 pages of bike pics and bike pics only? Well now (if you use it) you have X pages of thumbnails of bikes, which you ARE ALLOWED TO COMMENT ON!! This makes it easier for us as we dont have to go through everything to keep it tidy, PLUS you get to comment on you 'kin bikes.

About the subforum, it already is a fecking subforum!! Just click on it and post your picture. If you want to comment on a picture (which may I remind you, you werent allowed to do before) click the ******** comment button.

Jeeez... its not a difficult concept.

    .... breath..

  12. I dont see how clicking 'Bike Pics' --> 'Upload image' is any harder than using a seperate uploader and then pasting the code into a new reply..?!

Davetrials, if we didnt delete comments in the bike pics thread your looking at about 100-200 pages of replies and 10 pages of pics, you can argue all you want that you prefer to wade through an unmoderated bike pics thread than look at a page with all the thumnails infront of you, but I wont believe you.

Anyone can tell me that they can moderate it no problem, but I bet my anal virginity that you will get bored of it after you have done it once, again 6 hours later, again the next day etc etc. Being a moderator is not fun, ask.. a moderator.

YOU were the ones arguing that you werent allowed to comment on bike pics, well now you can, its simply a case of hitting 'add reply' as you normally would for the picture you want to comment on... christ.. is it that hard? Give and take guys.. we (mods/admins) are the ones who have to sort through your crap day in day out.. why not make it a little easier for us?

Rant over, and I dont even enforce this no bike pics rule.. (Y)

PS: Yes, I agree the gallery isnt up to standard, which is why I bitch at the guy who writes it, but for your needs of clicking 'Bike Pics, Upload image' or Clicking 'Bike Pics, Click Thumbnail, Click Add Reply' I dont see what your winging about.

  13. Righty guys, thought I might try getting the calendar into action, you may have seen the upcoming events on the front page already...

So, if you are planning a ride or know of an event which you think should be on the calendar, post it here in the following format -

    Date: 09/01/05

    Place: Bristol

    Link to Topic/topic ID*: 45800

*Last five numbers of topic URL.

Then I (or mods if they want!) can go and easily add them into the calendar.

(Mods, if you ever want to add a new event in, for the link to topic use

    [topic=12345]Text[/topic]

to link to the events topic, this will stop it from opening in a new window)

Hopefully it should be handy for people who quickly want to find out where there are rides organised for a particular weekend or something, or find out when things like Bike 2005 are.

Anyway, tis just a test for the time being, we'll see how it goes

Feel free to post what you think about it here, but i'll clean up this thread in a week or so (Y)

    Tom.
