  1. Thanks for reminding me dan! Still need to to send of my form off. Na its all pretty strong. Just its thinner due to its being steel.

Aye will need to get a ride down your way soon though. Give this a good go like. ;)

  2. In the lodge at shiel we used to sleep over in it every now and again cos was friendly with the kids that lived there. We used to all stay in the same room and would be about 5/6 of us there. The lights used to flicker. I know what your thinking. Old build bad wires. Well it had recenlty been done up a few years before so eveyrything was grand. The lights used to turn on and off for a good 10 mins or so before it stopped. You could hear the light switch being clicked. But noone was near it. This never happened when there were a smaller number in the room.

Did a wee bit of reserch and found out that a young boy had been killed in the lodge by a accident in the stables. He was quiet a lively lad when he was young and never liked being by himself. So thought it was his ghost. We put this to the test. When it started doing it again. One of us just said " John can you please stop doing that were tryinf to sleep". And the lights just stayed off. Now this really freaked us out. But sure enough every night we stayed over this would happen and jsut kept asking John to stop it and he did.

Another story is in the Shiel Manse. Only a mile from my house. The owners had a son about the same time I was born. His name was Duncan. Unfortunalty he was born witha dogey hearrt and the doctors didnt give him past a year. But he proved them wrong. We grew up toegther till the age of 5/6 and were pretty much insepterble. One day he was running up the stairs when he died due to his heart problems. By this time though they had already had another son who was still a baby at the time. Now nothing happened at the start. But when I started going over and playing with Hugh, the other son, I was about 10 and Hugh was 6/7 we used to play together all the time. Then one day I lost my favoruit toy at his. We looked high and low for it but coulnt find it anywhere. It was missing for about 4 weeks when I stayed over night at his and i slept in duncans old room. Now at the time i didnt know it was his old room but when i woke up my toy was sitting on the floor near the bed. Just thought his mum had found it for me so went to say thanks. She didnt have anything to do with it though. Noone in the house knew how it got there. A few weeks later staying over again i heard foot steps on the landing out side my room. Noone would of been up here cos i was on the top floor where only Duncans room was and a loo. Duncans and mine favroite toy was outside the door the folowing morning. I was over the moon and thought his parents had a hand in this. Again they had no idea. They had been looking for that toy for years but could never find it. Then over the next few years same type of things has happened. Running foot steps to the top of the stairs and onto the landing. Toys being moved during the night.

I belved and still do to this day that its Duncan running up those stairs. Finishing the run that his body never did.

I still go over and stay in his room every now and again. When ever I do i take a toy for Duncan. And sure enough in the morning it has been moved about. I wake up some nights when I'm there in the dead of night and hear footsteps on the landing.

  3. I agree, not taking the piss out him, it's just, saying you're dyslexic then putting straight after "or however you spell it" seem a bit... false? :ermm: But still got nothing against him.

To be fair. Dyslexic is abit of a pain in the arse to spell. Only reason I know that is right is thanks to google.

Dyslexic's need to stuck together! DYSLEXIC'S UNTIE!

  4. Running is massive emphasis on core strength, it's the only thing that gets rid of any fat around my abs (other then swimming but I hate swimming pools)

I do a fair amount of milage on my xc machine (ride 6miles each way to work 3 times a week and 15-25 over a weekend) and have got much fitter in the two months i've been doing this. but although I'm fitter and leaner elsewhere my belly is still podgy (I am a skinny build so its the only area with any fat on it).

The only time I was properly lean in a year or two was when i was running twice a week. XC for about 5miles and pounding pavements for another 5miles. so 10 miles a week taking no more then 2hrs total, including showers and driving to the xc loop.

I guess I do like binge drinking, so this is probably karma being a bitch. If you're the same, avoid doing this, you'll drop loads of weight

also running in the highlands would kick ass for hill training! you'd end up super powerful and really drop weight if you find a nice sized hill.....

If you want a good sized hill come here. got one about 2 miles from my house that rised 1100 feet in about 2 miles.

  5. Mr hail. Thank you very much. Will start doing it once I get some gear together. By oil drums do you mean 5 gallon or 1 gallon ones? Also we have a JCB. ;) But thanks for everything. Plus can do a wall sit for about 4/5 mins. Got to love skiiing. :P

The fastest thing we have to fast food here is the rabbit and deer that runs about on the hills that soon end up on the table.

And I find no enjoyment in running. Have tried it before. Can see why people do it but its not for me.

  6. My day to day food contains 2 wheatabix for brakfast, Ham sandwhich and 2 portions of fruit and maybe a Goahead bar thing. Lunch is a ham sandwhich and 3 bits of fruits and on Mon,Wed and Fri a bag of walkers baked ready salted crips. Dinner is normaly something along the lines of meat, veg and tatties in some shape or form. Drink about 3 or 4 pints of water a day. and maybe a pint or 2 of tea spread out during the day.

Mr Hail stick them up here.

My BMI at the moment is 28.1. Which is high but was expecting that due to being off the bike since September.

  7. Haha but in all seriousness though, just start eating right and hitting the gym, saying that i could do with going to the gym aswell im so unfit now :giggle:

You know where I live right? Nearest gym is a good few miles from here. Kinda hoping for some things you can do at home.

  8. I already do, have done for a year in march. Although i've bent alot of discs, i had a really good brake bent the disc i cant get it perfectly strait now the brake is like.. meh.

New disk? And you must be doing something wrong. I was running a bent disk for a good few months and it worked grand.

  9. As some of you who have met me or maybe seen a clip of me on the bike will have noticed that I have a belly that could be a match for Santa. And you may of also noticed my moobs.(pics on request but it will cost you ;))

Now I don't really have any fat on my apart from my torso. Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what exercise's(sp) to do to get rid of this and to generally raise my level of fitness.

    Cheers for any advice.

  10. Yup, we're heading to Fort William on the 26th of Feb. Hows the snow? is it mainly Ice or has the snow stayed on the ground?

Intend to do Nevis and another hike in the area.on the 27th and 28th

then we're planning on giving skiing a go (:o) any suggestions for 4 novices and a fairly adept ski-er?

More details on the rest of the week when we pin them down. Basically gonna swing up to Skye, Outer Hebrides, Lewis then free rein to visit stuff on the way back down!

The nevis range is alright. Can higher all the gear and can get a all day/ half day lift pass depending when you show up. Plus the place at the top is pretty good food wise. The snow is pretty much gone bar on the hills. Also any of the roads on higher ground would be abit iffy.. But the only place's you go above 1000 feet is coming from Glasgow to the Fort, Glengarry to Binloin junction and over Clunie. It shouldnt be to bad but just watch out.

You intrested in doing a spot of caving or anything when your here? Know a few caves on skye that are decent-ish sized.
